SOPA only has bad points. I am with Anonymous, and you can join too. Too join, you just have to agree with Anonymous which has already been done if you want to join. @llamabrat07 Copyrights started out because people like Thomas Edison stole other people's work, copied it and sold it and got rich by it. If an individual 'pirates' a movie, watch it, decide it wasn't worth paying for, and then delete it, it's not even close to the same thing. Many people pirate stuff because the entertainment business are living in the past. It needs to be cheaper and much faster. Steam and Spotify is a step in the right direction but it sure is taking them long.

@adithyakiran16 Yeah it won't stop piracy - but it will decrease security (and that's always something, isn't it?) - and make the entire system more corrupt. Especially the old people (that are inexperienced with computers) won't be able to figure out what they can do wrong when you need tons of plugins to go redirect you to "banned" sites. Phishing will most likely become even more common than it is today.
@adithyakiran16 Yeah well, I would imagine the "techie types" would create DNS plugins that routed you to the domain names. The problem is, the security would then lie on the plugin-creators. They could easily start using phishing. Anyway, SOPA didn't go through. And if people will do as great against PIPA as they did against SOPA, it'll probably also go down. We'll probably wait a few more years before Hollywood tries to get something a bit less obvious through.
Nothing needs to change except the quality of the product being supplied by the artists. Its your job to insure your product is getting distributed correctly. Some people will NOT buy your stuff for whatever reason, but will download it. They will then share it with their friends, who may never have stumbled upon your band, for example, except via the recommendation of that friend who did not buy your album. Repeat the process multiple times with different people, and you got an example of the artist getting the same money and also their art reaching an audience twice as big.
You know what? Just stop buying anything from major corporations. Support indie musicians, film makers and video game creators. If a creator sells something direct from their own website--buy it there.
There's some really great content out there from people that care about their audience. Support them.

@adithyakiran16 Yeah it won't stop piracy - but it will decrease security (and that's always something, isn't it?) - and make the entire system more corrupt. Especially the old people (that are inexperienced with computers) won't be able to figure out what they can do wrong when you need tons of plugins to go redirect you to "banned" sites. Phishing will most likely become even more common than it is today.

@adithyakiran16 Yeah well, I would imagine the "techie types" would create DNS plugins that routed you to the domain names. The problem is, the security would then lie on the plugin-creators. They could easily start using phishing. Anyway, SOPA didn't go through. And if people will do as great against PIPA as they did against SOPA, it'll probably also go down. We'll probably wait a few more years before Hollywood tries to get something a bit less obvious through.

Nothing needs to change except the quality of the product being supplied by the artists. Its your job to insure your product is getting distributed correctly. Also, that is extremely hypocritical, seeing as its the top tier artists who get pirated more than anyone else, in fact, its the internet that helps new artists get their work out and recognized. So dont complain about the double-edge sword.
Nothing left to address in the SOPA issue. Why? Because SOPA promotes Censorship!...

@BboySmokey and censorship is meant to be the mortal enemies of artists. This is one step forward in the direction of overall censorship, where the government will be able to tell you, the artists, what you can and cannot create. You think the government would be the defender of hollywood? No, they'd turn on you the second it works in their favour.
The Distribution process needs to change, to compete with piraters and to provide better products than what they can. Censorship is not the way!

I disagree with you on the free downloading of media. I am in favor of it.
Some people will NOT buy your stuff for whatever reason, but will download it. They will then share it with their friends, who may never have stumbled upon your band, for example, except via the recommendation of that friend who did not buy your album. Repeat the process multiple times with different people, and you got an example of the artist getting the same money and also their art reaching an audience twice as big.

There's some really great content out there from people that care about their audience. Support them.

I believe the internet should be considered a land all its own, exempt from the rules and regulations made by foreign powers.
I ,therefore, believe that any bill or decree dealing with the internet should be handled by the users of the internet (the "populace" if you will, as a whole, without regard to nationality).
As it stands, all big corporations and governments will make attempts at restricting what they see as just another source of advertising and revenue if they're able.

Record companies, music artists, movie studios, actors, actress and above all the RIAA can all go fuck themselves. I'm supposed to feel bad for you because of online piracy? How about you stop charging us absurd prices for mediocre content? How about you get with the times and start using digital distribution? Stop complaining if you're a part of the problem. Make things affordable and worth buying and people will be less likely or inclined to want to 'steal'.

Go after the real criminals. leave the working man alone things have changes so much in the US sonce 1960 that im afraid to have children to many laws and rules. Obama right now is being Sued for the signing of the NDAA , if PIPA goes thru and he signs it he will possibly have more lawsuits.people are starting to wake up and see the damage. Our government is 15 trillion dollars in debt right now and climbing. The dollar is devalued so much that people better get of the money high that they have 1 dollar is worth like 30 cents in real time...their are alot of issues on the table right now problem is too much money at the top and not enough at the bottom.

Moral of the story , you have to have laws to protect people property , but it should turn into a way to make money off of people which is what laws do..Place like Youtube where i can go see a vid or here a son that has never been released should be left alone. So just like driving under the influence , back then you could drive around with beer in you back seat no problem. But just like that law people take advantage of it and kill people and thats when the law intensifies - people take advantage of it. So as for media the digital age is realativley new and exciting - people take advantage of it and mess it up for the rest of the people and its the little people that get hit the most because laws = capitol gains.

What the heck happend ? seems to me people are getting more agressive because the dollar is deflated in ways. what ever it is its just weird ? Back to the root , I remember record albums use to cost 5 dollars in the 70s , movie video tapes 80 dollars 250 lines resolution , Laser Discs 30 to 50 = 500 lines of resolution. today you can buy a DVD for 8 dollars a cd for 8 dollars, so its the best it has ever been people. end of 2

When i was growing UP , people werer more respectfull- ehh you buy an album and make a few copys for a friends on 8 tracks....But never did i once ever think about selling them. We allways traded albums , we werer into music. Heck the great full dead used to allow people to record their stuff. IN CA i used to go to Day on the green and see 15 bands for 25 dollars in the eightys. in the 90s van halen 35 dollars , but the past year concert tickets 100 to 1500 no sheet. end part 1

wat the entertainment industry needs to do is to help onlin music pirats turn there web sights in to proper licenced web sights by making coppy right licences easer and cheaper to get so that the entertainment industerys can still get money but all so the web sight that sell the licenced music gets money all so the artists wont get fucked over by the royalties cos they would get something out of it to.
