  • Jimmy Crespo definitely had some style. Only thing is, he was in the middle of one of the best duos in rock n' roll.

  • ok, so i always found this funny, because the song is Joe Perry's guitars, but the video has Jimmy Crespo doing it, lol

  • why did joe perry quit aerosmith

  • @ROCK1910 He argued with Steven a lot and he decided to take his own path. Also there was some fight between his wife and Tom Hamiliton's wife. That's what their autobiography says.

  • @AeroChica Joe made "the joe perry prjekt" but came back later... what is a rockband without steven.... :P

  • @ROCK1910 ...drugs...

  • Joe rocks

  • Aero Smith rock

  • I knew thet this song rocks it was no suprize :P

  • the "knock knock" lyrics are the best moment of the song

  • 'night in the ruts' is a good album. perry and whitford are the guitar team. crespo and dufay replaced them later, despite this video.

  • Yup, this album is great and still makes me happy after all these years. I love Joe but Jimmy is a pretty damn good player, looks good too. I'm sure the boys in Aerosmith thought so when they hired him. Of course I LOVE the original line up but this one damn good album.

  • Brad Whitford is the man! Probably the main ingredient for the true Aerosmith sound and definitely the unsung hero of the band. No respect. ST barely mentions him or gives him any credit in his new book.

  • Brad Whitford rules!!

  • @mlentz71 Yeah!!

  • Is Brad Whitford underrated or what? He just lays back and wails on the guitar and looks like he's havin a blast!

  • These were screwed up years for these guys, but still love this album.

  • Great Song!!

  • Dunno why this album gets so much flak........................it is really NOT that bad! Sure, Jimmy is no Joe, but he STILL kicks ass! The only complaint I have about Night In The Ruts is that it's too short (a little over 36 min.).........................it's too little of a good thing!

  • Aerosmith without Joe Perry is like eating cereal without the milk

  • @mrtwitchylizard but I like cereal w/o milk :/

  • at 2:22 I laughed my ass up when i saw it for the first time

I think Crespo forgot the lyrics and tried to disguise the moment

    rsrsrs

  • Why Perry, why?!?!?

  • Rock & roll, junky whore!!

  • steven, u r beautiful in everything u do...but it breaks my heart not seeing ur toxic twin in this video...i still love you and this song is freakin amazing =)

  • love this video!

  • It says featuring Jimmy Crespo for a reason. Joe ditched them in the late 70s so they replaced him with that dude. Thats why they wern't so good during that period of time. See people think that Aerosmith just needs Steven. Thats not true. Steven is great but it just isn't Aerosmith without Joe. And Brad and Joey and Tom.

  • @wilby2400 there was a lot more to it than that. The entire band hit rock bottom and just couldn't function on drugs any longer. It really began to set in during Draw the Line. They would have been pretty damn good with Crespo too if the timing was better. (less drug burn out). but Steven has said he and Joe are like brothers and it hit him hard.

  • where is joe fucking perry?

  • steven is so sexy!:X

  • its funny at 0:08 in Steven dose not have his jacket on and then at 0:09 bam its on. lol

  • @Silverchairfan1 nice eye :D

  • @MegaRockstare

Aerosmith was not a band that did a lot of drugs.

  • @JeffsVideoChannel Haha, are you kidding? They all did a lot of drugs. Steven Tyler was a junkie, he is still battling with his addictions today. If he didn't get clean he would be dead as he was a hard-core heroin addict...In their autobiography they talk about it.

  • If Japanese can boil teas then where the fuck's my royalties

  • Jimmy Crespo is the Rodney Dangerfield of rock 'n roll gets no respect

  • joe perry is missing, but the song is about a history that includes him.

  • You know what's oddly AMAZING about Steven Tyler? HE DOESN'T AGE. I mean, look: This video was made in 1980. He was 32! He obviously DOES NOT look 32 under any circumstances--maybe looks around 20, 25, BUT STILL. And the strange thing is he's always looked the same age except during the period of 1990-2000, where it looked like he aged, like, 30 YEARS. I still can't figure that out. AT ALL.

  • Maybe he was a late bloomer and hit puberty shortly after this video, which would explain his youthful look.

  • One of Tyler's best!

  • No matter how good Jimmy was, without Joe Asmith looks like Spinal Tap.

  • One of my favorite albums of all time!

  • crespo is a bad ass

  • @pbrick6301 Yeah he is. Jimmy get's way to much crap from Aerosmith purests. It's not his fault Joe left for a while. And he did a great job filling in, as did Rick Dufay. But from reading the Aerosmith book Rick was a bit of a dick.

  • its joe on guitar, when they made the videoo he left before they did it. So jimmy had to take his place in the video

  • If I'm correct, that's all Joe Perry on guitar, not Jimmy??

  • @SWISSCOLORVISION I think so too. I might have read it but I don't remember well right now.

