I remember watching a broadcast from the Constitution many years ago during a turn-a-round. Detachments of Marines and sailors in whites where standing at attention during Evening Colors when one of the sailor's cell phone rang and he answered it. I would never of done that during my 23 years
well the uss constitution fires her cannons every day at 0800 am when theyraise the flag this videoe reflects lowereing the flag for the evening the bugle call is retreat and the next bugal call is carry on
my dad use to be a tour guide on this ship. who was friends with murder victem louie gentillie on this ship. alot cool stories. he met alot of famous people like the band styx

funny thing..the people who work/live nearby..they don't bother with car alarms, it's the damn visitors who probably don't know better! .next time, cannon should aim AT the cars!
Patriotism is not being taught in the schools, or the homes of America anymore. Every american should have more pride ini their country, but our current administration
in Washington has all but destroyed that. It's not like i went to school so many years ago.
I couldnt agree with you anymore. Even when I was in high school I was never taught patriotism. And ironically, myself being of mexican descent, I have not yet met another american with as much patriotic pride as I do. Being a US Navy veteran, it would be a blessing just to stand beside that magnificant boat. Even just watching it on videos, you can feel the history in it. To my knowledge, Old Ironsides is the oldest navy ship built in the late 1700's.
She is the oldest ship on the lists, launced in 1797. She is actually the oldest ship in commission anywhere in the world. That's why the Navy attracted me more than the other services. Cutting edge tech, but a healthy respect for tradition. "My Nation, may she always be right, but my Nation, right or wrong."
I know, wish I could have been there to see her under sail. I only got to see her under tow in the river in '86. As a former US Navy sailor, it was always my dream to serve aboard that legendary ship.
I got to see the Golden Hinde under sail, as well as take a tour of her when she stopped by in Newport (oregon). I live near there, and we just happen to be lucky enough to be passing through when she was in port. Such an awesome sight, i'll never forget it!
I don't know about that! Sometimes i think i was born in the wrong decade, but then i think of all the awesome things we have now. Plus, If we were born in the "rite" time, things like these would simply be part of every day life, no different than say, the internet now. But today, we can truly appreciate ships like this. Ya know?
She's lasted 200 yrs and is being refurbished as we speak.Plus cannonballs bounced off of her sides during battle.I think she could handle a full broadside.
decent! i was on the constitution a week and a half ago. i only wish i could be on it today. the navy is going to sail it out today for the fourth of july to fire its cannons in a 21 gun salute.

There are some douchebag condo owners that want them to stop shooting the guns because it rattles their wine glasses. Probably from New York.

Not to be a dick but you should be standing there with your hand over your heart and not talking. Military personnel should be saluting.

They still use it also. For training. It takes regular sea going trips.

The HMS Victory one word HUGE.
hannigan06 3 years ago
@hannigan06 Size doesn't matter, what mattered was that Horatio Nelson was admiral of Victory, who is easily the greatest admiral of all time,

Were you a guard? Are there guards on the USS Constitution at all times?
Trains1991 4 years ago
Yes. Since she is technically still an active ship, she has security maintained by her Marines 24/7.
NJHCRevEdge 3 years ago
that is SOOO cool, wish I could do that!
