  • Charlie Mike.....continue mission

    2/11 Vietnam 68-70

  • I'm assuming this is from the Confederate Cavalry's point of view?

  • God Bless the Cavalry. (from a Civil war reenactor)

    D.Adams

    6th Alabama Cavalry

    Confederate States of America

And God bless all American troops then, now, and forever.

  • can anyone tell me what historical event this is based off?

  • Schnel127- take your racist BS off the end of a steep, high cliff. A large portion of my platoon was not white, but black. Had it not been for the Buffalo Soldiers of the 9th and 10th Cavalry Regiments, this nation might not be in existence as it is currently. Biologically: we all have the same amount of melanin, but genetics determines what is shown at the surface. Dumb ass.

  • Salute to the RCMP officers gunned down in cold blood in Mayerthorpe, Alberta. We should never forget the sacrifice they made for justice.

  • @yioming I've lived right here in Mayerthorpe, it's a pretty small town, and I was pretty surprised when I heard Corb mention it in a song. (and when they were killed)

  • whos the fucking hippie that disliked

  • I'm in the cav 2/1 AD and everyone in my unit loves this song. First in last out! If you ain't cav you ain't ----

  • This is not an anti war song ..this is reality its all fun in the begining. But when you are in the mud and the blood your thought process seems to change.cav scouts lead the way.....out front....sir

  • @thatscoutguy

If this is not an anti-war song, then explain the album title: "Horse Soldier! Horse Soldier!"

Say it twice quickly, I think you'll get the joke.

  • @canuckflyboy why don't u just tell us

  • @kimchiman86 I really don't care what the title is or isn't. And I would take it back that this album is anti-war. However it is riddled with irony. Anyways I guess everyone can draw what they want from it. Have a good one.

  • @canuckflyboy what the hell are you talking about

  • @dwash56 I don't know if I'd call it "anti war" as such. But the album has two versions - the album starts with the more upbeat version, about a young man looking forward to the glories of battle; this version ends the album, with him looking back over the horrors he's been through and how empty that "glory" seems. To me it's not so much anti-war as it is anti-glorification of war.

  • @saxon1066 I would say you got the point to the album bang on. The problem is most people have not bought the album and listened to it.

  • is this an anti war song.

  • Definitely one of the best, and most underrated bands to come out of Canada.

  • All these were honored in their generations, and were the pride of their timesTheir bodies are buried in peace, but their name lives on generation after generation.

for Parson Brigade and Joesph Shelby's Iron Brigade. The Best of The Best

  • i'm not the only one who see's this as anti war right?

  • @lupa559 The normal song show's his pride in the cavalry. This song show's the sorrow and pain that horse soldiers have been through

  • well i love both versions.. I fought the frontier and I won... but was beaten down feel great passion in both versions.....great artist hows the country western scene bypassed him............He is f...in great

  • moreil woods

  • this one is better then the origanal by a long shot.

  • i love this song the forefathers part is my fav!

  • yay cavalry

  • do any of you know if Corb Lund wrote this song..or this particular version of this song???I love Corb Lund and understand he has amazing talent..but this song seems above his league.

  • @fidellah23 Yes, he wrote and performed it. The album "Horse Soldier! Horse Soldier!" opens with "I Wanna Be In The Cavalry" and closes with the reprise and taps.

  • @palladora thanks...I have been trying to figure that out for quite sometime...i guess I just don't give him the credit he deserves...i was accually going to ask the same for "student visas" but I think you answered that one. Thanks bud.

  • Corb is a fine singer and musician. READY FORWARD!

  • there is tough, then there is CAV tough! See yall at Fiddler's Green! HOOAHH

  • @littlebrowntexan Just empty your canteen,

  • @otetechie , The Rebel Line. Born American No Surrender No Retreat. The Long Gray Line Will Never Fail. Real Troopers Fight To The End. The Mexicans played.

El Degüello at The Alamo and the Texans Fought To The Last Man.

