If you say that the course of the fight would be different if he wasn't holding the cage, I would say probably... But it's on each and every fighter to use the rules on his own profit. Scary how skilled this dude is. If a top of the food chain wrestler can't take him down and grind him out thats an eye opener to the whole 145 lb divison. Lets face it, nobody at 145 is going to out strike him on the feet. Add to the fact that he has great BJJ so his submission defence is top notch against other submission fighters out there. All that said, I don't see anyone taking his belt for a long time. The same way Anderson has not lost since '06, we might not see Aldo lose until like 2018

1. Holding the cage just stopped a take-down Mendez could have had. But Jose would have shot right back up FAST anyways.

@0910dc 11-0. Now 11-1. Back when Mendes was 8-0 I knew he would fight Aldo, and if he had played his cards right and got the fight before Florian did, he may have had a better chance. The Aldo that fought Hominick was beatable, the Aldo who fought Florian was challengable, but the Aldo that showed up in Rio was a beast, just like he was in all his WEC fights.

But in the end I just love to see great fights or fighters doing great things. so I was kinda rooting for Mendez but Jose knew he was gonna go for a takedown of that clinch so he threw a knee, goddam genius.
