dont plug that in the wall unless you add a few diodes! I would either do away with the internal power supply or use diodes the battery power is flowing backwards into the power supply in the unit.. if you touch the prongs of the cord while you connect power you will get a shock as the power is connected to the battery.. Warning this can cause the internal ps to get hot and short. Used diodes or omit the internals

@lylypiano hacking/modding is still altering the oem product, dont they have 7" lcd tv portables with ntsc, now, this is for atsc tv's, now a days we use ntsc in america.

this is great for my in-dash dvd w/o a tuner

might be just easier to cut the orignal plug and connect straight to 12v source

This is not really a hack. You don't have to go through all of that trouble, just to make it run off the grid. You can get an adapter, and a car battery and hook it up too, for power. Or if you want to run off the car lighter you can just run it off of the adapter. Goofy.

Manufactures need to build in the converter into the small tv. Lugging the converter box around with the little old tv is not worth the trouble.

I wish that these manufacturers would make battery operated converter boxes that takes AA batteries and it's the same size as a small RF modulator. Also the antenna that came with my digital TV is not strong enough, so I wish they would come out with portable amplified TV antenna that you plug on the side of the portable digital TV.

Most electronics nowadays don't have their power supply on a separate PCB, this makes for an easy hack. Wish I would have seen this sooner, would've saved having to buy my dad an inverter for the TV in his truck just for the converter box.

@BoringReviews It's called a transformer dude. Like a big resister. It reduces the amount of power getting through, and also converts it from AC to DC. Like the DC to AC convertors you get for a car, but in reverse. Although I probably would just use one of them for something using this little power while on the road. Less stuffing around. LOL
