How the hell is the game more accurate? You never get to really see the inner workings of the Borgia on a day to day basis in the game because you're Ezio. You see the people trying to kill Ezio, not the family trying to bring unity to Rome. My god, you want them to match perfectly to their 1493 counterparts? That's asking way too much. Just try and enjoy the show.
Is there going to be a season 2 of this show.. It took me the first two episodes to really get into it, and then I knocked out the rest of the season over a weekend. I really hope they show how cunning and violent and brutally cruel Cesare really was. He was a monster that united Italy and brought peace to the people. Master of deception; his father was the master of manipulation, and his sister; the master of seduction, and Juan, the master of.......drinking and banging whores
I saw the first season, and i have to say i want more!, it's incredible how in "those times" catholic church was so appart from the real faith. that is a historical fiction based in real life of Borgia Family.Lucrezia who was a killer and also one of the most beautiful women from her age, Lord Byron read her letter to Alfonso Deste and he said " the most beauty letter of love i have read". The casting looks like the real paintings almost Lucrezia and Cesare. Sorry for my English.
Or better still, if people want "historical accuracy" they might want to go to historical books or sources...not some tv series or videogames expecting to learn "how everything really happened".
Also, who cares how they looked like?? Of course actors won't look the same as their historical counterparts while a videogame (as an animation) doesn't have this problem.
This show is simply amazing! This is why I want to be a history major. I tried watching Showtime's "The Borgias" after this and it simply did not compare.
If you want historical accuracy play Assassin's creed 2 and Assassin's Creed Brotherhood. IT's far better then any of these crap tv show. I know it's strange that a game has more real events then a tv show, but there you go...
@Andrei1889 Assassin's Creed = historical accuracy ?! Are you serious ? They even state in the beginning of the game that the events are fictional...
@cirmiz I didn't said that Assassin's Creed is historical accurate. What i am saying is that the game is more accurate then this tv show. And you might learn a thing or two from the game. For starters how the borgias really look like, and nothing at all as the tv show.
I just watched the whole season ...and holy cow was it 9 shades of AWESOME!!!!! haven't seen the other Borgia series....but I cannot imagine that it could hold up to this series!!!!!
By the way before the Mafia weren't the Borgia, but rich and powerful landowners who took power over southern Italy while the region was anarchic (VI-X century A.D.) and carried on existing under the Norman, French, Spanish and Bourbon rule and which the Italian reing/republic did nearly nothing to eradicate (brave magistrate are just killed). Nowadays they are corrupted businessmen with armies of henchmen protected by fear. Just to say the truth about my homeland internal troubles.
The accents not syncing bothered me in English, especially since I watched it with the German dub first. Other than that, soooo much better then the other Borgias series in terms of everything from the acting to the setting.
@LaMarquiseDeMerteuil - well, both were in the making and then it was too late to do one together. yes, it is a strange coincidence but as such a nice opportunity for fans of high quality TV-series to compare, compete and hopefully not compromise;-)
@BGI2011 I've fully watched this European one and it's extremely well made, although it lacks massive action scenes [they all last 10 seconds :-( ] and some of the alteration to historical truth are extremely great: Giulia Farnese's husband Orso Orsini, for istance, is depicted has paying two bandits to disfigure Giulia and then Rodrigo has him killed by Michele Corella, shown as Juan's bravo instead of Cesare's. All wrong :-|
@HistoryLover1550 I've seen the whole series in Italy. Of course, it is a historical drama, not a documentary: here and there, Fontana changed the documented historical truth, but mostly by working on the unsaid, and often in the background or in the storylines of secondary characters. There are scenes, lines, even, that I read in books and I found in the series exactly as I imagined them.
I have seen both this, and the showtime version, and i like this version a whole lot more i hope there is a season 2 planned for this show

is this a current competitor to 'the Borgias' with Jeremy Irons? looks good but why make another series, at the same time, about the same topic?
