The anti tilt follower craze kicked off after the Army's "extreme dust test" found that the M4 suffered hundreds of malfunctions which were related to the magazine.
So the quest for better magazine components, designs and materials has been going on for a few years now.
And its my understanding that 70% of all AR-15 malfunctions are a result of the magazine so the mags do have some issues that should be addressed.
I don't see the point in all these new mags and followers. Good usgi mags are fine for civillian use. I have some that are 20 years old and work fine....
To enhance compatibility with double and triple magazine pouches as well as aftermarket mag couplers, the EMAG™ features a slim, rib-less, anti-snag profile. Front-to-back and side-to-side dimensions have been adjusted to ensure compatibility with as many STANAG 4179 weapons as possible, including most non-Colt spec AR15 rifles.
@multicam2000 Yeah I think they are great with one exception, they don't fit in some double or triple stack mag. pouches due to the floor plate being wider than the mag body. Other than that, they are fantastic.
i agree i tried to jam 3 into a 3mag pouch and they are hard to get out quickly. i thought maybe the emags were gonna be thinner according to the magpul website