  • Doesn't anyone see the emotion and romance in this piece?

Yeah I'm a Canadian from Alberta and love to camp and fish and enjoy all the REAL COOL things my FOREFATHERS have provided. So SUCK IT UP and do your part. Thanx

  • @Tumbleweed5555 Yay another HURTIN' ALBERTAN XD

  • @Tumbleweed5555 Corbls lyrics- granted not all of them, and specially not The Smalls as much as Hurtin Albertans-are great. the wild west, Cowboys, Cavalry, the Praries of Alberta and Saskabush...a lot of the songs are about this...Not the fighting but the brotherhood, the pride in your self and country...Which he knows, and feels, as he has experienced it first hand living up on a ranch in southern Alberta...

  • @Tumbleweed5555 Sorry that should be Corb Lund'snot corbls.

  • Actually Corb Lund is from Canada. To top that all off he is from Edmonton Alberta where I live. I LOVE THIS GUY!!!

  • Garryowen. Remember the 7th on June 25th

  • Garryowen....the 7Th First.

  • the first to get fucked up... the 9th Cav on the other hand, now that's a real unit...

  • War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

    John Stuart Mill

  • WAR is ugly yes but love me THE WARRIOR for war is not by choice but someone elses voice

  • Perfect Song to hear after the first, really captures the enjoyment of going to war and then how it truly is.

  • oooooouuurrrraaaaa!!!!!!

    semper fi!!!!!!!!!

  • last time i checked the marines dont have cav. so ya youre dumb!

  • "art is a lie that makes you think of the truth" ---- Pablo Picasso . . . good god! This song simply states the fact that after all is said and done, there is no good war.

  • many bad things come from war but sometimes the good outweighs the bad the revolutionary war many brave men died so America could be free Texas fought a war to become free from Mexico the civil war the south stood up to what it percieved to be a corrupt government the died for the chance of freedom we are curently in a war to protect america from terrorism many bad things come from war but so do good things

  • Last I check Pardner the US Marine had the horse Marines in China. The were commanded by John Thaomason who wrote the Book Fixed Bayonets and others who's grandfather was a Confederate trooper.

  • Hua!

  • I love this song.

  • I hope we never met for your sake.

  • You have some mad issues.

But i respect your right to speak your mind. Good thing we have soldiers who are willing to keep the islamic world at bay so YOU have the freedom to do so.

When YOU die, many of US will be happy as well. Ignorance runs deep in those who claim to want peace but wont fight hate.

  • Stella, mate, see whan you say "I am joyed that one less soldier is left on this planet.. "

Do you mean you are happy that some poor mothers son is lying in the cold earth?

Don't condemn them, those men do what most cannot even imagine.

Lund's song is about fighting in a time when no man could hope for more tha to go home to his family, while his brothers died.

    peace!x

  • i said no such thing! it was a reply to KissMuseren's comment... we're on the same side with this issue.

  • *headdesk*

smart move on my part...eh? Sorry, man. Wrong name!

I did mean Kiss Museren, sorry. Please don't be ofended, I didn't mean to accuse you...I just read the wrong name.

    Really, really sorry.

  • @StellaArtois101 Fighting for peace is like fucking for virginity. They dont go hand in hand

  • @dwash56 Sometimes one must fight for peace. If your great grand father hadn't, you might have made your post in German, Japanese or Russian.

  • Comment removed

  • I pray to god youre not an american

  • @KissMuseren im going to denmark next month, you better pray to whatever god u believe in after saying this, you ignorant sheltered fuck

  • This is outstanding!

  • This song shows what soldiers have to go through every day of their lives and what they see by the time the war is over and the soldiers not knowing if they will make it back to see their families again and we are grateful that the soldiers are fighting for us and we should be happy

  • i really like the reprise, it makes me proud to be a soldier

  • Same here.

  • I almost think that I like the reprise better than the main song. It tears at the heartstrings of this Old Horse Soldier.
