  • how did you get those extra pictures?

  • and im sorry to ask but if possible.....i would like to know what music you used please :)

ik you must get this alot or from a few people and im sorry, but you never know till you try, right?

  • my god.....as soon as i saw that map when u zoomed out.....i was at an awe.....now i must try this game....

  • Can I have a full list of music used in the video?

  • me gusta el video

  • umm how do you engage space battles

  • @urollx To engage in full space battles, have your fleet attack another fleet.

Or there is something in the options that will help you.

  • @dnzrx There's an option that lets you do it without fleets too

  • ok a question: This is twilight of the arnor right? So the question is what kinda PC are you using I have a what you would call and "uber" computer :D and still it lags to me when I engage in combat with more than 5 ships, I dunno why the comp is like 6 months old so I was just wondering what configuration do you have?

  • @Overlord595 Yeah this is Twilight of the Arnor. I am using a Pentium III 2.2ghz, 1GB RAM and a Geforce 9100GT 256MB VRAM.

  • @Overlord595 Get a Geforce 9100GT, it is a very powerful card. Newer and faster than the last generation's kick-ass Geforce 8800GT! It can run anything fine.

  • @creamie123 thx for the reply but the problem fixed by itself :)

  • can you make you own ships or are they already made?

if not oh well this game looks cool

if yes yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!my dream game is found

  • @michaelman154 Yes you can make your own ships, adding weapons, engines etc etc... its a really good game in my opinion, and very addictive...

  • @slothbat999 It's good, but it requires too much micro-management, at least for me. Unlike in Master of Orion II, you have to micro-manage every space tile in your systems in the outbreak of a war. You don't want a ship to suddenly warp in and destroy your important space stations or spore ships to lay waste to important core worlds out of the blue. Especially on immense maps, the amount of patience needed can be tremendous with hundreds of worlds to take care of ...

  • @creamie123 Good points... I guess im just one of those people who actually like that sort of thing :P

Although yes, it is based alot on micro-managing which can get abit frustrating at times...

  • The music of the Equilibrium was a great choice!

How can i change to the combat view? I'we had never figured that one out. I can onla watch, that the attacker shots once and the defender shoots once (if it can :D) and thats it... it is really not much eyecandy like in this video.

    Pleas answer this!

  • @fatherdoctor you only get these battle scenes if you have a fleet which fights against an enemy fleet. if you or the enemy only has one ship in its fleet, you only get the thing you described.

  • in Master of Orion series, you arm your ships (their frames are predesigned and the equipment do not affect the appearance of the craft), direct 'em and then take control of them in battle, while in Space Empires series it's pretty much the same but in GalCiv II you design the frames, add equipment to those and then in space battles you just hope for the best. I think that this game is a cross of Master of Orion (setting, planetary colonization, ship design" with Civilization (combat, tech, etc)

  • is this Dread lords? or some other expansion Im unaware of???

  • Watching you rotating, zooming the camera freely make me feel sad for my old computer :(

  • Thumbs up as ratings is disabled great video great game! Not as good as Space Rangers 2 though!

  • the battles are so mechanical, but larger scale ones like this seem extremely cinematic

  • I can win the game just fine if I can keep my population happy so I can have a good sold income to build the ships and upgrades

  • how do you mod this game

  • I'd spend 101€ On the following game.

GC2 combined with Nexus the jupiter incident + IG2 + Master of Orion2

2 DVDs - intelligence, diplomacy, colony. (only coding) (best AI uptoday)

  • in cooperation with scientists, graphicartists, drawer, former fbi agents, former political members, psychologists

2 DVDs 10 - races 5 minor races. each one extreme unique. (some years developmenttime) [special assigned designer teams for this dvd] in coorperation with psychologists

2 DVDs graphic textures. When it comes to fight, it switches into the 3d mode like nexus. But with thousands of ships in realtime. With adjustable graphicsettings for the dogfight.

    Developmenttime about 5-10 years.

  • does this game has similar battle style similar to the game "Sins of a Solar Empire"? are the battles here RTS, Turn-Based. or just plainly simulated? I need some answers because Im deciding whether to get this or "Sins of a Solar Empire".

  • @fatdaleon the battles are just simulated, and work with a stone - scissor - paper mechanic, also i dont know, why this looks that good in that vid. generally the ships look a lot more like rubberducks.

