I live in florida and noticed this the other day. Jan 1 2012 10 am sky was clear blue temp was 91 at the beach i noticed the trails in the sky just offshore and as time went on i noticed them dispersing into larger trails which where moving inland by 1pm the sky was covered with the trails and it began creating a haze over the sky by 3 pm, the temp was 85 low wind low humidity sky was completely covered with a fog like haze odd because there was low moisture cold front arrived the next day

my dad is a pilot and sometimes, depending on where you are in the sky, because there are many different parts of the sky that have different temperatures, and wind currents. sometimes the trails are really high in the sky where it automatically freezes it and the hot air keeps it afloat, stuff like that. that being said, i am not decided on this.

Airliners are under 'flight separation rules" which means that planes in a similar area must be a minimum of 1000ft difference in altitude. That's a bigger minimum difference than the height of the seattle needle.
Go look up the meaning of "lapse rate".
Variations in altitude mean contrail forming conditions are inevitably different.

You are referring to water ballast tanks that ALL airliners have when they are being certified, BEFORE they are allowed to carry passengers. They must be able to demonstrate that they can carry the WEIGHT of a load of passengers so beer kegs full of water are used. That allows the centre of gravity to be shifted for testing too.

As far as this comment page, I read every post, and I've decided to go with the non chem trailers. Their arguments seem very sound, they throw out a lot of math, and have much, MUCH better grammar, sentence structure, and spelling than the conspiracy people. Double negatives? Come on, now.

my dad is a pilot and sometimes, depending on where you are in the sky, because there are many different parts of the sky that have different temperatures, and wind currents. sometimes the trails are really high in the sky where it automatically freezes it and the hot air keeps it afloat, stuff like that. that being said, i am not decided on this.

It is humidity and temperature of the region of sky a plane is flying in that determines contrail formation, not the plane, otherwise they would occur on take off. Conditions of humidity and temp in the sky vary by location, by hour and by day. It's weather

It's like being confused that the track on the ground left by a trail bike is different all the time. Sometimes there is no track, sometimes there are deep ruts, sometimes there is a cloud of dust. The tracks often criss cross with other bikes. But the bike isn't doing anything different.

The vast majority of water in a contrail was already in the sky. Only a tiny percentage is supplied by the plane. That is why they require high relative humidity to form, and temperatures BELOW -42C For contrails to persist or spread the RH is higher than 100%.. in the region of sky they are in.
Since a persistent trail forms in air with RH of 100%+ that means the ice can't "just evaporate or dissipate" , It can only persist or grow bigger

No, the planes are not allowed to be at the same height.
Airliners are under 'flight separation rules" which means that planes in a similar area must be a minimum of 1000ft difference in altitude. That's a bigger minimum difference than the height of the seattle needle.
Go look up the meaning of "lapse rate".
Variations in altitude mean contrail forming conditions are inevitably different.
Look up "aerodynamic contrail"

Sometimes I even see a trail, then there is a gap and then the trail starts again.

You are referring to water ballast tanks that ALL airliners have when they are being certified, BEFORE they are allowed to carry passengers. They must be able to demonstrate that they can carry the WEIGHT of a load of passengers so beer kegs full of water are used. That allows the centre of gravity to be shifted for testing too.

Are you seriously trying to say that water cannot be visible in the sky for longer than 10 minutes?
I hate to break your delusion, but there are these things in the sky made out of the exact same substance as contrails and they can last for hours.
You might have heard of them.
They are called "CLOUDS"
A contrail is a type of cloud made of ice crystals.
A cirrus cloud is a type of cloud made of ice crystals.
They are identical in composition.

Contrails are WATER. that is why they are called CONDENSATION trails.
The kerosine goes into the engines, is combusted with oxygen from the air and CO2 and H20 result.
2 C10H22 + 31 O2 ->20 CO2 + 22 H20
Every ton of kerosene fuel makes 1.3 tons of water in the exhaust.
