  • I need help woth a PSA. Im doing the Houston City of the Future 2050 and I need to make a PSA on how the energy will be like in 2050 and how houstonians will use it?? PLEASE HELP!! Thanks

  • The USA was made in 1776, formed by the British Empire, offering free land for anyone not "making it" in their country. People came over and all have died for our freedom. With usury and the lending and borrowing of money, for interest on the "free" market. We all sleep, no one should get paid for their time sleeping , no one should pay for their time to sleep either.

  • Great quote, what about the injuns?

  • "Is it only terrorists that we're worried about? Is that the only threat that is worth our attention?". "We are witnessing a collision between our civilization and the Earth." San Francisco Chronicle.

  • Al Gore quote.

  • "If we allow this to happen, it is deeply ethically immoral in every way."

He showed photos of rapidly melting glaciers in Antarctica and said that if half of Greenland and half of west Antarctica melted away, it would have a devastating effect on rising sea levels. Parts of Florida would be covered in water, he said. New Orleans would be virtually nonexistent and the future World Trade Center memorial in New York would be under water.

  • A G again.

  • "There are a lot of people, some in less responsible oil and utility companies, who say, 'Hey, what's the big deal,' " Gore said.

  • To live green or not to live, is that the question?

  • Oh, the south pole is getting colder by the way (so I've been told), so perhaps switching the term 'climate change' for 'global warming' is probably more accurate. Think the planet is behaving a bit like it's got a flu virus, temperature and runny nose at the top, cold feet at the bottom!

  • With renewables, individuals can act. Accountant mate is part of Europe's biggest insurance co, who've taken a big dent from weather claims. He's sceptical on Al Gore's stance, as mainly political; cites natural changes in sun activity as equally plausible. From an Architects perspective (mine), buildings & energy are just beyond Neolithic; makes creative & ideological sense to improve them (they'll be better to live in); if I've managed to avoid problems with the climate that's a bonus.

  • Could someone please help educate me on this issue?

    TA,

    Man

  • Describing how to fix Global Warming and Global Dimming is the issue now. There is one fix, that society demands from corporations alternative energy, and choose to pay the costs for it to become cheaper over the years. Or we will wait until peak oil eventually hits, if it does, people will demand alternative energy since oil prices will be too high. Once demand is set, businesses supply.

  • People in society are in corporations; economics is generated by individuals. The cost of extreme flooding 20 miles from me in Gloucester may not be insured in the future, storms flipped my son's trampoline onto my car, cost my insurance 4K - makes economic sense to reduce this. My heat pump cost about 6K, I got a 1.5K grant from NPower (a corporation). Funding a wind turbine now, either myself or perhaps with a grant assisting. No prevarication, as the Nike corporation say - Just do it.

  • Corporations are by law, a real legal entity that does have to provide profits. I am starting a corporation without direct shareholder interest, it is through the government grants and reimbursement. It takes time but worth it because I do not pay shareholder dividends, profits will go back to the community. Oil companies spend profits looking for more oil. We need longer response space lol !

  • By law a company needs to provide profits, eh? The west tend to think that's a given. Margeret Thatcher pushed this as PM in the UK; you'll know about the Gorden Gecko & 'greed is good' ethos I'm sure? Free market economy did prove to be a better motivater than the eastern block ideology, the rise of other 'oil' powers is now where we're at.

  • A paper, beer, or oil company needs more money then one person can save and associated risk is too high. Shareholders only invest in companies that prove they are making profit, and if the CEO, or CFO spend money on issues other then making money the shareholders vote out the CEO or CFO, and pay them large amounts of money and get them to sign forms of confidentiality.

I agree with you Toby, on every level. I believe that humans characteristics resemble a parasite.

  • A parasites methodollogy could be respected, they're pretty honest! All very gothic, the human race has prospered through reason, action and brotherhood. For every dramattic icon there were many others who acted quietly. We can find answers and always have, a catastrophy or two helps focus the mind.

  • All the clean renewable energy we will ever need and I don't mean nuclear. See it at WWW.SWELLFUEL.COM

  • HEY Under the Puget Sound and the Strait of Georgia there is enough coal to keep the world in energy for about 200 years. Colorada has Trillions of barrels of SHALE OIL waiting to be extracted. Canada and Venezuela have thick tar sands also waiting. Ultimately we will use GEOTHERMAL energy from power stations deep underground. Nuclear is too deadly and expensive.
