  • possible, it should go to Google and type "hxc emulator" then order the emulator and settle in machines compatible. otherwise he must go on "audiofanzine.fr" the blog explains everything but everything is in French. peace

  • I love this sound!

  • nice tune, feel it

  • Nice gritty groove! love it...

  • that was beautiful

  • f**kng BUMPS! i dig it man.

  • nice track.

    i will check your others.

that's a good versatile use of this fantastic sampler.

  • amazing what some dudes can do with that 12 seconds of sample time on the SP.

    Kinda sparse...but still listenable.

  • @pmsan29 It's 10 seconds :)

  • luv the sounds here, Im sitting beside an s612, and an s950;)

  • NIce jam on that SP1200. Im a huge fan of 12 bit samplers, need to get some emu's in my setup. about half of my studio, is made up of Akai samplers, and an akai analog synth.

  • Wow...This is what I used in the early 90's to do alll my records on Nervous Records,Strictly Rhythm and Av8 records....I miss using this machine...but I still have my Mp60II With the 3000 chip..It's still a beast...

    Peace

  • Thanks for watching. The legendary DAT Project is one of my great inspirations. I still prefer the dirtier and warmer sound of 90's house - I think it should be re-vitalized. Big respect. Peace.

  • Ahhh the SP, Todd Terry's drum machine of choice since he started making beats.

Harder hitting than any akai and warmer than they ever could get, EMU always pissed on Akai sound wise imo

  • Sure, I also prefer the SP compared to Akai but soundwise old Akai like MPC 60/3000/2000 is still miles ahead of any modern soft or hardware I am aware of.

  • Not to sure about the later ones personaly but yeah the 12 bit machines sound ace and preffer them to the sound of modern shizz, the mpc-3000 is a nice sounding 16 bit machine, funny thing is the old S series 3000 sounds better than the XL and the MPC-2000/XL doesnt sound as good as the MPC-3000 (Played both side by side)

Any way I love the feel of working with hardware.Nice tune by the way!!Fucking deep ass propper Detroit shit right there!! Sounds like something by Omar S on FXHE.

  • Just out of interest did you sample from a record/etc or did you sample yourself for the chords and drums? Sounds dope either way, it's got that propper Detroit gritty vibe, I can feel the soul

  • Thanks mate. Everything is here is sampled from vinyl and sequenced with the SP, then recorded to Logic 8 where some EQ, compression and delay effect is added.

  • Hey VinylJunkie, If you want my opinion on the Akai S series sampler, since i own the S612, S950, S1000, S3000XL, the S612 is by far the warmest and dirtiest sampler I own. I use the S612 to sample individual drum sounds, run it through the Akai AX-60 synth engine, then put that on my S950. Thats my Secret to making warm and dirty samples on the Akai samplers.

  • You know you are not the only one who does that ;-) Charles Webster also uses that Akai to run all his stuff through as well. I have a Prophet-2000 which is broken now but that gave samples a whole new life, that thing sounded great and I think it had the same filter chips as the P5. My first akai was a S3000, S series rock. Oh yeah I didn't get that D-550 as it was sold but I'm picking up today a lovely roland JX-3P

  • I also have an Akai S2800 which is basically a two channel S3000, and sounds creamy as hell - ain't no wonder since it supposed to have the same sound circuitry as the MPC3000. I paid 65 euros, a bargain!

  • I like it. But it needs a bass note on the 1 when the chord loop kicks in.

  • Que beat mas repetitivo..
