  • Is this a medium or a fine nib???

  • @autumnofmyheart This was probably a medium or broad nib that was ground into a crisp italic. It give is a slight calligraphy type look to the writing.

  • awesome. thanks for making this vid. I was planning to buy a Carene fountain pen but was concerned about how big and heavy the barrel might be. Turned out, it is not so big after all

  • "Now is the time for good little boys..." (cuts off sensing what he was about to write next) LOL :)

What ink is that? It looks very wet

  • @krazYFaic Probably Waterman Blue-Black. Hard to say though. I have a large variety of inks.

  • why does that pen have such a big price

  • are these those flex fountain pens?

  • i have a black cross aventura, MAN they cost alot! i have a nib with one line and a circle in the middle what is it called

  • @gelman912 I bought one for 150, you can prolly get one for 125 over ebay

  • Nice video, writing poems with fountain pens such as these are a joy, definatly worth trying.

  • i have a small waterman from the 1940's cost 353.49$ new back then, wonder how much nowadays

  • prolly a copule thousand

  • I have a Perspective fountain pen of Waterman.

I'd buy a Carene FP if I had more money.

    It looks like something attractive.

    sophisticated design!!!!!!

  • Hi, with the Carène, was that with a fine or medium nib? It looked too thick for me. I prefer fine so that I can use it for calculations and small writing. I love its shape, but I heard fine nib tends to be a wider than other fine nibs. Am I wrong? Was thinking about buying a FP but not too sure. I like the idea of puttting Pilot g-2 refills into a rollerball. Haven't tried that yet or I go into FPs. I'm trying to get "hooked" on FPs but I want them to be practical, fade proof etc. Help!

  • Noodler's ink has bulletproof versions to that it cannot be washed out.

  • which model pelikan is that above your writing pad? been trying to decide between the 400 and 800 souveran, whether the price difference is worth it or not for the 800.

  • why were you writing about "good little boys"

  • I think I probably was getting my quotes mixed up. Some "Now is the time" quote and "Good little boys and girls" Christmas type of quote. - Mark

  • look at youtube ' good little boys'

  • how much does such a waterman pen cost, and thnx

  • A Waterman Carene can be purchased on the street for around $100. Retail price is probably around $175 or up depending on the model.

  • How cum ur not writing in cursive?

  • I prefer block lettering. Probably a throwback to my architecture classes from the past. :)

  • Thanks for sharing that Mark! Nice.

  • kidna new to fountain pens. is the waterman phileas fountain pen a good start? not to expensive, looks nice and at a fair price. (like 30 or24 dollars)

  • It's okay. If you are looking to spend less than $25 I'd also take a look at the Lamy Safari.

  • hey man. i found a new waterman phileas fountain on ebay. its actually a writing set, the pen is 25 bucks but for 5 bucks more theirs a set (bascialyl just extra inks and abottle) the seller told me its 1-2 years old. is that bad for the fountain pen? and should i go for it? thanks man

  • I know the set you are talking about. Is it new in the box and the sell has just had it lying around for 1 or 2 years? If it's new then that would probably be a good deal. It would probably be more fun as well if you can change out the nib section.

  • well the nib is medium but the seller said he can change it to fine point (whihc i ike, medium is way to fat for me lol). i belvie the phileas fountain pens are interchangable.

o one more thing, what colour would u go for (the colour of the exterior of the pen)

marble green or good old plain black? lol thanks man.

  • yeah, its kinda strange. The Phileas medium nib is sometimes as thick as other bold nibs. Their fine nib can be as thick as mediums, so if you want a fine nib, try to find their extra fine nib.

  • what they judge nib sizes, for example medium point, is fine point bascailly half the size of a med point?

  • well, in normal terms, yes...in a way

a fine point is going to be thinner than a medium point, but not neccessarily half

  • it uses the same ink cartridges, right?

  • Just like Stephen King once wrote, "the best text processor in the world is a Waterman fountain pen".
