  • wouldnt this be the same theory of the sun ?

  • 2:08 and latter is AMAZING

  • Fingers and Holes in a Shaken Cornstrach.... Cornstrach? Do you mean Cornstarch? And you call yourself Uni students :P Looks cool tho...

  • WOOOOOW

  • the last part looks like living creatures

  • wtf...awesome

  • really cool.

does this appear with any other solutions?

  • @bernierinthazone all non-Newtonian liquids should exhibit this kind of behavior; which is kind of disgusting since blood is non-Newtonian (think blood fingers @ 2:08 - eww!!)

  • amazing

  • That's cool!

  • yeah looks like standing waves caused by sound vibrations creating localized nodes through the cornstarch medium.. reminds me what Solaris (the stanislav lem book not the bad clooney movie) looked like

  • Is it the "Faraday waves" text that gives it away?

  • dude that is so crazy!

  • what's the cornstarch mixed with? I assume if that's based on magnetism, there's some magnetic powder mixed in? Or is this just passing electricity?

  • It's probably mixed wit water and vibrated. No magnetism needed for that methinks.

  • ooblick is awesome!

  • I don't know, but some have too much fun in the lab.

I had a vile of Mercury, and this is some wicked cool stuff to play with. Like in the movie Terminator, liquid guy.

  • Mercury is toxic ¬¬! Don't play with that

  • absolutely trippy!

  • Mmm ... wow ... yuk!

  • first there was the word!

  • holy sit that was so cool. amazing vid

  • This is very bizarre, how can I make this?

  • @ChicoDaRave

You can make a similar mixture with milk and custard powder or (in UK) cornflour - make it very thick. Pour it into a shallow tray about 0.5cm thick, then whack it with the back of a spoon - just for a moment the conrflour mixture shatters like a pane of glass. Cornflour mixture is "dilantant" meaning it gets more viscous when you apply a force.

  • This relates to everything in life... so immensely beautiful {:]

  • that last bit looked evil lol

  • that's fucked up

  • It works cos it is a 'non newtonian liquid' under a impact, it is hard, yet without impulse it acts like a viscous liquid. The vibration makes it right between these two conditions

  • It was ok until this thing started growing fingers :O

  • that's one of the most awsome things i have ever seen

  • Oh, just awesome, thankyou very much.

  • Could you explain more what thei is about an what is reates to? Could you explain more what their is about an what is relates to?

  • wish we could control the fingers. cool.