  • @20sidetDice its totally up to you how you make your ships look like. if you dont add even 10 min to your design, it´ll look really simple, like some legos... I usually put around 15-20 minutes to my designs, I add a lot detail, and thats how they look awesome, like on this vid.

  • @fatdaleon This game is turnbased, but either game can take up TREMENDOUS amounts of time to play a single game. Both are amazing games, but it depends on the style of gaming. I honestly prefer Galciv because in SOASE (in my experience) 80% of the time the enemies just spam destructors, which is EXTREMELY annoying. Also, in Galciv, diplomacy is MUCH better and there are more ways to win a game (technology, diplomacy, influence, and of course, military).

  • @fatdaleon Though Galciv can be hard to get used to, and is not for the impatient learner.

  • dang, maps dont even get that big in dread lords!

  • i still play this game today , twilight of arnor , i enjoy the most building my own ships , inspired from sf movies and my own concepts . and in game armed to the teeth. its simply awesome. who likes a strategy game , with this one wil have lots of fun.

  • Yeah...YEAH!!!

  • The graphics look like crap...sigh

  • @jfrcks This game is two years old! Whilst I admit there still not great, there not THAT bad... IMHO anyway...

  • It sucks, I saw some video of a similar game called X3 and it looked 10 times better!

  • @jfrcks X3 isn't a strategy game like GalCiv2 is, it's a space sim. But yes, the visuals do look shoddy, the question is 'who cares' since frankly if you're the type to judge a game from visuals alone then this isn't the type of game you'd enjoy anyway.

  • @Carthane

I don't play a game for visuals alone, but they do often play an important part. Good game play is more important, but in this case the ugliness of this game really changes the balance for me, for the same reason why I hate to play chess with ugly modern style chess pieces.

  • I also want to add that I've been an amateur astronomer for many years, the beauty of the universe never ceases to amaze me and it's that beauty that's partly the reason why I'm looking out of these games, but if it's ugly like hell, then no thanks...

  • out of=out for

  • @jfrcks X3 is a space simulator of unimagined depth and complexity. GalCiv 2 is a strategy game. Huuuge difference.

  • @jfrcks X3 is a freaking role-play-space-simulator, while GC2 is space strategy. you cant really compare the two.

GC2 is amazing as strategy game, and as for graphics, they are fine for me, with all the freedom of designing your own massive fleet and going war with it.

I dont know about X3, but I´ve heard it´s amazing as space simulator.

they both are great great games, great examples of their own genres, but you cant compare two completely different games.

  • the battles are to small scale in this game

  • Hey you think you could give me some tips? I always get owned by ship maintenance fees... how do you manage to have 1200 ships?

  • @verxintRising lots and lots of markets

  • I've done that, but it seems like I can never have enough.

Usually I fill all class 6 and lower planets with markets, as well as some higher class ones and I'll have at least one planet per game with a huge population as well, sometimes two of that planet in really big games.

But I can't imagine getting to 1200 ships. I usually get to 500 or so, one time I got to 700.

  • I played on a Huge map. the last major game I wrapped up a couple weeks ago was absurd in size. I was very aggressive with the computer players. I also play with custom editor-made buildings that the computers also build that gives you ton of production/money more than the regular stuff so you can spend more time on expansion/fleet stuff than micromanagement.

  • In the most recent game I finished, it was like this: 5 races - ship count: Obamanites: 2800. Imperium: 3100, Atheist Legion: 2100, Syndicate: 2400, Me: 2800. I get Obamanites and Imperium go to war. Amazing watching dozens and dozens of computer fleets thrash each other. Surpised it didnt crash the game. Obamanites were losing, so I have the others attack the Imperium (they were extremely powerful). When they all got down to around 1000-1500 ships each, I attacked all. Destroyed them all.

  • Holy fuck I think my brain just exploded from exposure to pure awesomeness.

  • @myster1234 what difficulty was that? did you play without cheats? to me galactic civilization is a bit hard on high difficulty, and normal and easy difficulties wont build that huge fleets :( even on huge maps...

  • I put them on every planet. Atleast 3 if possible. Then i make a beeline to higher level markets in the research tree.

  • Ooh, nuke Greenpeace and the Moonbat Union!

