NO! They are both pure GE with FDL 16 cylinders prime mover. Of the U30C's, it is one of the 180 built originally for the BN. Total U30C's built was 600. The second unit is a C30-7, with the same FDL engine, one of 242 built for BN, and a total of 1137 units built. Thanks for looking. Jackmp294
This was taken in Northern Michigan near Marquette. I took videos in 2005-06-07, and these units are still running. But you better hurry, because they are on borrowed time, and they are trying out some SD60's. There is a nice campground near the ore dock at Marquette, (City Campground) and laying in the tent at night listening to those GE's switch the ore dock, then make a run for the hill up to Eagle Mills is unforgetable. Thanks for watching. Jack
I sure love that sound of the classic Us.. They sounded so good echoing through the woods back in the day. But what makes them sound more unique compared to todays GEs? The "Chug,Chug,Chug" is more intense and stronger sounding.
I remember those good old hard working ge u333 cs pulling freight trains from Bayard,Ne to Angora hill to Alliance, Ne. WAY TO GO BULINGTON NOTHERN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Them and the Dash 7's, about the last decent diesels that GE ever built...anymore all I ever see are 9s and Gevos with that turbobark/alco smoke/black soot.

Around how many trains run there on a daily basis? Love the GE's. I have been making a slideshow of GE engines and those would be trophies!

Wonder if those engines might be old enough to have the contracted ALCO engines in them....look at the smoke!

Not as lovable as the Alcos they replaced, but the kind of grow on ya! Gotta like a machine that LOOKS like it's working hard.

Those babies sound good. From what I understand, they are going to be replaced soon also. It will be sad to see them go also. Take care, Jack
