@kuusipoikaa You can write all the settings into the console yourself (cl_drawhud 0 I think removes most of the HUD stuff, but there's some others you may want to change), but using a config is a bit easier because you don't have to type it out each time. Plus you can make a copy of your cstrike folder so you have a gaming setup and a movie setup without having to change settings when you want to switch (just rename the folder you want to use to cstrike and the game does the rest).
