When I was a kid, I used to take a 12 ga shotshell and lay it on a stump and shoot the primer with a BB gun. That is fun when you hit one.

we made a board with holes drilled in them and put in 209 shotgun primers. fun to shoot with an air rifle, but if you use a .22 or anything else, you won't hear the primer detonate. they are very small and you can fit 100 of them easily on a board, and shoot for awhile. depending on your aim hahah.

at first i thought hmmm those matches seem a bit close to each other. and then you started shooting,lol. just kidding,i will say this i commend you for posting this and offering the challenge to others. make some more with the 1022, CheezIt crackers are great,hit em` and leave em`. Necco wafers on wing nuts in a board like the match targets.normally we do this with match grade airguns but rimfires work fine.golf balls on tees can be fun too.long distances give you the sniper/sharpshooter feeling

Looks like your scope is sighted in for quite bit further than the distance you are currently shooting at. If you aim at the head, it will hit below the head in this case.

i did it with my 10/22 but we just shot a buddle of about 500 matches

we bundled them up into a group about the size of a soda can and put them on a stump at 100 yards. but then we found out no one could hit only the heads at 100 yards, so we move it closer. we also found out that anything bigger then a .22 is to big and will just blow the buddle apart. oh and they do make .22rimfires, but they are expensive and i think it is a wast of money unless you have a good resone to buy them

I'm not sure if they make tracers for rimfires, but if they do you might want to consider picking some up and trying to use them. I have heard reports that they can quite easily light dry grass on fire.

You're right! I've started grass fires at work with large caliber tracers (both .50 cal and 25mm.) Not sure if they make them in rimfire though. Thank you for the comment!

I have heard this one my whole life. The Idea, the old folks say is to just barely graze the match. I used a .22 cal pellet gun (I was bored and I live in town). I started with a bundle of 4 strike anywhere. Shot two of the heads off, grazed the other two. No Ignition. SO I shot at just one match, managed to graze it, but no ignition.
