Finally i saw this song in a Daria's episode remembering that fuckin cartoon!!!

  • @shark7107 similar story with me mate! had listened to this one a damn long time back... simply didn't know the artist. only found out recently :) and the feeling of rediscovery is amazing! :D awesome track!

  • @workingstif1 Please read the FAQ ~ you're wrong.

  • The video response is my NEW SINGLE. Hope you like it! :-)

  • @JyotiMishra what was the b side of this track cause it was rocking????

  • @killersharky67 There were three - it was on an EP.

  • @workingstif1 You're the chum retardo - did you see Jyoti - the WRITER and PERFORMER of the song agreed with my post? Feel like a douche lord now? Loser, get a life and stop making fool of yourself.

  • I never understood this, but when someone clicks dislike does that mean that they don't like the video or the song or both...so why look the song up and comment.

How many people have liked a song then seen the video and then disliked it?

How many people have like the video and the song grows on them for watching the video so much?

Personally the song is the reason for looking up the video, especially from someone who listens to the radio a lot

    just saying

  • @chunk1724 Anything that gets likes will get dislikes, I think that's just the net. People *will* take the time to go and dislike something. Me, I never search something out to vote it down, life's waaaay too short! :-)

  • @JyotiMishra I totally agree life is too short, and for me every song has a memory.

This one is nursing a sick child (one of my kids) and finally getting him to sleep with your song playing on my local radio station, always loved it always will.

And my son even rememberers that day and he was only 2 at the time, you know how to write them

  • @chunk1724 Awww, that's very sweet! What a great story! :-)

  • good, nice, music...

  • 129 people can't recognize a good song when they hear it.

  • @brendonwife lols

  • Great song !

I still remember the days when this was new.

The part when it starts "Well I guess what you say is true..." always reminded me of Iggy Pop song "I wanna be your dog".

Nevertheless I still love this song.

  • @Labyrinthman I hadn't thought of that! I see what you mean! :-)

  • @lannabananah ... Ditto! unbelievable power of the internet and YouTube!

  • I SO love this song....Yes, I too remembered it from way back but never knew who sang it or what it was called. I even googled the actress Chloe Treend, she has a cool website.

  • my dad used to listen to this, i heard him play this all the time :) good that he passed this masterpiece onto me :D

  • @Zestava +1 for your Dad! :-)

  • I HEARD THIS BEAT ON WILEYS TRACK, SICK STILL!

  • Hey Jyoti, love the song, but was just wondering if you're familiar with the musician John Maus? He's also not shy about coming forward about his music as it stands with relation to theoreticians such as Badiou and Deleuze. I was chatting to him recently in the Netherlands and then your song came on in the airport store I was in and the connection seemed to make a lot of sense to me then.

  • @sevendaughters Hey, I wasn't but I am now - just watched 'The Believer' via your page. He's way more arty than me (reminds me more of Scritti Politti) but I do see where you're coming from. Thank you very much for the comment, I love finding out about new, interesting music! :-)

  • I really love this tune.. i first listened it on VH1 couple of days ago..

  • Fiatalságkorom legszebb emlékeinek egyike!!! De jó ez a zene!

  • Amazing tune.

  • Please, please, please someone with talent make a filthy dubstep remix and msg me when it's complete!

  • I love this song. Fantastic video. Yes the sexual ambiguity of it was what caught me when I first heard it years ago.

  • @rfianbb Thank you!

  • You seem to have read your Kierkergaard :)

  • Great song showing off the greatness of derby in the video

  • why there are fucking russian here again hahahah

  • γιο γιο βούλωσαααααααααα

  • damn, YEARS without listening to this

    i love it

  • Фантастика! Обалденная песня!!!

  • @zenitrodnoy Спасибо, это очень мило из вас!

  • Where are they now?

  • Derby was a nice place in the 90's!

  • I've been searching for this song for years!! It's amazing!

  • First song made on a home PC to reach No.1 in the UK chart I believe.

  • This is called a good tune. And if music is the universal language, not English, then I really think it suffices.

  • who did u used to like more the leather coat girl or the wife

  • tellement de souvenirs autour de cette musique...

  • LOS 90'S LA ULTIMA DECADA DORADA!!!

CUANDO TODAVIA SE HACIAN BUENOS CLIPS MUSICALES Y BUENA MUSICA I MISS THE 90'S

  • I heard a song whit the beggining of this song but hiphop style, how it calls? and its not Wiley who can answer me ?

  • Theres a man singing, but hes singing that he can never be your woman?

    Wtf? Is he a tranvestite?

I dont understand the song very much, but i like it.

  • @AlexZandero He explains it in his page, but anyway:) It can be about a man who's in love with a straight man-that's why he can't be his "woman". Or, it might be about a straight man falling in love with a lesbian girl-he can't be her woman either. But anyway, singers can sing about things not relating to themselves.

  • @AlexZandero Probably wears a sari in the privacy of his bedroom!

  • most elevated 90s song ever

  • Can't you cancel your Vevos?:))

  • We would like more from your genious, one of my favourite all timers!

  • Este video es como un homenaje a Chaplin y Buñuel, que no? Tiene escenas idénticas a "Un perro andaluz" de Luis Buñuel. Sí me gustó.

