  • i say we put all the murderers on an island and make a reality show out of it! from time to time we'll drop food and medicine.

i mean it's one thing if you are a murderer and you face the real world but a whole other thing when it's murderer against murderer. of course some will think this is disturbing but is it more disturbing than the death sentence? who are we to judge about life and death? and if we do, aren't WE the murderers?

i'm sure they'll take good care of themselves.

  • Is the legal system perfect? Will it EVER be perfect?

If you're honest with yourself, you'll admit it is not and will never be. Therefore, we do not have the right to take someones life away when we're not 100% sure that we'll be 100% right about every case.

  • What about life without parole, that would guarrantee also the person not killing again.

What about cutting the guys limbs off. That would also guarrantee. A lobotomy would also guarrantee.

  • I remember that story. If he had stayed locked up he wouldn't have been able to kill again either. The main problem with the death penalty is the possibility of an innocent person being convicted and put to death.

  • I am against the death penalty.

That said, I think the death penalty is still justified (the reasons I'm against it are too complex for me to write in a post). I think it is possible to justify the death penalty by saying it's for retribution alone...those who deliberately kill, or even torture or rape an innocent person have committed a crime so egregious that yes, killing them is justified.

Whether the murderer kills again or not is an issue, but not the most important one.

  • that is pretty simply false IMO. it is human nature to kill, although it has become less socially acceptable it still is. Does what your saying mean that a soldier fighting in afghanistan or Iraq is insane, someone killing a dictator that ruled over them for years degrading them till they're not but dirt is crazy. No whats insane is not realizing human nature and that sometimes things just need to be done, it doesnt take insanity to not kill it just takes insanity to kill for no reason

  • I agree with you, but, their is always that unsurity of not knowing exactly who the murderer is and then, there is just more blood on everyone's hands that way.

  • Well, Joe beat me to it, but the death penalty is not the only way to ensure a person does not commit murder again.

But, it is the one irreversible method. And if we're wrong, we have committed a horrible mistake.

Our justice system is flawed. We incarcerate people who don't need to be incarcerated, taking up the space for people who should be in prison. Therefore, we end up releasing people back onto the streets who should never see the light of day again.

That is no reason to execute.

  • :) makes me happy each time i see your videos 5/5

  • i honestly have no opinion on the death penalty cause im from canada but i do have an interest in american politics. but from what you said he killed this waiter because of an argument. anyone who would kill over any argument has some kind of mental issue i think before anyone is murdered there should be some serious mental evaluation going on im not against the death penalty for anyone who has serious criminal intent but if its due to an actual mental issue i dont think thats right by ne stndrd

  • Thanks for the response. It sounds to me like in your scenario, the criminal is still paying for someone else's future misbehavior, but in this case it's the government's failure to keep the right people incarcerated.

I'd hope you would hold the bureaucrats responsible for their administrative malfeasance rather than adjust for their errors in the convict's sentence.

  • as long as the convicted murderer can not kill again, and this includes murder inside the prison, i have no problem with life without parole
