@StraytRayzorSymphony There are a lot of non band christain bands that are also worth listening to. It really dosent matter what religion they are as long as you like their music. And to be honest this song actually sounds pretty evil.
@LaneTheSlain idk, man. i usually dont pay any attention to bands that label themselvs as "{insert random religion here} Metal" . it comes off as gimmicky and silly. i always liked Mortiian because they had some face melting sweep-picking and evil sounding tech-bass guitar.
I was looking at Heart of the Warrior's listing of favourite albums. I had "Scrolls" first, so when I got PMA, I said, what the heck is this? It has grown on me considerably since then, and remains my all time fave. The early stuff definitely better.
My favorite cd of there's I was fortunate to see them 3 or 4 times when they came to america.
Steve is very humble I asked him about being a death metal bassist and he named like 4 other bassist and told me to listen to them and that he was not anything special. He got cancer and almost died. He said and angel appeared to him and said God would save him after that he was even more christian.
@daesu74 Got cancer and almost died? Steve was on his deathbed for years. He practically went bankrupt trying to fight it. Only God knows how he made it through, but I'll be damned if he isn't the modern-day equivalent to Job.
Even more Christian? You are or you aren't. There is no grey. He wasn't "less Christian" before the cancer.
@TheMortallyWounded there's such thing as being more religious (ie. believing more strongly in certain elements of christianity or being more devout and worshipping more often and following the teachings of the bible more closely)
I agree, that Steve Rowe should have done more songs like this, this is very creative metal,I think they tried so many styles, that by the time, they would try to create, something like this, they couldn't,they sould have done an album like this, at teast once in a while,so that they did not loose the feel of it.
After this album, the drummer, Jayson Sherlock (who did the artwork on first 3 LPs) left to be in a more "hardcore" band (Paramaecium). A couple albums later the guitarist left too and it was just Steve Rowe the bass / singer who kept the band going. After this album they weren't as good...but that's how most all bands are...the earlier albums are better...ie. Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, Motorhead, etc. After they get bigger they usually lose their edge and mellow out.
@jeffreyindeed i agree and verry much disagree aswell lol jason sherlock did leave but the band he joined ie paramaecium where by no means more hardcore than mortification........they where the first ever christian DOOM metal band ...if you where to say he left morts...played in paraemacium....but then formed his solo project HORDE who where way more hardcore than morts then you would be correct ....not that you where wrong to start with :)
@kendoka666 I receive that bro...I just thought Paramaecium was more "hardcore" from what I could remember...at my age memory is getting a little foggy...ha ha...God bless you brother.
@BOUKEBANDSTRA technically Trouble wernt a christian band they were just marketed as a christian band because of their biblical lyrics which Metal Blade thought would sell their albums to a larger market and besides Mortification are more of a death metal band than a doom metal band
@jeffreyindeed Have you even heard The sytem has failed? United Abominations? LET ALONE ENDGAME? you listen to them and tell me theyve mellowed out, yah head crusher is a really mellow song
ALL THE BANDS MELLOWED OUT, THEN, COME, 2000, STARTED TRYING (SOMETIMES FAILING (METALLICA TILL D.M.), SOMETIMES SUCCEEDING (MEGADETH) TO BE "BRUTAL" AGAIN!

@jeffreyindeed I think becoming mellow is very often not the concsequence of success but of aging
heythinkaboutit 1 year ago 2
@jeffreyindeed 1. Paramaecium was a doom metal band, not "hardcore"
2. Megadeth albums have remained consistently good.
3. Mortifications lyrics became more intense for their purpose of spreading the kingdom, even if their music and singing got worse.
cornsnicker3 1 year ago 2
@cornsnicker3 He wasn't talking about the genre hardcore, but using hardcore as an adjective, as in "badass" or something similar.
