Actually she is very smart! the explanation is very simple. Your cat has intestinal worms. Your cat knows /feels that Valerian helps destroys them (even the Valerian oil that penetrates from her skin does have some result)

More or less all dogs , mouses and cats do eat or rub on Valerian...yours just overreacts !!!

What's you smoking? Valerian is a stimulant, i.e. mild narcotic. So cat actually gets drugged. It has nothing to do with worms or parasites.
