  • the engine on the 2009-present GMC Acadia

    Engine

    2.4 L I4

    3.0 L V6

  • the 2010-present GMC Terrain is assembled in

    Ingersoll, Ontario, Canada

  • I had one of these as a rental car comfortable but it takes 30 min to get to 80 mph with the 4cy

  • like all crossovers, it sucks, there just lame, ugly shit boxes that are killing off real suv's

  • @Tbolt1000TForLife Drive one and you will like it, they drive really nice compared to most other vehicles like it.

. If you want an off road SUV you need to buy an old one.... just like if you want a good wagon you either need a volvo or an old Buick or Chevy from the mid 90s

  • @mustang633NY i'll bet you i won't, i hate crossovers, but yeah, and older model SUV like a Range Rover Classic would be an excelent off road vehicle

  • if you buy this car buy the v6 v4 is just not powerfull enough had one of these as a rental car for a week and btw there is a blind spot found that out when i ran into a pole at the gas station

  • @knielsen10151997 terain looks better

  • @CrashJSTest no they dont make them any more

  • this is a nice truck my dad wanted it but he a got a rav 4 its sucks ass it rides like shit but the v6 is nice sounds pretty sweet but gmc all the way gm v6 is better

  • Thumbs up for DEEP DISH PIZZA!

  • Thumbs up if you think they've should have named it YUKON ADORABLE :)

  • 10 second 0-60 with those sluggish shifts that are made for old grannies and grandpas

  • I want one

  • I remember this was what Pontiac was going to release before they shut down -- the only thing that changed from the Pontiac prototype was the name "Torrent" to "Terrain" and the GMC badging.

The Chevy Equinox also received similar updates.

  • really good car has plenty of room inside also is shorter that equinox but wider that equiox the only u have less trunk space the ride is quiet the review camera comes in very handy

  • This is my dream job.

  • @knielsen10151997

They are the same in almost every way. It just comes down to cosmetic looks.

  • i really like the body style of the terrain. if i can find a deal on an AWD version, I would be tempted to pick it up.

  • how much would this car be in about 2014 4 son the basic model

  • @MrFlorida2020 prob they same they will come out with a nicer one

  • Could you guys do the GMC Acadia please?

  • almost got one of these for my wife but im a huge power junky and a 4 cylinder would not do it for me and a 6 wouldnt either so just got her a 2007 yukon denali with the 6.2 and im very happy with the car but 15 miles a gallon is not very bad for me because i own a 85 blazer 454 with a 12ich lift and a 1970 chevelle ss 454 lol so our gas bill is very high but do love the cock pit in this car

  • I got one. Love it.

  • what a beautiful machine

  • The wheel wells are too high. I would lower the height of the Terrain.

  • its almost like the chevy equinox...

  • Great video! For more info check out the Official ChevyEquinoxForum

  • 99mpg!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG 1:56

  • @xptunes It was only reading 99 mpg because he took his foot off the gas.... I know this because any vehicle that has this feature such as my Mazda CX-7 will do the same.... don't let the camera zoom fool you as it was intended to....

  • thats what i want

  • I have the terrain slt 2. It is great! Has a v6 engine. We looked into the equinox and didn't like it as much as the terrain! we got rid of our 2007 Honda piolot for this! I miss the third row seat though! But it is basically a mini suv!! 19 mpg it gets :(

  • nice car...too expensive for a city commuter with good gas milage

  • dude thanks your light footed technique helped me get 19mpg on an h2!!! I just slowly got it up to 65mph and kept it ther and i started to read in between 14 and 19mpg :D

  • @Sherwin930 Cool!

  • I like the outside of this vehicle but the inside looks really cheap in person. Also, this suv is too low to the ground for me. If you are going to buy an SUV you might want something that sits higher than a car.

  • What do u recommend a gmc terrain or a new murano?

Based on which is better overall and most reliable.

  • @TCB1468 - Tough choice ... a lot comes down to personal preference and the local dealerships. Both vehicles are roomy and comfortable with good build quality. For reliability info, you might want to check Consumer Reports. We have a Murano review in the works ...

  • @mpgomatic

    ok thanks for the help.

    ill check consumer reports.

  • why dont american SUVs switch to diesel engines? its greener, economical and can produce a lot of torque as well..

  • we LOVE our 4cyl FWD Terrain. there is nothing i don;t like about it!

