  • Does the knee normally have a bit movement on this test? and how much is too much?

  • เคยเป็น แล้ว ทรมาน มากกกกกกกกกกกก

  • hallo doctor

is this guy anesthetized? that drawer is crazy big compared to mine afte i tore my acl

  • holy shit!! I defiantly don't have a torn ACL, I been searching for info cause I feel pain in the outer right side of the right knee in the head of the fibula, just after the fibula ends and the knee connects, if I put pressure there it hurts, it's been hurting for aabout 3 months, I'm not exacly sure why, it doesn't hurt if I run or walk but if I do a sideflip or a 360 gymnastic vault it hurts in the air.. weird, really sharp pain that only last less the a minute, I gotta go to the doc.

  • my shoulder does the same thing yer knee does

  • Hi Dr. Bancha, I have dislocated my knee 3 times when I was a teenager. I am in my early twenties and I had surgery on my ligaments one month ago. The surgeon tightened my ligaments in the inner part of my knee and loosen the ligaments on the outer side. My knee was put in a long leg cast, was taken off two weeks after surgery, and is immobilized for 2 more weeks. My knee is very swollen & painful. I cannot move my kneecap for extreme pain. Is this normal?? What can I do for the swelling?

  • @TheHoliday555 hey man, are you in rehabilitation already? 2 weeks immobilized, followed by more 2 weeks immobilized, of course will result in a lot of pain to move your knee, and the entire leg ... you need some phisioterapy to reactive your leg moviment, and at the begin, it will result in a lot of pain ...

  • @Whiskmos hey dr. bancha, after 4 weeks of immobility i started physical therapy, slowly bending and messaging my knee, icing and hot baths. after 5 weeks of physical therapy i have 130 degrees mobility and we have been doing muscle building exercises for thigh and calf muscle. the pain wasn't that bad. but the therapists think i may have some scar tissue, b/c i have pain under and around the incision when i am sitting down for a long time. thanks for your advice!

  • Hello Dr Bancha, i had dislocated my patella a few times. The first one was the worst, couldn´t walk and needed 2 weeks imobilized. The following ones were a lot more light and after some days, i continued to play tennis like nothing happened. Now it happened again, with a huge sound, and im felling something wrong, like a small cartilage floating inside my knee, from there to there. Im thinking about a surgery, this can be fixed? can i play tennis in high level? IM AFRAID! Thanks for attention!

  • That is horrid

  • I torn my acl in march 9 ,2011 playing basketball and having surgery on June 17,2011 :/

  • what he's doing is just making it worse i guarantee ya

  • Oh shoot ! It look so painful owh!!

  • i tore my acl and had surgery. what kind of time frame will i be looking at before i can run and work out?

  • Dr. Bancha,

my injury happened a month ago (playing soccer). My knee pop'd and dislocated.

I got x-rays taken. My knee cap is not back in place. It's sticking up and out, look like an inch. The ortho specialist diagnose my right knee with a tear in the ACL.

I'm waiting for the MRI appointment...which could be a month to two months from now.

How do i go about this?

Do I get it repositioned? I'm afraid that it will cause more damage to my ACL and Meniscus.

  • @bsifez

    Dear bsifez

You may have both ACL injury and patella( Knee cap) dislocation. The most important thing is to reduce the knee cap back in place. For the ACL, we can wait to do the reconstruction later. The results is prettey good, don't worry.

    Good luck

    Dr.Bancha Chernchujit

  • @Dr. Bancha

Thank you Dr. Bancha for your speedy reply and for putting my mind at ease.

You are a good man. Bless you.

I'm going tomorrow to the emergency for the reduction. I will let you know how it goes.

    Thanks again.

  • @bsifez Ice Elevation Compression Ice Elevation Compression Ice Elevation Compression Ice Elevation Compression Ice Elevation Compression Ice Elevation Compression Ice Elevation Compression Ice Elevation Compression once an hour if you can, until all swelling and pain is gone.

  • I like the couch. Looks like someone's Mom was more stressed out than the patient... either that or some intern is trying to get a better grade. (That was low, sorry!)

  • pcl tear

  • oh wow!!!!!!!!

  • I tore my ACL, PCL, LCL, and meniscus two months ago in China, they did this pulling my leg back and forth test and I was like OMG WTF are you doing?!?!?! haha, they didn't really explain what they were doing like this guy does

  • How long does it take for the recovery?

  • @filipinomadman a torn ACL is the worse ligament to tear, your look at about 6+ months depending on rehabilitation!

  • @NEILTRIVEDI Ohh, thats sounds like a long a painful recovery.

  • It hhurts really really bad. Im fourteen & its happened to me already : [

  • Oh my god! My knees are tingling just watching this. I never ever want to dislocate or tear anything, the pain must be excrutiating

  • I dislocated my knee and tore my ACL, my PCL, and sprained something else. The injury was due to me tripping while running.

