Don't know about any recordings, but he did appear in the 1946 movie "Bringing Up Father" based on the comic strip about Jiggs & Maggie as a piano player, and again as a piano player in a 1947 film noir called "Fall Guy". There is a Youtube video of Struttin' Jim another of his earlier compositions.

This tune is by Bob Carelton who also wrote the jazz classic Ja-Da.
