the asus does, the new asus laptops have a mobile Radeon 5870, and up to 8 gigs of memory, they both have Core i7 processers.

the Qosmio has a ..more fancy aesthetic look,

but the Asus is based on the F-117 stealth fighter, and has a look to match that, it doesn't have all the gloss, so no finger prints. however, the qosmio has a bigger higher HD screen(i beleive the asus is only 720p, where the Qosmio is 1080p.)

The " Annoying black bars" Most blu-ray movies are filmed in a way that you will have the black bars. HD Tv's are 16:9 but will still likely have black bars with most blu-ray movies. It is all in how it's filmed.  Only way to get rid of them would be to zoom in if your TV has that option but then you lose some of the picture.

@kouthao92 i7 but the i5 is just as good and a bit cheaper in price... i7 is $1500 on Amazon and the i5 is $1200.The i5 is good enough to play Crysis on maxed out settings as well as MW2 maxed out so you got some serious powetr either way... for me i will go towards the i5 brcause the economy is bad right now so the cheaper the price the better. If you have money get the i7 if you're like me and have a tight budget get i5.

@lacecraze There's no difference between the X500 and the X505. The X500 series, is a series of Qosmio laptops which would include the X505 group of laptops as well.

@MckaiserDragon If you compare the start entry models, Qosmio definitely gives Alienware a run for its money. I'd actually say that just based on the price, Qosmio is definitely a better bargain.

If you want to compare the sheer power of each, regardless of what price you have to pay, Alienware is a lot more customizable (when you purchase it) and will be more powerful than any Qosmio configuration.

hey i bought my qosmio X500 a few days ago...it was working sweet untill today...the damn thing wont start at all...the charger works, and its indicating that the charger is plugged in with the red light on...but theres no power at all...has anyone had this problem before? im gonna return it to find out whats happening! could it be a faulty build?

I had to send mine back to pc world with right speaker distortion. They tell me no more in stock. Refund or replace with diff model. The main issue I have to point out to people after having tryed this laptop. The Speakers are not loud at all at 100% volume, even after you enabled loud equalization. My old Toshiba 5200-701 had better louder speakers. Puts me off. Considering BIG time whether I'm going back to this laptop. Everything else is top Notching

Toshiba seems to be the best thing in laptops right now. I have two Toshiba laptops and both perform quickly and have ever given me any problems even with multiple screens.

Fit and Finish always seems to be the best.

I was talking to a computer repair guy the other day and when I mentioned Toshiba he said, "Yeah Toshiba's give me the least amount of PC problems. They're like the Benz of laptops right now. Ya know, their doors don't squeak"

Not sure what that means, but I think it's good.

I have been using this machine for the last 2 months and I have found it very good especially playing videos and screen resolution is super clear. Weight is heavy but remember it is a desktop replacement so I don't mind.

2) it doesn't work that way! i7 base speed is 1.6GHz and max turbo boost speed is 2.8GHz. Regardless of n of cores.

3) GTS 360M is a rebranded 240M, so it gonna be slightly slower than 250M. However it won't matter much since the naked eye won't notice the difference.

5) get a notebook with a radeon 5830 to get directx11 support.

The different models, such as X500-10T, X500-10x - only difference i can see is the RAM size and HDD size. Would it work out cheaper if you bought one with a slightly lower spec, and then upgrade the RAM etc later??

57REvolution, the one that you saw at Sears is the same design as the x500, but its actually the Toshiba P505 series. X500 has much better specs than the P505 and also cost about twice as much as the P505.

It runs at 2.8 when it is only using 2 cores, when it uses all for, it will run at 1.6, and when you arent doing any CPU intensive tasks, it will underclock to save power.

Great machine and good features but Toshiba should work on making a lighter machine around 3.5 Kg. But I like this machine because it is super fast and screen resolution is crystal clear. Internet is running at lightining fast pace.

Well a 1.6Ghz Core i7 720QM is installed. As part of the cpu there's a nice little feature called "Turbo Boost" which essentially scales the CPU to higher frequency in this case all the way up to 2.8Ghz.

That's desktop class performance right there.

I'm going to buy this exact model off of newegg in a few months. It's replacing my 3 year old Toshiba M115-S3094.

Oh and another sweet thing is that the nvidia gpu on this thing uses GDDR5 RAM instead of DDR3
