Usually, it's tough to get a good playing affordable Les Paul Gibson. The high end expensive ones do play good, but who wants to fork out for those?

The Eclipse LTDs are selling like hot cakes and are very consistant.

ESP are cloning them perfectly....in other words each one comes out playing well.

Pick ups are changeable, but I'm mostly referring to fret work/action/playability.

@jDemegod I disagree. The 4 dif. eclipses (eclipse II's) that I've had have not played as good as any of the three Gibson LPs (classic, standard, custom) that I have owned. I have an M-II and a KH-2 that play gloriously though. I've also got an LTD truckster that SMOKES eclipses, and I mean no comparison! It is way heavier and sounds way heavier, and plays much faster. I just got an edwards LP and is more resonant than any guitar that I have ever owned; both unplugged and through the amp.

The Original Iron Cross is a Gibson, you can see it on St. Anger Dvd. My singer was trying to get an "real" Explorer Model from Esp (the model before the actual EX Esp series) and we known that Gibson claims the shape copying from ESP and and ESP didn't make the model anymore(the older one). If Gibson want their custumers back, why they don't bring out back the Explorer with no pickguards and with fuckin' EMG pickups. Explorer are for metal and rock not for blues...

dude your wrong sorry, the pickups on the gibson are custom made EMG's to look like originals, i believe that normal EMG 60 & 81 pickups were sanded down and a gold cover was put on them

The EMGs are not sanded down; EMG pickups are potted in resin, so what you see is a metal shell, which is then aged artificially, instead of a plastic shell on the usual pickups.

And it's 81 at the bridge and 60 in the neck.
