I agree that this was one of the very best CDs ever. This song, I read, is a love song. I always hear it and feel like it is a sort of Zen or spiritual song about a higher power. In any case, the lyrics, the arrangement and her incredible multi-range voice hit it home for me. Brava, Diva! This should have been a single.
one of the best songs from Mistaken Identity. gives me goosebumps, the high vocals are incredible, no other artist is capable of changing her voice for the way she does to suit a song.
I'm glad that someone finally posted this song. A truly amazing song. From the same album, "Be My Fred Astaire" was also a nice experiment by Donna. Thanks!
I have never heard of this song. So, it is new to me. What album is it from? It sounds like early Donna, by the sound of her voice. Anymore information you can pass my way?
The vocals on Let There Be Peace are phenomenal. Donna didn't want to do this song because she didn't think it was "her," but Bruce, her husband, said, "yes, it is you... sing it" so she sang it and loved it, recorded it... and there you have it.
looking back at donnas career, whenever she strayed from her disco roots, and tried what ever the flavor of the moment was, in this case, "new jack swing" she failed miserably, there actually were some good songs, and good productions on this album, but the public wasnt buying it. just like the new album "crayons" aniticpation was high, but the final product was bland pop, alot of people were expecting a "cher" like comeback, sadly, the album is no longer on the charts.
Do you really think anyone expected a huge comeback? If they were going for a huge seller then they would have shot at least a video for her Big come-back single. your obsession with Cher is starting to sound pretty sad
of course everyone expected a huge comeback, this woman ruled the pop charts in the mid to late 70s, and the early 80s, she was the queen, countless gold/platinum singles albums to her credit. so YES, most people did expect a HUGE comeback. her last full album was 17 years ago. considering your comment, you probably werent born in the 70s, so you have no idea of which you post...you obviously dont get the "cher" reference...
Personally, I don't care that much for recordsalenumbers. For me it's just the music that counts. And I think that Crayons is one of her best albums, wether it's in the charts or not.
There are quite a few songs from this album that I really Love:-) but understand that it's not "everyone's cup of tea" as We say here in the UK. Thank you for sharing your opinion:-)It is always very welcome:-)
I have to say that I also Adore Disco/Dance Music::::: It's gives me so much Joy!!!:-D))) But this Amazing Woman and her "Friends" were able to introduce me to several other Styles of Music that later on I learnt to Appreciate and LOVE:-D)))
In my HUMBLE Opinion She is more than just "One" "Thing".... She can do it all and confuse so many with that ability:-)))
One of my favourite songs too! Beautiful melody and lyrics! This song is co-written by Bruce Woolley. He also co-wrote Slave To The Rythm for Grace Jones.
Thank you so much for your great comment on this song that I love:-))) I didn't know it was the same writer that did Slave to the Rythm By the Fabulous Grace Jones(Another song I love). Thank you for sharing this Information:-)))

Mistaken Identity had two of her best ballads, at least to that point. This and Heaven's Just a Whisper Away.
Truly a very underrated CD. It's my fave...well, it was until Crayons came out.
