Im writing a psychological analysis of this film, last year i wrote about it from a sociological perspective.feral children are very interesting. it really brings you to see that without the required nurture, a child can grow up to be no different than an animal.
I think victor is smarter than most people because he learned to survive for most of his life with nobody there to teach him how sure he wasn't educated and couldn't speak and was wild. But he learned what most of us dont learn until adulthood how to survive on his own
@Kylena1000 He only manages to survive with aid. Without that aid, he would just stand somewhere in the woods and .. well yea, that's it, he would just stand.
My grandfather, who didn't speak French but who had lived a life of privation, understood the meaning of this film. I think of him whenever I think of this film.
victor was so misunderstood, it's so sad! this movie is amazing and i want everybody who reads this review to go out right now and rent it from the nearest video store. trust me.
This why I believe parental leave in those years is vital. Also early childhood education is essential. I know some Conservatives balk at paying taxes for this but that is misguided and huge mistake. Loss of human potential is a huge loss for society.
They were trying to teach him. Yeah, their methods were different, but also keep in mind the time period. Humans have come a long way on how to teach children with disabilities.
I don't think they were trying to be cruel or anything, they just weren't sure how to approach the situation.
Je sais bien que cette est une réalité très dure, trop triste... mais, en ce qui concerne au film, à toute l'idée, Truffaut est, comme d'habitude, magnifique!!, très émouvant... Sublime!!

Notice the windows (open&closed, filming through them) in Truffaut's films.

@actressgeek Yes you are right ,but it is a bit brutal to see ,how they punish/teach him.
But i think so it is the only way to make him being like a human.