  • @MrSrbato It was more influenced by German Expressionism, I remember talking with the director, Mark Adcock about Caligari, Nosferatu etc. Also, we were both fans of Andrea Dworkin, Julia Kristeva and other theorists. From my side, the song is pure Wilhelm Reich. I've been ripping him off for decades. :-)

  • Weird video but I love the music.

  • Wow, like Charles Chaplin but with a lesson, allright girl.

  • Does anyone know what name of another singer who sings this song?? its the same song but young guy is singing?

  • Released before 14 years and one month!!!

  • Thank you Jyoti this is just brilliant. I have always loved this song

  • i was the same. remembered it from when it came out but been trying to find out what it was for years after and heard it for the first time today in years and finally found out what it was. Mystery solved

  • 13 years i've hummed this tune, 'specially the chorus, not knowing the name of it, or any way of finding out! How does one search YouTube for that?!!! Finally fluked it tho, thanks heaps for this post!

  • @hearnstr

LMFAO!!!!! everythink u wrote aplies to me too!!!!!!!!!!

  • @hearnstr I had this exact same situation lol! i ended up remembering the year and googling number ones in 1996-1997. Took me so damn long !

  • @hearnstr

    Me too!!!! I'm so happy!

  • i love this song .. there's something power and mysterious abt it .. <3

  • yay ive been looking for this song for ages but forgot the name and lyrics, what a song!!

  • I'm from Derby, so this video is really exciting!!!

    Oooh look, the ram!!

  • Fantastic song.

  • Wiley sampled this

    its NOT HIP-HIP

    IT FUCKING GRIME

  • this song makes Star Wars cool

  • anyone know the hiphop song that samples this????

  • @Classick604 If it's recent UK hip hop, it's Wiley.

  • @Classick604 Wiley - Never Be Your Woman

  • @Classick604 try Wiley feat. Emeli Sande

    never be your woman

  • @Classick604 Think the trumpet part is by Nat Gonella.

  • @Classick604 Don't think it was hiphop. Al Bowley trumpet from 1940s was sampled in the track. Good stuff

  • filmed in my hometown Derby.

  • thanks to MARK & LARD!

  • ok so the intro sample is from Nat Gonella, but what is the song called? anyone know? :)

  • This song reminds me of whene I wa dating my husband...so many memories from hi-school.

  • it made joining natwest bank as a student worth it ;-)

  • You are my god!!!

  • Hello Jyoti,

Firstly this one of my favorite songs. It is one of those songs that transports me somewhere else the second I hear it. Well done!

I was wondering if you could remember the names of the actors from the video? Do you know who directed it?

  • such a good song :)

  • singer sounds a bit like Paul Draper from Mansun...

  • cool tune :)

  • try wiley ft emily sande never be your woman 2009 version?

  • Does anyone knows whats the name of another singer singing this song??? video is with the guy on the beach ...

  • I always loved the ambiguity and androgynous nature of this song, it's part of the mysterious attraction to it... I am sure the artist intended this, I love it... and that it speaks to my own experiences! I swear he is reading my old diary...

  • @hazelnutchoc9 Yep, the ambiguity was very, very deliberate! :-)

  • @JyotiMishra ...as was your repetition of the adjective.

    ;o)

  • this is my ringtone:)

  • lovely song, one of my fav of that time,by the way i like cut out my heart alot too, keep up the good stuff

  • It's just me or is this remix of starwars empire theme called ,,The Empire March"

  • @Nosdrag He explains in the FAQ that it's not. I think this is older than Star Wars

  • @AdderSIG 1977?:-)

  • I've still got the cd single of this. Time flies.

  • Amazing song man. Loved it then love it now. One question I didn't see in the faq's, are you still a marxist?

  • Is it just me or could this song be remade into an awesome party song?

  • "-How do you feel about being a one-hit wonder?

-Better than being a no-hit wonder!"

    Just brilliant.

Nice song, nice new album. Keep this way!

  • Cheers for the upload man. I loved this song when I was growing up, after reading your frequently asked questions I'm even more impressed with the song and your outlook on life. Keep fighting the good fight!

  • @TehCheese Oh, it's a lifetime thing for me. Been a musician since I was 12, not going to stop any time soon. Speaking of which...

... the new album is sounding pretty damn good! :-D

  • @JyotiMishra Cool, I look forward to hearing it. Let me know where and when I can get it!

  • @JyotiMishra Hey your song was my obsession from 1997-2006, i would listen to it for hourz each and every day (seriously). it got so bad that i could hear the song when i was'nt listening to it. I'll never forget this song itz my all time no1 thank you so much your awesome

  • Great song and helpful website link, thank you. Like any good artistic work, it is never completely clear and straightforward. But one of the undercurrents of this song is something that Alyssa Milano mentioned after seeing all of the "one to many" relationships of animals in the wild: "Monogamy is not natural, but it is a gift you can give to someone."

  • @RainbowCatcher Lovely points, well made!

  • Finally I find the name and artist for this song!

  • Awsome song. Favorited and liked!

  • @jules7890 LMAO

  • i miss the 90s

  • In about 1990 a friend gave me a cassette recording of a 4 track EP from the days when White Town were a four piece with a guy called Sean playing bass I think it was.... Don't suppose for a moment it still exists anywhere?...also don't suppose there's any chance of Jyoti uploading it?

  • doesn't white town sound likes a racist town?

  • .. the singer sounds like 2D from gorillaz :D

  • @Me00irule no, 2D from the gorillaz sounds like this singer.
