  • I posted a similar comment (last year, I think) but I just want to reiterate... Lynette's performance/ministry at the end of this rendition was phenomenal!!! Wow, what a powerful voice! She murdered it!

  • Wanted to shout out to Andre and Sandra Crouch too. They put there foot in this song too!!!! Love it!!

  • Naw That's SANGING!!!!!!! I wore this VHS tape out (til it broke) back in the day. Could not get enough of Marvin Winans and Tremaine Hawkins part. Cissy brought me to tears in the opening, so elegant. They all were great. Sure wish Rance was there!!...

  • I have this on VHS. Yes it is that old. I love this.

  • I love you Tremaine Hawkins...sister you can blow!

  • Ahhhhhhhhh I LOVE this !!!

  • Tramaine Hawkins and Marvin Winans tore it up!!

  • The names/souls/voices on that stage leave my head SPINNING. The amount of God's given gift being shared and witnessed in this 7-plus minute piece is surely proof of The Heavenly Father.

  • Cissy Houston the best!juici29

  • Thats Luther Vandross at the end in the tux waving his hands.

  • @SilverAdonis I have this on original VHS, and never knew that ! I saw it when it original aired and have watched it many time over the years and never caught Luther at the end! I will be looking for him now. Thanks for the tip , it's a great clip I never get tired of watching !

  • where's daryl coley?

  • @DaKINg7771 I was wondering did recognize that he was not present for this performance more so than that The Meeting of God's chosen voices. He would have been a great addition.

  • BREATHTAKING!

  • Wow for Ms. Cissy Houston...

  • I was born in 1987 so I wasn't even born yet but I am really feeling this..

  • Can't get enough of this CLASSIC!!!!!!

  • @kateclay100 I believe it was either 1986 or 1987 based on Vanessa Bell Armstrong's hair style. It was exactly like her album cover.

  • Everyone pray for Aretha Franlkin, she had surgery for ancreatic cancer. I know Vanessa Bell Armstrong is going to be shaken by this. She is one of her favorite singers.

  • Vanessa bell armstrong hair was kicking it. She can style that hair do in 2011. People should stick with hair styles that fit them. I can tell this hair dew was from the Best IN Me album. U go girl!

  • I don't consider myself a Christian. I Just Love God. But I Appreciate the passion of gospel singers & I realize all these Bible Beating Singers Are True Legands. The Spice Of Life. God Bless. This was cool....

The Soul Train Awards hasn't seen anything like it since, and that was 21 years ago. Amen?

  • Ok well let me check that out, also someone posted Jesus is a love song with her and her sisters and she literally holds a note for 5 minutes

  • OMG! I was looking for this video. Ms. Cissy really sung her part. I love this woman dearly. If fact all did a magnificent job ministering music. Is that Ron Winans?

  • Thanks so much for posting this!! I saw this when it originally aired back in the "80's and I recorded on VHS. Somehow I misplaced the cassette,so it's really nice to see this clip again! I enjoy hearing all of the vocalists but I especially love the way Lynette Hawkins finishes the song!!!

  • Sing Cissy Houston!!!!The best high note singer...wow now we see where Whitney got it from..

  • I'm loving this, I just adore the Winan "brothers". Vanessa Bell Armstrong was phenomenal. Just overall beautiful. I remember this aired. Thanks for posting it and bringing back great memories.

  • Where was Inez? Thats her signature song. She would have wiped them out!

  • WHOEVER PLANNED THIS IS A GENUIS

  • Sang Vanessa doggone it

  • the clothing of the 80's was horrendous. Thats y when I see kids today who weren;t even alive in the 80's wearing all those bright neon jeans and sneakers, I cringe

  • What year was this done? Was it on some awards show? I saw something like this back in 1987 when I was living in Seattle. It grabbed me so hard that I called my mother back in Missouri and told her to tune in to the show right now! I had tears coming out of my eyes and I'm only a Christian bear.

Before I devour you, I will say a prayer for you. This gathering will never happen again.

  • this was done in 2001 when they decided to broadcast the Grammys after 911 happened. This was the last performance of the evening totally captivating the audience.

  • Comment removed

  • Nah..definitely not in 2001. I remember seeing it live and I was in high school at the time. I graduated in '88....this is more than 20 yrs old.

And it was the Soul Train Awards, not the Grammys!

  • It was the 1987 Soul Train award show. Youtube won't let me post the link to the show. So just google Soul Train Award show 1987 and you will see their names listed. :-)

  • This was done in the late 80's, around 1987.

  • WHOEVER HAD THIS IDEA IS A GENUIS