  • Government..uhum General Motors is finally getting it's shit together. This is a worthy challenger to anything on the road in the same class. My 06' Sorento only gets about 27mpg at best...though it has a V6...but the Terrain has about as much horsepower with it's inline four. The Terrain's rear seat room is a plus for me also. The front and rear looks of this thing are awesome! The headlamp arrangement is intimidating :<) I'm not too big on the squared off wheel wells but they grow on you.

  • Hello everyone, I have a question about the rear seat entertainment system in the terrain or equinox, can someone tell me how it works? Can you have a dvd playing and listen to a cd at the same time? I see there is a video input on the centre console in the back seat, i am assuming that is where you can plug in another video source ,and play it on 1monitor. Can you listen to the radio and watch a dvd at the same time without using the headphones? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thx

  • why dont you just ask a dealership

  • this car is comfortable good looking and fun to drive. I love my white terrain.

  • nice SUV hope to see it soon in the gulf...

  • Well, It looks like GM understood what is the meaning of making an efficient engine with adequate power for the car model and to make a car with good style. Now let see if all that people in US used to have a 4.5 litter and up V6 or V8 engine really underpowered for the engine size, with around 260HP (maybe 310) will understand what is an efficient car, with enough power for what it is. My intention is not to hurt American Pride feelings, but they need to wake up, US car makers did it already.

  • @idrinorbarsaku

You'll need to talk to the service dept at your dealership. they have to adjust the shift points of the transmission and most likely reprogram the vehicles ECU. it should be covered under warranty....

  • GMC produces another underpowered SUV..... kinda sad really... not to mention they really need to look into their rather serious transmission kick-down problems... just about got hit because of it! come on general motors, what happened?

  • @tucsondog its not really underpowered the V6 should give plenty of power it makes over 250 HP.

  • @DualofChaos the 4cyl seems actually faster than the V6.

  • How is nearly 300hp underpowered? Idiot. I love the eco trimline, thats exactly what people should be driving.

Frankly, you're a stupid selfish asshole with a tiny dick if you drive something that sucks down tons of gas, when you don't need it for anything but driving the kids around, work, and shopping.

I saw some redneck let his V12 truck idle in a parking lot for almost a half hour while he was shopping... I wanted to kill the SOB. People like that should be hung and set on fire.

  • I Didn't expect THIS kind of response.....

264 horsepower IS a decent amount of power, but not in a 5000 lb vehicle. The terrain has been designed primarily to move people and gear. In an emergency situation, where you have someone coming up behind you who can't stop and you floor it to get out of harm's way, do you really want to be crossing your fingers that you will be ok? The 4:58 1st gear with the 3:53 axle do help, but in an emergency, are you content hoping it's enough?

  • Most drivers aren't skilled enough drivers to use that kind of power to anticipate and avoid an accident like what you described.

I've been driving for many years, and every year I see people constantly get into the dumbest accidents that could have been easily avoided by staying alert and using common sense.

In most emergency situations, steering and breaking are going to help you more than power anyway. So sorry, but you're full of it.

  • I may be full of it, but POWER has saved my life in just that scenario.

  • Completely agree. My dad got an Audi A5 Sportback in Europe and got the 170 horsepower 2.0 diesel engine. It gets 45 mpg!! And it delivers plenty of power too!

Americans are always looking for more power, which is ridiculous because you can't even drive fast in America!! Policemen are everywhere!

  • Mind your own fucking business you elitist prick! I will now go idle by 6.2L V-8 hummer, how you like that!

  • I'd rather watch you be run over with it... multiple times... slowly, till you look like a half empty tube of toothpaste and you puke out your own guts you ignorant uneducated inbred redneck piece of garbage. :) That would make me smile... a little too much.

  • @GeneralHoohah calm down my indian, curry munching brother

  • @GeneralHoohah dude chill you don't need to be mean lol

  • I would buy this over a Crap-RV or RAV4 anyday. I think it looks better than an Equinox, which looks like a generic crossover.

  • i wonldnt call the rav4 crap it will last longer has more power its 4 wd instead of awd and has a higher resell value. the numbers dont lie Rav4 is a better choice so get your facts stright before stating somthings crap.

  • @davidsrx793 Rav4 is ok, but its only real advantage is more power. The GMC looks way better and has an interior that doesnt look like a corolla.

