  • So moving... it's awesome to hear all the main motifs of the concerto coincide together at the coda.

  • oh my goodness so suspenseful this piece!!!!! I love Shostakovich!!!!!

  • like 1:00 onwards suspense is mind boggling

  • David Oistrakh is the king of violin and the king of bowing

  • Oistrakh and Kogan are two "bright shining stars" in the sky.

I have not (yet) seen any modern violin player come close to their artistic level!

The only contemporary player I like is Hilary Hahn. She is not too far from this giants.

  • GENIUS !!!!!!!!!!!

  • i like the way kogan performs it more... it sounds more fierce, more inhuman. love oistrakh always, but for reasons that make his rendition of this concerto naturally more forgiving than it should sound.

  • Performances like these used to be televised, if only they did that now.

  • @JohnEBPiano . Absolutely! I always watched televised musical performances of great artists like Oistrakh, but it seems that those days are gone now. I won't mention what's on tv now - not worth the trouble.

  • i got heartattack after this......

  • and bravo!

  • immediately into my favorites thank you. and by the way, this is a picture of mad genius gone shastokovich on us who care about the pleasurable preservation of greatness.

  • Genius in his element ...

  • The focus, pacing, and endurance are all great. Sadly I'm too young to ever have seen him play.

  • @A4440HZ i share your pain :( haha

  • @jminjaresboy me too!!!!

  • nobody better!!

  • מעולה!

    הכנר של המאה העשרים!

הוא פשוט גאון בצליל בלגטו , בהכל.....

    Perfect

  • SO sick i fucking love violin

    can't play it though :(

  • He doesn't overdo it...he just does it.

  • You wouldn't happen to have Ricci doing this, would you? I don't believe he ever recorded it but I know he performed it a few times; thought there might be a bootleg?

  • No one plays this better than Oistrakh.

  • Wasn't it written for him? I heard that it was...but I can't remember from where.

  • it was written for him.

as well as the 2nd concerto

  • i think you have to hear Leonid Kogan's version. I thinkit 's the best in this concerto

  • on dit que ce concerto décrit la terreur stalinienne. on sent la peur du compositeur.

  • Such a wonderful thorough musician.David Oistrakh played with such a beautiful quality.I heard him in London.

  • @cattleman6420012000 your lucky! His my favorite. He's the kind, the god!