  • That actually doesn't hurt at all. I tore my ACL and the orthopaedist do that so they can possibly pinpoint which ligament/tendon has been torn. It looks more gross than anything.

  • eww.that was sick!!!

    cool.i wonder if it hurts?

  • I tore my ACL, PCL and MCL all in one injury. This doesn't hurt at all. The worst part of it is watching them do it.

It's more a psychological pain if anything because (for me at least) I felt no physical pain from having my knee moved all over

  • I had ACL reconstruction. on January 09. and now nearly june 09.

I'm still haveing to walk with crutches.

i can't evan walk norm without it playing up.

Oh yea screws have come loose too

  • Man that sucks for you. You need to go back. I was off crutches in a little over a month. Ended up just using one crutch. I tore my ACL Aug. '07. I wish it had never happened =[ damnit!

  • Damn dude now u got me all fucked up now LOL.......im getting ready to get my ACL fixed

  • i did the same as this. dislocated my knee and tore my mcl acl and pcl, sucks!! feelin good now tho. got having a pcl reconstruction tho

  • even when the guy is doing the test, you can see the acl is totally gone.

  • wow it looks like my knee I tore my PCL at work! four years ago I saw FIVE doctors they all missed the PCL tear cuz my mri was misread I told them it wrong but they wouldnt belive me! I kept fighting it till I finally found a PCL specialist who finally got my knee diagnosed right now tx work comp is saying I never hurt it at work and shut me off! My doc is mad!
  • hmmm i know the ligaments are torn let me wiggle the shit out of it maybe that will make things better...

  • he's demonstrating the drawer test done to determine whether or not the ACL and PCL are torn. yes, it hurts, but is necessary for a good diagnosis.

  • yea but it seems once or twice would suffice oorrr an mri cause it seems to me that doin that would further mess up his knee and what if it was a partial tear then he goes ahead and tears the rest of it idk it just seems kinda impractical

  • so they send someone to get an expensive MRI without having any clue if they need one in the first place? lol right. and if it really was further damaging it, do you honestly think millions of doctors and physical therapists everywhere would be using this test? you really think they didn't think it through before using it?

  • it takes a LOT to tear a cruciate ligament.. even partially. Say you needed X newtons of force to partially/fully tear a ligament. The amount of force you inflict on your knee when you jump approx 1m into the air and land is only 1/3X newtons.

so pulling it will not do anything to it. that's why many players survive with partially torn ACLs, and it takes them YEARS to fully tear it.

  • ohh.. alright well thanks for informing me with out being a doucher haha

  • @nashstruck i tore mine doin motocross and i fell from about 25 feet and the bike landed on me so ill just let you know that that is enough to tear it lol

  • it doesn't, or shouldn't hurt, when you get it tested like that.

  • i never said it does...

  • same thing happened to me. form soccer.. :( it sucks

  • i have the same injury, but doctors said no to cirurgy...can´t solve the problem...

  • Does it hurt when the doctor does that? Same question as nicholas112588, how did this injury occur?

    Thanks!

  • The patient fell from height and her knee was dislocated. The major ligaments of the knee were torn. It doesn't hurt when I do the examination.

    Regards

    Dr.Bancha

  • Thanks!

  • @drbancha

I fell off my ATV out in the desert, i felt and heard a pop in my knee, When i tried to walk, i fell because my leg just under my knee buckled and moved away, i can not walk at all or put weight on my left leg, i had an MRI done and have to wait another week to see a orthopedic surgeon, do you think i tore my ligaments in my left knee, it is bruised on both sides, but hard to tell because of my skin tone(very tan) i get pain in my knee like it is twisted. what do you think?

  • @BebopBluesM11

I would say yes because in my knee injury the same thing happened when i tryed to walk on it, it may not be very severe but who knows till the MRI. For me i completely ruptured it and need to get it replaced in a surgery in two months. good luck

  • How does this happen, I'd really like to know so I can avoid it as much a spossibe.

    :(

  • Dear Nicholas

The patient fell from height and her knee was dislocated. The major ligaments of the knee were torn.

    Regards

    Dr.Bancha

  • Oh wow, Thanks for the answer.

    I appreciate it.

Sorry to bother you, but do you know about how far you'd have to fall for this to occur?

    Thanks!

    -Nick

  • there are tons of ways people can tear their ACL and or PCL. just be careful with yourself. you can't catalogue every way there is to possibly injure yourself and avoid all of them... because you can get hurt doing practically anything!

  • @nicholas112588 Dude u cant try to avoid it.. i play baseball alot and i dislocated the patella and almost tore my 2 mayor ligaments.. if u try to avoid it den ur just not gona have any fun and do stuff beign scared that this happens
