@pbppg - Sorry, but he did mention the "APN". I'm in the US and the APN for most of us using AT&T is "wap.cingular". Whether this works or no, I haven't tried.
"Sprint is starting to crack down on anyone using their Blackberry's as a modem with the 'Unlimited date plan', Sprint is starting to lock out phones as they find clients using them as a modem. The only way you can actually use your blackberry as a modem, without getting it locked out, is purchasing a 49.99 a month "tethering fee" or use third party software
i tried following the instructions on my VISTA OS, and had problems when trying to connect the phone (after asking which modem I want to use), can you show how to tether on VISTA OS?
I am trying to get this right but not working very well. I have a Bold on AT&T, and up to the entering the "at+ thing" it is the same like on his laptop, but as soon as it is done, I am having hard time to start a connection because of the username and password, cant get one. I have VAIO with Vista, and I dont get the screen NEW CONNECTION WIZARD and all that stuff. Can somebody help. Thanks in advance
GREAT Video. I actually successfully did this on my old Windows XP puter; but when I tried it today on my new Sonay Vaio with Windows Vista, it won't connect and I keep getting Error "734: The PPP link Control Was Terminated" Also..there was not an option to add a desk top icon as there was with the XP. Any help is appreciated.
this is the very best!! I have vista i figured out how to give myself permission under security for phone and modem then went to the other steps.. like a charm. it's great thank you thank you thank you. for the name of your carrier check your smart home under mobile networks, type that exactly as it's listed between the " " . this is the best thing since sliced bread!!
The process for Vista is slightly different. We have had a couple of enquiries about this, so will prepare a video just for Vista users but won't be able to do so until next week.
The error that you are receiving could refer to many problems. Suggest you do a google search on the error, which will bring up a list of what it could be and then go through using a process of elimination. Sorry I could not be of more assistance.
thanks

Do you have to pay for any of this.. if your phone doesnt have internet
sereno093088 3 years ago
You need to have a data plan on your phone so that you can connect to the internet.

What kind of through put can you get. Are you connected to the 3G network or is this regular cell network data speeds?
MauiBeachBum 3 years ago
Testing on the Telstra network we have achieved 1.2mbs -1.5mbs consistently.

Great clip, worked perfectly. Then was able to setup bluetooth connection also. Had alot of problems before watching your clip. well done!

two things< do you have to have the teathering plan for it? or can u just have the regular data plan, and what is the ip part for att. thanks
cooldawg103 3 years ago
Hi so sorry for taking so long to reply - thought I had replied pre Christmas and just returned from holidays.
1. You just use your normal data plan when tethering - there is no need for another plan
2. The APN address is different for every carrier so you need to contact ATT who will provide you with their unique APN address.

Hello sir, Thank you for the great video,
I am having trouble w/ the last part of operation, im in the USA on ATT, did everything right i believe, but I cannot connect to the BB at the end.
It says "error 692 there was a hardware failure "
it also says the connection is firewalled....
Does it matter if my BB is connected as a Mass storage device? Is that why maybe?
what should i do?

Yes, to be able to have your blackberry bold operate as a modem, you need a data plan.
