This is bacl when the "big" bowls (Fiesta, Cotton, Rose, Orange, and Sugar) all featured classic matchups and were considered big time events. It was truly an honor to reach one of these bowls. Now, the Orange Bowl seems to have Wake Forest vs. Louisville every year. I haven't caught more than a minute of the past 3 or 4 Orange Bowls, and that's just sad.
Anyone, particularly Penn State fans, remember why NU wasn't #1 that year? The refs blew a call or two in a NU-PSU game at Beaver Stadium, and PSU won, so they won the NC despite same record. But, since Penn State deserved a share in 1994 and didn't get it, it all comes out in the wash.
I have a question. I know NBC started televising Notre Dame's home games in 1991. My question is prior to '91, did NBC televise regular season college football games?
@RonnieLott42USC nbc before at least 1991 when notre dame football was shown did more basketball games than football since football was on abc cbs espn tbs and raycom back in the day
That is very interesting how you bring both Don Criqui and Joe buck up. Joe Buck is the youngest to call a full slate of NFL TV games. Buck was 25 in 1994. I don't know when Don Criqui was born but I think he was 25 or 26 when he called a full slate of NFL TV games in 1967. When you hear Buck being the youngest to call a full slate, you never hear Criqui's name come up. Also, Criqui didn't have a famous name to lean back on when hired by CBS in '67.
Nebraska had a very good team, which was during the heyday of the Gill/Rozier/Fryer era. Their only loss was to eventual national champions Penn State in Happy Valley, which was marred by a very controversal call on Penn State`s game winning drive. LSU had a good team in `82, which was the only good season in the ill-fated Jerry Stovell era.

We got lucky at the first night game in Beaver Stadium :)
But your revenge came in the 1983 Kickoff Classic when Nebraska routed us 44-6 :(
1994 - media wanted to give Tom Osbourne a NC...PSU would have destroyed Nebraska

What the Hell does Keith Obermann know about Sports other than he has always been LEFT handed.
It was bad enough when we had Bryant GUMBALL in there.
Take away the primadonna's NBC and give us REAL substance

The only thing I didn't like about this game was that we didn't get another chance at Penn State at a bowl game.

Oh the 1982 touchdown, ha!

Don Criqui one of the best announcers of all time, and should have always stayed on top, I mean he is 5x the announcer that Joe Buck is.

Were either teams REALLY good?
The video shows the win/loss record, but how good were they really?

Interesting.
