Ritchie is usually given credit because of his shredding skills, as he was the first who ever played that fast and also endorsed classical music in rock. But he is much more than "just" technically good guitarist, he has great feeling for blues and is capable of playing with so much soul, which is noticeable in ballads like this. He is really a unique guitarist in a way of having skill, feeling and being capable to always find a perfect balance between the two.
@repetitivemotion He was my biggest inspiration as well. Blackmore, Iommi, Tipton, Buxton, Hanneman, Van Halen, De Lucia, on and on from there in odd directions, but always... Blackmore was in front. He demonstrated that you don't necessarily have to shred to be heavy. But you can shred when the music is asking for it.
Marvelous song,...make you a little bit sad,....but keep you moving though. Its time to pick up the pieces and continue your journey. There's no more holding back!!
The way it is built up to the dramatic final part is simply awesome. I listened to Rainbow during the 80's but I never quite discover how good this is until now, thanks man.
I think the discusion of who´s the best guitarist, lies in the ears of the beholder, when they reaches the class of Mr Blackmoore, mr Moore, Sir Page and late Mr Vaughn!
@demonsgate66 As i said, when you reach that class...... There is also Slash, Ry cooder, Santana, Yngwie malmsteen! Would you like to choose the best of these guys? LOL
Blackmore and Page are the best. One may argue who's even better among these two, and this debate may last really forever. They still stay THE BEST. All others may want to struggle for being runners-up - that's the maximum they can attain..
@BlackCrowNavajo Here's a tie-breaker for you: Jimmy Page pretty much retired 30 years ago, but Blackmore is STILL playing...granted, I'm not much of a Renaissance Faire music fan, but Blackmore played rock music for nearly 20 years longer than Page did. Blackmore wins by his sheer volume of music played...
@DennisGW10 you're right, that's true. But again - I simply can't give preference to any of these two myself. Ritchie's been amazing both when he did Child in Time and when he did Under the Violet Moon with Candice tens of years after...
@Fritheby hard to argue! Toni's just yet another fantastic musician and hard-rock would have been much poorer without his absolutely unique style. and that's a matter of mere personal taste. and I fully appreciate it. it can be a neverending debate if Page is better than Blackmore, or if Ozzi is better than Dio. As long as we all repsect the taste of others, that's normal!..
Blackers remains to this day my all time favourite guitarist no other i have heard can create so many emotions with the guitar a true genius who for some reason is ridiculously underated
This is one of the prettiest songs ever! Ritchie is a guitar god and very underrated in my opinion, the only other guy that can play something this nice sounding on a guitar is Jeff Beck. Unbelievable feel, Ritchie one of the absolute greats of all time!!!
the GREATEST EVER! who would argue that he invented some of the chops that guitarists of today does. A hored of Rockers considered Blackmore as the MASTER and the truth is HE IS!
Te felicito Andria por el video. Siempre escuché éste tema pero ahora, con tu video, le diste una vuelta de rosca más a lo que siento al escucharlo. Hermoso, simplemente. Saludos amigos!
one and only classical music educated guitarist of all times, Mr Ritchie Blackmore!! Only Rock music lovers like us know how gifted he is, and how lucky we are to have him in Rock music world...
Agree about the photos. But they would be better in Seattle, with Puget Sound in the foreground and the sun setting over the peaks of the Olympic Mountains. Trust me...
Excellent ! De la musique comme ça, c'est dur a trouver maintenant.

I have heard some people say that there is plenty of guitarists, who's much better than God Ritchie.
These people should die in their own puke of blood.
Bow down before Sir Ritchie Blackmore,
The Master of the Universe!!!
