I used to have one back in 81. I put a grate on the intake and it seems to glue it down with a little extra on top. Maybe 1 or 2mph. Wasn't there a fellow around 87 or 88 that broke into the high 70's on one?
@tjm52071 no seriously. there was a guy in watercraft magazine that ran some crazy speed on the 800cc when it came out. I do remember the thing having elongated rear ski etcetera. this was a drag machine with a built motor. I know the "scoop" well. I bought mine from the local suzuki shop and it was a red double finned scoop. i was in the shop buying my second front ski from shattering it jumping cabin cruiser wakes as they plowed on Lake Hamilton in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
@vwertigo this was, of course, before the sheriff patrol regulated someone jumping off the primary or secondary wake of a boat. you see I got mine when I was in the 5th grade and I'm now 39. the first time my legs left the hull I was doing a superman and didn't know it, but I rinsed and repeated many times!

@vwertigo Intake grates, or scoops as they are called are common upgrades. Doubtfull anyone has gotten one to 70mph. 50 tops.

Hi...I have a 1979 stock 50 hp wetbike that tops out at 32 mph on my radar gun. How did you get yours to reach 38 mph? Thanks and great video.

Richie, this is a 60hp bike with speed plug insert in jet pump, and velocity stacks.
That'll get it to 38mhp
