I think the start of the build up was just fine. The NWO made a hell of an impact and they basically made their debut in the WWE as if they had nothing to prove(which they didn't). But once they're introduced to the wrong guy, then that's when they started to lose their composure. Were they as good in WWE as they were in WCW? There was no doubt he was popular back in the 80s but he notoriously rejected the up and coming guys from having a shot at his belt because he couldn't accept change. Austin never forgot that so when he went to ECW he started doing promos mocking Hogan. In interviews, people will ask Austin who the best wrestler ever was and he usually says Ric Flair or the Rock and not Hogan.
