@FabioBlood That's right, the preamp of the first amp is controlling the poweramp of all 3 amps. My pedal board has a digital reverb pedal with stereo outs, so I ran them to separate poweramp inputs. The nice thing is that all the amps are then controlled by a common EQ and volume control.

@FabioBlood I've never used KT66's. The JJ's are pretty good, but the best EL34's I've ever used were a pair of Groove Tubes EL34's rated as "S-5". I don't know if GT has the same supplier for this particular tube, since I tried them over 20 years ago. All I can remember was they really woke up my amp.

@bladerunner12 I prefer the top speaker of the top cab because I find it sounds better.....for some odd reason, the bass response is better.  I usually mic the left speaker so the guitar cord won't be dangling against the mic.

@knutdude Plug into one amp, then from the send jack, use a splitter to go into the return jacks of the other amps. This way you are using the preamp from one amplifier to run the rest of them.

hey riff , how does that Hiwatt cab stand against the marshalls?

@sleeplessingc Back in the day, Hiwatt was considered a upscale alternative to Marshall and is probably better quality in terms of construction. It's loaded with 25 watt Fane speakers and has a very rich, warm sound. It's a great cabinet, although I prefer the sound of my Marshall cabs.

Line 6 cabs are horrible. Ever heard of Mesa Boogie cabs. They are HAND BUILT from hand picked wood, and the speakers are top notch. Line 6 are cheap and not worth anything.

ALternatively, Marshall 1960A or B could suffice.

Are those jcm800? I have jcm800 2203zw, and it has a completely different sound (though I use chorus, sd1 and a les paul in addition). And at 3 it must be really loud. I dont usually play louder than 1 in my house.

Gibson built a limited run of black '61 Reissue SG's with gold hardware in 2007, so I picked one up.
