@Talondas anyway I LOVE yucca spindles and sycamore hearth wood. Best combination I know, but many are useable. My friend even made it work with Pine LOL, and around here poplar is pretty common...take care!
I've been enjoying your videos a lot in the past few days. I was thinking about starting a archery club round here and working on instinctive shooting skills, and shooting in a variety of situations with varying target types and scenarios... just need to see if there is interest from folks around asheville and a place to do it... any ideas or interest? i have a few extra bows and a couple of targets, i'm sure we could make more on the cheap...
Sounds cool, I've got a bunch of eq at the school, probably 10 bows...but some are better than others, and only three recurves. Thanks for watchin man, see you soon
lol I had to look carefully to remember - that's a leaf catching the coal, just, like oak or something. I usually have birch bark around though, I'm sure some in the bag there :) One of my fav's. The birch is great as a 'starter-booster' fuel, hard to go from coal to flame with, but the BEST from flame to fire. thanks 4 checkin it out
Hmm...

Would love to but I'm stuck in SE Texas at the moment. Next time I'm planning a trip to your neck of the woods I'll drop you a line. ;-)

Cool vid....just what would those "common" materials be exactly?
Hearth and spindle specifically.

Is that a curl of Birch Bark I see?
I've never had much sucess with friction fire, I've only done it with prepped ingridients from someone else, under direct instruction.