  • @SWISSCOLORVISION @AeroChica It was joe, most of the stuff on night in the ruts was his, actually all of it was his haha. but yup joes the man, although i do give crespo his props with being with the band for a while

  • @SWISSCOLORVISION Yes, correct. Joe Perry did record this song for the album but he hed left the band before they made the video. That's why Jimmy Crespo is in it. Jimmy did record for the next album (Rock In A Hard Place).

  • @SWISSCOLORVISION yes but the video is jimmy. joe perry left before making the video so they substituted.

  • correct

  • @SWISSCOLORVISION Not sure on that one either. I dont remember if Joe walked out during the "Night in the ruts" sessions or if he finished then left.

  • @Mightymopar1973 I think Joe recorded most of it, this song included if I'm not wrong...

  • @SWISSCOLORVISION thats not joe perry, he left the band 1979 and this video is from 1980

  • The dregs of drugs in the late 70s/early 80s. Good times!

    perhaps.

    But the music rules!

  • well Brad's lookin' cute!

  • love kramers white suit and pink tie!

  • filmed at the werehouse in waltham, ma

  • Clearly the best song without Joe.

  • @Tzengal It's a Perry song. He played guitar on it as well as co-writing it. Crespo just appears in the video....

  • ok nothing agianst aerosmith cuz they RULE but does jimmy look like a rly light shade of green? or r my eyes bad?

  • @rockout4life1 Hahaha, Actually Steven said that on their autobiography book. He said he used to tease him because of it XD

  • I watched this video only about a million times and just noticed now that Steven Tyler spits out something to his left right after singing the beginning lyrics to the song, "Nineteen seventy one".......

  • this is an underated aerosmith song

  • Hate and ugly! Very powerful sentiments for people who don't seem to know their history! You may have never had you precious Aerosmith if Jimmy did not step in for those years. They were toast! It be refreshing if you all knew what your talking about! Every ones entitled to havr their favs, but no need to hate or put down someone who helped.

  • bad ass tune

  • Whitford, hanging in there, looking for an exit.

  • These guys ROCKED in their party-years!! Who remembered the weak cd "Jaded" terrible cd-now compare it to "Get your wings" no Comparison and no Surprize!

  • Jimmy tried to bite steven that was so gay

  • Joe Who? I think this rocks.

  • *recoils* cresper looks like such a creeper, lmao he can go to hell.

  • @AeroChica ummm tienes razon

  • aww fuck...still no joe!!!!! brad looks so adorable though!!!

  • the whole band looks high besides tom

  • rock and roll song

  • popstars eso es rock no pop

  • This couldn't have been at Max's Kansas City, because Perry was there when they got a record deal, not Crespo.

  • @Phoenitron This song just tells the history of Aerosmith. Of course Joe Perry was there when they got their record deal. Crespo was only there while Joe was out, from 1979 to 1984. Then Joe came back...

  • genial buen video :)

  • Gran tema. entre los grandes junto a Sweet Emotion, Draw the Line, Love in an Elevator...

  • and joe perry???

  • Sorry Mr. Crespo. You sir are no Joe Perry.

  • esban muy pasados de droga

  • It's Joe's guitar playing that is actually on this song, but he left before this video was made, so Jimmy Crespo is playing his parts.

  • Steven........young, sexy and F.I.N.E!!! Love this song, had no clue there was a vid, thanks to whoever put it on:)

  • Aerosmith!!!!!!!

  • damm y does the singer nd jimmi act like that i was thinking they were gay lol but i luv them

  • joe perry looks different!!

    (a lot different!!)

  • Yeah, because that is NOT Joe. It is Jimmy Crespo.

Joe wasn't in the band around that time and Crespo replaced him.

  • @AeroChica @ 0:21 joe is playin' that black guitar.

  • Not Joe! That's Brad Whitford.

  • brad is the first person you see!!

  • Joe isn't anywhere in this video. The guitarrists are Jimmy Crespo and Brad Whitford. The one "singing" with Steven is Jimmy, the other is Brad...

  • just shut up

  • Hahaha XD Don't get mad, you just got confused.

  • Nope that's Brad.

  • shut up

  • There have been a couple of people who have corrected you, why should we shut up? It's true.

Are you even an Aerosmith fan if you can't tell Brad from Joe?

  • idiot

  • good classic video

  • Jimmy Crespo sucks!!! Joe should be playing in this video!!!

  • u know whats weird look up "guitar hero aerosmith behind the scenes" and click on the longer timed one and steven will take a lyric from "no surprize" at 3:28 in the music video and say it in the "behind the scenes" one lol its creepy!

  • Why is Joey Kramer playing the drums wearing a suit and tie like he's going to a wedding or something? Funny.

    Good video.

  • its funny how there singing a song about how they got together and became big...without one of the origonal members...

