  • made in romaia :D bravo domnule Horia Nica ne faceti mandri sa fim romani

  • I don't understand how this is in any way like a Tesla turbine. It looks to me like a VAWT inside some vanes.

  • Keep ripping off Tesla, America

    Reeeal classy

  • I don't see what this has in common with Tesla turbine. It looks like all the other 999 VAWT design types, except that it looks much better. Does it also have better efficiency?

  • Neat design. Tesla would be proud.

  • pricing?availability?

  • At 3 dollar / watt installed I'd go for it.

  • Wouldn't it be better to have the turning blades around the outer edge to give the wind more mechanical advantage? I agree with what was said about the blade design. It is very good.

  • The disks inside will get dirty very quickly. Dust particles will get there and eventually stick to the surface area of the disks. The surface erosion will destroy any coatings on the disks and accelerate the dust build up. Then the optimial gap between the disks will get smaller and the effectivity of the turbine will drop, of course. The disks are a nice idea, but will not work in real life situations.

  • Real life situation will prove the viability of the concept.

  • Interesting. What about mounting horizontally. That way you could build an augmenter along the bottom half of the turbine to both force the air up and through the turbine and shielding the turbine from having to work against itself as the turbine is spinning toward the wind. Also, what about using rare earth magnets on the augmenter and making the turbine blades out of copper wire to turn the turbine into a generator as well?

  • I like this idea... why not take it a step further and design this to be built into a vehicle? Scoop the air along the sides of the vehicle, channel it through a filter and through this type of turbine to recharge/supplement the battery of an electric vehicle.

  • That ends up being perpetual motion, in other words the energy used to spin the generator is provided by the forward motion of the vehicle and therefore from the drive system.

  • I think the design is very clever but it looks almost over engineered. couldnt the outer casing be made to take up less space?

  • What you call an "outer casing" is in fact an augmenter to increase the wind capture surface area.

  • HOW MUCH IN DOLLARS ABOUT 500 WATTS?

  • @horianica:

Is there a specific reason why you don't make a full Tesla wind turbine without blades?

  • There are some significant difference between the Telsa turbine and a wind turbine. In the Tesla case the high pressured fluid have no choice but to pass through the nozzle. In a wind turbine case, we are talking about free fluid dinamics. The stator vanes that have to redirect the wind in tangent to the rotor represent an obstacle in front of the wind and the air flow will take the path of less resistance, a.i. go around the turbine and very little wind will actually hit the rotor.

  • Such a clean sophisticated look! I love this kind of stuff. Going to check out the website. I know this type of equipment isn't cheap but I hope to use something like this on my next house project. So far it's one of the most attractive wind turbines that I have seen.

How does this vertical turbine compare to the large propeller looking wind turbines? Is it a better technology or just something that doesn't look as unattractive?

  • In terms of the price we aim to hit the market at lower price point per watt installed that any other wind turbines currently in the market.

  • The typical approach, he? Cost per watts and profitability in so many years crap. Just make the turbine, calculate a healy margin and sell the damn thing tomorrow. Do not listen to the marketing experts and keep it simple.

  • The principal sounds a lot like Tesla's original bladeless turbine, using viscosity to move the turbines....

  • the price, the price per kW? any numbers?

  • More info on our website

  • The best design yet I think. Look forward to it going into production

  • How is it effected by blowing snow and rain? Looks like a great idea.

  • You need to take into account that this turbine works on the same principles as the Tesla turbine, a.i. it will work best with higher viscosity air. Accordingly rain will improve the performance of the system, as humid air have higher viscosity. In case of snow the only problem will be if we have accumulation of snow and/or ice in between the disks. This could be prevented for instance by keeping the temperature around the rotor above the freezing point.

  • Hallo, it looks very interesting could You send me Your internet website ?

    Thomaslit

  • I like it! Great Idea with the Tesla discs inside...using an old idea in a totally new way.
