what happens during low maneuvering flights is that the pilot may immediately spot an obstacle...he may either crash into the obstacle or in order to avoid the obstacle he may pull up at a low airspeed, thus stalling the plane and causing it to spiral down to the ground in a spin.
#3 is actually not entirely true: airline pilots have a very safe job and so do corporate jet pilots. bulk of pilots who die are low maneuvering pilots like crop duster, SAR helicopter, alaskan bush pilots who have 1/8 chance of dying due to flying in awful weather and very close to mountainous terrain.
if plane is flown at a normal altitude 5000 ft or higher in good weather in a well maintained plane, its actually safer than driving.
