  • @jacob5357 Look at the stock specs for any year and compare the cummins and duramax. The duramax always had more HP and torque than cummins. Line up the trucks and race. if your buddy knows how to drive that duramax with 900hp he will rape the fuck outta that cummins with a programmer. even stock the duramax would rape a stock cummins

  • yamaraptor05 I agree with you a 100% my truck has been falling apart since 35,000 miles and i can't seem to keep it together I take great care of it but nope it still craps out. The Powerstroke and Cummins are the #1 diesels. I was a strong believer of the duramax till I got one arispe04 just needs to find out on his own thats all.

  • my LMM has been giving me problems for awhile it gets serviced every 3000miles look I don't take my truck off road unless im hunting I bought this truck to tow my camp trailer and my boat I regret getting this truck now after having all these problems and finding out that many others have these issues. the cummins and powerstroke I think have the leading edge in reliabilty and power 360hp and 660tq I think is BS when I have under powered trucks passing me.

  • you must be a kid look I have been around for awhile had chevy's most my life went for a diesel and got a duramax. I have had problems with it ever since I know other people with the same thing saying chevy's never break is far from true everything breaks no matter what it is but saying ford and dodge are worthless is just wrong.   • im 24 been workin in the oilfield since i was 15, i know how trucks are worked,.. when u have hot shotters tradin in there dodge diesels for a duramax, and when u see fords down and u have to save em so they can keep their jobs, and when its a dmax doing all that, yeah ill stick with my dmax, get ur self a dodge or ford, ill see seein u,haha headgaskets goin bad with 35000 miles, u damn liar... no way. thats unheard of,, its like seein a ford outperform a chevy on anything.. it aint gonna happen

  • kid i have been around longer then you I like chevy/gmc but from what I have found out is the duramax can't perform the way a powerstroke or a cummins can. my truck looks nice but can't run without a problem. when I first bought my truck I liked it but with all the things that have gone on with it I can't wait to sell it. I have been out performed but the 5.9 cummins and 6.0 powerstroke both less hp and tq then me.

  • @crardon Do you go to truck pulls? Really, Duramax and Cummins blow the doors off Strokers, and I used to be a die hard ford guy.

  • @crardon you got a lemon duramax then bud. we got two on the farm now. a 03 2500HD with 230,000 and a 3500 with 496,000 and have never had a problem. never lost a race to any other diesel.

  • The only thing that can be said cause im guessing your papa or grandad must have been die hard chevy owners which is fine but chevy doesn't build the duramax and I think thats the problem all i can say is over time you will understand and saying you can't blow a head gasket under 35,000 isn't true nothings perfect not even chevy your only 24 you have a lot of time left to figure things out on your own when i was your age I didn;t like people telling me things I didn't want to hear good luck 2 u

  • @crardon looks like u got a lemon truck then man. the lmm out performs the cummins and powerstroke out of the box. strokers pull good but get crappy mpgs, cummins are neck and neck with dmax for mpgs and towing performance but the gm trucks are nicer overall and you cant beat the allison trans lol

  • i have already passed that in my powerstroke no probs im at now just a little over 315k. I do the normal fluids and filter changes and thats it i have had the ball joints replaced 1 time but any heavy duty truck needs that done but thats it a truck is a truck there not meant to look pretty all the time my truck is muddy and dirty because it gets the job done not just driving up and down the streets like the duramax is good for

  • sorry man i dont just drive my truck up and down the streets... my truck has seen more back roads that paved streets, maybe ur truck has more than 315k mine is an 08 with 62k im workin on it. and u said the allison was not all that great, man i know ur just hating on chevy just cause u drive a ford, if u had an allison in ur ford, u would comment how good the tranny is..hate on chevy all u want, doesnt bother me, im replylin to u just so u know the facts man not just what u hear at the mud hole

  • im saying the allison isn't the greatest tranny out there. Alisson makes a decent tranny when you running just stock there a decent tranny but by far the greatest.

  • this duramax has 360hp and 660tq "more power then the rest" but i get passed climbing the hills around here towing my 25ft camper trailer that weighs around 3500lb by fords and dodges towing bigger loads then me. I was a believer of the duramax but now im starting to see different a friend of mine who to owns one is starting to have problems and hes at 95-96k I wouldn't say there the greatest.

  • well if you have the facts then you would know the lmm dmax does not have more power and torque and you would also know that its not called the scorpion its the in house built powerstroke. My screen isn't about a car. my 7.3l is 9 years old with 315,000 miles on it now never had a problem and haven't seen a dmax out last it. It was stock for a long time till I went out and bought myself a chip when fuel prices were through the roof and before the chip i never had a prob passing dmax's

  • the dmax can't pull for shit they may do ok when there just being used as a daily driver but when it comes to towing "the purpose of a diesel" it lags and its slow i pass them all the time going over the mountain passes pulling my toy hauler or my horse trailer. face it the dmax is good empty but towing lag lag lag your just a chevy fan boy did your daddy tell you there the best.

  • the only chevy worth driving is an old chevy they were actually built to last except the motors need to be rebuilt about every 50,000 miles my grandpa drove a chevy along with my father I drive a ford because its built tough look at the frame on your chevy its tiny where as the frame on my ford is built big. the allison is all that great not bad but not that great i just think the dmax is a joke it shows good power specs but its weak when you tow something only cummins and powerstroke can tow

  • nope no outcast of members of my family drives ford or dodge chevy dmax never make it past 150k unless there lucky the only thing that chevy did good putting out was the old trucks the new stuff is crap when I bought my diesel I needed a truck the could tow whatever i wanted not go super fast or i would have bought a muscle car ford has the highest payload in its class sometimes i will see somebody thats modded there chevy and it looks nice but reliabilty isn't that great.

  • you wasted 62 grand on a duramax? I bought mine for 45,000 and the thing took a shit on me at 35,000 miles blew a head gasket just pulling my 25ft camp trailer. I am now at 86,347 miles and had to get new injectors, blew the other head gasket, fuel pump, the alternator, and now my waste gate on my turbo is getting stuck and there still is a few more things. i payed 45,000 and now im into it almost another 9,000 the IFS is a joke.

  • Sounds like you got a lemon my brotha. There are problems with them all, but most people seem to be happy with the duramax engine. For 2010 they are supposed to be the class leading HP/TQ.. Someone told me even more than fords new 400hp 700ftq scorpion diesel or w.e.. And dodge... Well dodge just blows. Cummins is good but the truck is junk.

  • cracked head possibly dude. the white smoke is probably steam which is seeping into the cylinder from the hot coolant flowing through the head. and the running rough and blowby is because of the crack in the head. it's seeping compression causing it to miss and the white smoke is actually steam seeping through the crack of the head and into the cylinder and escaping out the exhaust through the exhaust stroke is my guess.