  • i do agree with that but aerosmith isnt aerosmith without joe

  • Steven said this was his favorite song that the band did, but it's just not the same without Joe.

  • Used to hate this song until I played GH: Aerosmith. Now I like it. The Crespo & Dufay era is vastly underrated.

  • @Jamo28hhh It's in GH because is one of their best songs.

  • Comment removed

  • @Jamo28hhh agreed. it's underrated. there are many great songs on those (one or) two records.

But the thing is that although they played majority of songs, Joe Perry did the composing (Night in the Ruts).

This gem's riff was composed by Perry (as far as I know). You can probably notice the resemblance between this riff and his signature sound. :)

  • @Jamo28hhh fuck you and fuck guitar hero

this song rules and you shoulda known that the first time you heard it

  • @aerosmith425

I don't give a flying fuck who the hell you THINK you are, but your attitude blows. Sit and spin, asshole!

  • @Jamo28hhh hey chill the fuck out man

  • @Jamo28hhh but they have nothing on the brad whitford and joe perry combo

  • steven tyler is SO hot!

  • PLEASE DONT READ THIS!In 1971 a guy named Kyle an his girlfriend Emily were in side a house that was said to claim peoples lives if they entered the house. The next morning a guy named Alex saw fingernail marks on the door.if you dont post this to 5 videos, youll be getting a visit from Kyle and Emily tonight!WARNING:this has been proved to be real,i value my life!whoever reads this may God be with you! I TRULY DO APOLOGIZE!!! PS i got this from another vid ( i am not taking my chances

  • youre not taking the chances! well i am, and i guarantee 100% no guys gunna come to my door! retard duh these are fake, its off freakin youtube! wow

  • they must have just been startin up

  • No they started over 10 years earlier than this.

  • 10 years earlier was 1961 but steven tyler and joe perry didn't meet until 1969 and aerosmith formed in 1970

  • No this was 1979. 10 years earlier was 1969.

  • Joe looks way different in this video.

  • That's not Joe, it's Jimmy Crespo.

Joe was out of the band around this time.

  • Oh now I see, Thank you for informing me.

  • Joe Perry Project between 79 and 84...isn't it? XD

  • dude they dont look like nerds the thing is if ya havent noticed they always use old fashion clothes cuz thats why all of there songs represent of the olden days

  • !!!sʞɔoɹ ɥʇıɯsoɹǝɐ

  • LOL. Nice pants there Steven :P

  • very cool version!

  • Fave moment 2:22 where Crespo is looking at cue card (?) to sing w/ Steven, he messes up and does a playful bite at 2:28. You rarely see Jimmy smile.

  • Upload Make It!

    I love all Aerosmith songs.

  • kool whats your fav

  • Combination, Let the music do the talking,Something Beautiful,Sweet Emotion,Walk This Way (both versions) and Train Kept a rolling.

    Those are my faves.

  • this song rocks

  • this and F.I.N.E are my all time favorite songs that Aerosmith has made so far! they are my favorite band and Steven and Joe are so hotttt!

  • Steven Tyler's favourite according to the Aerosmith website.

It's good Steven, but not THAT good.

    =P

  • I think Aerosmith was great in their "drug years"they rocked with raw power then, not commercially driven

  • @tlctwin if they was to keep on doing drugs they use too they would be dead by now

  • @tlctwin what-did YOU that? Good one T!!

  • @tlctwin what-did YOU that? Good one T!! She got somethin from me!

  • this may be their best song....yet you never hear it on commercial radio.

  • Most of what you hear on the radio these days is crap...Commercial crap.

  • I agree, today's music is just candy store rock and roll.

  • drug addict or not, Steven Tyler is allways HOT!!!

  • The USA's answer to the Rolling Stones....what a great band.

  • Pretty much. it's funny how Aerosmith emerged right as the Stones were going through a lackluster period and were being upstaged by these guys, and then when the Stones re-emerged with Some Girls in '78, Aerosmith started falling apart. Both survived intact to this day, but i can't stand either band's output from the last 20 years.

  • Yeah, he was still stoned at this point.

  • Not only stoned, but this was the beginning of the worst part of his drug addiction, which lasted through the reviled "Rock In A Hard Place" album and dissipated somewhat by "Done With Mirrors" but he was not totally over it until after the latter had been recorded. He said if he had cleaned himself up before the "Done With Mirrors" album, he would've totally nixed the screwed-up marketing of it, not to mention the laughable album cover, which could only be read by mirror!

  • Was Steven still doing drugs in the 80's?

  • Yeah...Until mid 80's I think.

  • Do you know when this video let out?

  • I think is from 1980...

  • no,they were still doing him! LOLOL! they all had to quit in '87 for the corporation to accept them back to the mainstream-which was the worst move they ever made!!!!! These guys NEED drugs!