  • 1:11 wooow! That's a epic piece of shit! It's like Supreme Commander in space.

  • @R4aurean its for intellectual people only. NO retards.

  • Supreme Commander is real-time... and maybe why it sucks so much. In Gal Civ, you can actually think about what you're doing.

  • i bought that GalCivs and I have to tell, that in SupCom you have to be smarter and think a lot faster. SupCom is a kind of a brain training, in which you have to use your brain nearly to all of its power. Maybe that's the reason you don't like it...

  • This is a classic debate between RTS and TBS (turn based, in case you're wondering). One could argue legitimately in either direction which one takes more "brain power" or "intelligence", but ultimately I think RTS comes down to finding the best and most efficient strategy and then implementing it with the fastest reflexes... Therefore its kind of like Street Fighter (great game). TBS is more about weighing options from several different variables that wouldn't be possible in real-time.

  • yes or not, i like both RTS and TBS...

  • Excellent! Good answer! Me too!

Thank you for being one of the first rational youtube debaters I've come across...

  • @R4aurean supcom is a great game, however turn based games are usually more strategically challenging. in RTS games you have to be exercised to think fast, doesn't mean you actually think more. And I'm not a great galciv supporter, i love the game and haven't played it for more than a year , I love supcom as well :)

  • So ive had Dread Lords for a long time and am looking at the expansions, and had a question.

Obviously the fleet combat is massively improved, over the original game, i was wondering if that was an improvement made by DA or TotA, ill get both eventually but im a bit low on cash at the moment so im only getting DA atm.

Just wondering if i should get my hopes up already or if ill have to wait till i get TotA to bask in this awesomeness.

  • If i remember they both work on it. The cool thing about TOA is that u have different tech trees for everyone which is COOL

  • This is one awesome looking game!

I bought it after I saw your clips.

Only 10 British Pound on Ebay for a sealed one, some snatch eh?

    Keep uploading!

    You're the man!

  • This is by far one of my favorite games.

  • This looks so unbelieavably good, what Expansion packs do you have?

  • This game is the best game ever the Best AI you can get(and it does'nt cheat)

Awesome technology tree cool races and a small sense of Humor :D everyone should buy this game from Impulse . com

just search Stardock Impulse and download it and buy the game + expansions I got it and I have never regret it

  • buy all of them these games are truly awesome =] and based on real known knowledge =]

  • Hey Myster1234 what version of GC2 is this you are playing? Is it both the Expansions? ANd would recommend buying them?

    Plus cool video:)

  • whenever I pay for a ship in full and i don't have enough money i'll go like -30000 bc, but when I hit next turn it goes to -2000 bc can you explain this to me?? is this a bug?

  • no, because in the game you are allowed to have a deficit and spend money you don't have (like Obama). So you go -30000 and all production of other stuff halts (no money!). But perhaps your income each turn is like 28000 so if you spend money and go -30000 in one turn, in the next turn, you will get your normal income which will cut down how much you owe.

  • Oh yeah blame Obama, he's really the first president to spend money he didn't have. All that money for Iraq just fell out of Bush's pockets. Oh yeah but they weren't his pockets they were the damn Saudis!

  • @myster1234 Its a bit late but I laughed so hard about (Like Obame) hahahahaha

  • ..daaamn .. i tryed to buy this today ^^ ... but i was to lazzy ..an stoned an sleepd to long (much m uch to long) -.- hope i had tomorror the GUTS to stand up ! :P peace

  • 3:25 That ship looks like the Starship Enterprise(Star Trek the next gereration)

  • lol yes, i actually made a ship to look like some sort of Federation Constituition or Enterprise-class ship. It actually had cool "torpedoes" but it didn't fire them off in the clip (it was using its phasers tho).

  • owned

    that space station kicked ass

Which ship type did u use?

  • the sphere with the ring around it?....that was no space station! that was a giant ship o' death!

I based it loosely off of "Unicron" from the 80s Transformers cartoon movie. HEHEHEH.

  • you mean you can build your ship from scratch? tell me more about it's unique features... is this as good as Alpha Centauri or much better? thanks!

  • yes you can build your own ships from scratch, kind of like Spore, but no limitations, and parts that actually do something

  • nice ship u have :D

  • thanks!