  • How do you know it will last longer since tihs is the very first production year for the Terrain?

It is not more powerful. It does not have true 4WD, I would rather have AWD then a fake hydraulic-transfer case "four wheel drive". The RAV4's 4WD is the worst in it's class. The CR-V doesn't have a real 4WD either but it's still head and shoulders above the RAV.

Last but certainly not least, the Rav4 is a girly looking car. If you're a girl, then great. If you a guy, not so great.

  • @helorm341 and the rav4 rides like shit too

  • @dan7161996 the rav4 is a damn jolt wagon. my old 1979 chevy scottadale custom deluxe with a 4 in. lift and 35 in. super swampers has a smoother more comfortable ride.

  • Toyota = Overpriced japanese car!! Keep it in mind. To buy an Overpriced Toyota (not to mention all the recalls due to the low quality in their models to keep the sales with their fucked economy), I'd rather preffer to put my money in a Santa Fe, Grand Vitara. Outlander or in a Terrain, 10000 times. Resell value? Just fame, the cheap Toyota's argument to justify their overpriced cars. Learn something, young boy: Buy a car, not a Brand.

BTW Rav4 is just another AWD, no low range gear box.

  • I like this WAY better than the Equinox, which to me looks like a big gay egg. If eggs could be gay, that is. This Terrain looks real sharp. It's butch and glam all in one sexy package.

  • If only they put in that fold up third row seating like the Outlander has...

  • So this car did not actually reach the 32 miles per gallon highway correct? I think that if GM wants to advertise car with this kind of fuel economy it should at least exceed it by an mpg or two. you probably drive with a very light foot for all of your reviews right? So most people who drive a normal SUV and switch to the would probably never reach those numbers from driving with a heavy to make up for the lack of torque from a smaller displacement engine. This is directed towards GM not MPG.

  • We were able to slightly exceed the EPA estimates for the I4 AWD version. We did not test the I4 FWD version, which is rated at 32 MPG highway.

Our highway testing is fairly methodical over a common course. We test two ways: with and without cruise control. When cruise is on, there's no foot on the accelerator. When cruise is off, a light foot shows its benefit.

In general, folks who drive with a heavy foot will have a tough time hitting the official numbers in most vehicles.

  • @mpgomatic my family has a new 2.4 FWD, and we can easily beat the highway MPG. the 4 Cyl is an incredible engine, and lugs the rather heavy car around like a larger V6.

  • Um FYI, that 32 mpg was for the FWD Terrain. They were testing the AWD terrain which was suppose to get 29 mpg hwy but they got slightly better than that. Pay attention next time.

  • Haha, I bet you don't even own a car.

  • Your right.

I don't understand why someone would buy this over an Equinox :\

  • i was looking in the nox or terr. which one you thinking is the best for a crossover

  • the gmc

  • thanx any more comments. i was thinking the same. i was going toward the gmc

  • I like the GMC Terrain better. I like bold styling that this one has.

  • it looks like a sienna in the back

  • wow, i actually like that car. it gives a good balance of fuel economy, SUV like genetics, and other standard options that are cool. that is a well engineered car.

  • less than 1k miles and already doing 0-60s =)

  • Great review. Your focus on fuel economy adds to the information, without taking away from the review as a whole.

A couple minor suggestions though; demonstrate the features (like the rear seat adjustments), and please post the MSRP prices somewhere. Even if they are unspoken in the background it would be much appreciated.

Thanks for putting out some the best car reviews on youtube.

  • Thanks for the kinds words and suggestions, Morris! I missed the rear seat footage, unfortunately ... overlooked it on the checklist while shooting. AWD 2010 GMC Terrain SLT-1 MSRP: $29,200 + Cargo management package - $245 Sunroof - $795 Liftgate - $495 Trailer package - $350 Carbon black metallic paint - $195 Total options - $2,080 Total vehicle & options - $31,280 Destination charges - $745 Total vehicle price - $32,025
  • General Motors always makes great cars!

  • This is sweet. I think I like the RAV4 better in this class though.

  • Gotta drive 'em both ... =)

  • I bet the GMC has better floor mats! Sorry that was tacky. The GMC is bold, but I think GM has a winning duet w/ the Nox/Terrain. Better mileage and room than the competition. Thanks Dan

  • @mpgomatic

Yes my mother is interested in a compact SUV. I been looking around for info for her.
