I remember new years 1999. was asked to go to Kaikoura but had committed to spending new years with another mate at Hagley Park Christchurch. Kind of boring with Dave Dobbyn the main gig to midnight. We ended up walking to Brighton Pier afterward and I fell asleep in the pub and got kicked out. Should have gone to Kaikoura.
This century turned out to be a pile of shit. All the hype about the 21st brining peace to all, no hunger, no famine, everyone living well into their 100's with no stress what so ever. What a load of cods walop. The complete opposite to all of this has transpired in the last 10 and a 1/2 years. Bloody future tellers...
Interesting that John Campbell was reading on New Years Eve normally the key presenters are on holiday for a month from Christmas until late January, guess being a new millenium more people were expected to watch the news at that time.
