  • oh my fuckin god !!!! i remember all my childhood (and no, i wasnt born in the 60's)

  • Caroline says, Caroline says II, Candy says, Lisa says, Stephanie says...allright already!

  • God I love this album. Loved it then, love it now.

  • Great lineup- Lou Reed of course / Steve Winwood- harmonium / Jack Bruce-bass

Aynsley Dunbar-drums / Steve Hunter-guitar / the Brecker Bros played horns on other tracks on the album

  • E' un prodotto di David Bowie

  • @tytaeden penso di no , Bowie collaboro con Transformer ma non era presente per Berlin...

  • Perfect!! :) Men who lean are just not gonna cut it!

  • makes me want to live in London, cause this was recorded there

  • better than beethoven

  • @MrVelderado don't exaggerate, lol. Anyway, his 2nd Velvet Album is an art Masterpiece.

  • Jack Bruce of Cream played bass on this song. Thanks for all the great musicians who played in this album. Lou was great on it but was not the only one.

  • @MrSuperdico Is that really so? I always found the basslines in this song so strong but I never knew this.

And I never noticed it on the album cover, but now I,m gonna bring it back out of the attick.Shame on me for missing that.

I love Cream.Do you maybe know how they even met?Curious, thats all!

  • @hildaatje : Well that's what written on the back of the album cover i have (it's a vinyl record though). Beside, who else could play such a great and strong bassline ? ^^

Still it's strange that Lou and Jack (and others...) came to play together for "Berlin" when you know how different their style are...

  • @MrSuperdico I have the same vinyl album,so undoubtably its on there,I just never registered.Great Trivial pursuit fact!Thanx!

  • It was Stephen Davis, a fat, geeky, useless 'critic' who savaged this in Rolling Stone in 1973. I'd say, to his eternal shame. But he undoubtedly has none. This is a work of art and all smart rock kids know it!

  • My Ex mrs said "I want a man not just a boy"

That was a few years ago b4 I grew up I was 35 then I'm 43 now :-) but the damage was done

  • @rustylegiron Same experience for me in my divorce. It's not your fault.

  • Musical mastery.

  • the velvet underground and Lou Reed is better than the beatles

  • Wunderbar!

  • caroline says II is even better song!

  • Lou Reed is God

  • this kinda stuff gives us the incentive to go a little nuts. Just a little!

  • great stuff!!

  • Is this song about Nico? Describes her pretty perfectly.

  • yes, sure. nico was german, her real name was christa paffgen

  • I also read a quote of Nico's in a book recently where she says Lou sent her letters telling her the 'Berlin' album was for her. Apparently that was to make up for not letting her sing more songs in the VU.

  • Carolina dice

    :D

  • Unique!

  • brings back memories of my addiction days. classic and always brings a smile to my face

  • aaaah i love this song and the whole album Berlin... Lou Reed, what a genius...

  • brutal

  • Waldo ga zo door je bent goed bezig.

  • I can relate to this great song because I once fell in love with a Germanic queen like the character in this Lou Reed song.

  • We all did man , we all did...
