@EvilDestroyerable It may be expensive, but some of the individual designers I know ~might~ ship to you. I would check FX-sabers website for the right designer for you.

im actualy subscribe to ur videos and to plecter labs, im making a starkiller lightsaber with crystal chamber and i really hope to get a crystal focus, or at least a petit curton board :P!! so i subscribe to all the webs possible to get one :D!!!
@EffectsDriver hi there, glad you enjoyed the vid... plenty more on my channel, including live performances...
As to the actual SW films... oh, no--not at all! Those are almost entirely graphics & CGI. The sword props were usually super lightweight aluminum rods or other such materials, which are later "rotoscoped" over using graphics.
Apparently, I hear there WERE some clips of actual lit props used in Episode II... but those shots were solely for the closeup look in darkness.
@greytale yo. good work on the video, cool stuff. ok so my little bro will shit his pants if he gets one of these for his b-day, dont suppose you got any of these on sale?? pleeeeez!!
@parkin8r I don't live with my mother. I live with yours--remember, son?
By the way, GET A JOB. And a haircut. Oh, and go get me some beer while you're at it, sizzle chest... your mom and I need some personal time for a little while, ok cupcake?
hey this sounds retarded but im making a sad attempt to make a light saber. i am useing a bpc pipe for the handle, an led red bike light, to use as a light source, and my question was where can i get or how can i make the blade of the saber. in dier need for help
@123456fliper Honestly, it would be a lot less expensive and MUCH better if you attempted the project in similar ways as to most everyone else making LED sabers.
Visit thecustomsabershop for more information, and the only thing I can recommend that you MUST change is for you to use a Luxeon III, Seoul P4 or LEDEngin "5-watt" or "10-watt" LED instead of the one you've used. I'd also avoid PVC pipe--it's too weak... use metal / aluminum.
@Marle111 hahahah no way, people like Kjer, Sesshomaru, Anis Cheurfa and Vellu are the real jedi, hehehe. :)
But certainly it DOES take an amount of study, patience and electronics work to get these things made "just right". Not to mention they are made for staged combat (aka "hard beatings", lol) too...
@TehRude heheh, yah--Gravy (robodragonsdf1) pretty much pioneered the idea of making a sort of "standard" for lightwhip adapters in LED saber type products... it's actually pretty recent with the development...
Keep your eyes peeled for adapters to show up soon enough at thecustomsabershop. The idea will be as easy as removing your "saber blade" and replacing it with the whip adapter + whip fiber. Extremely simple! :)
I need one of these... I have been having some issues with people (possibly AWOL Storm Troopers) lurking around my house at night... I called the police but they just laugh at me... I'm thinking one of these lightsabers with be good protection against the dark forces closing in on me. If anyone has any advice in the mean time, please do elaborate. Thanks.
COP: "Which one, ma'am? Which one stole your stuff...?"
Girl looks at suspects... all the troopers look the same!!
GIRL: "Uh... well.. it could be TK911... or... WAIT!! No, no... I'm SURE it was TK69... holdupholdup hold up... no. I got it now. The one on the end--TK666. That's him.
@TheCBCStudios Uh, that depends heavily on your definition of "real".
If you mean "real" as in they light up brightly, they playback sound in conjunction with motion, they are durable + safe to spar/duel/do staged combat/choreography with... then YES, they are "real".
@sugarkid33 Thanks... sorry I wasn't able to respond sooner, things just get busy. :)
I have some videos that explain how to build these in more detail--you just have to look through my channel for them. Additionally, visit thecustomsabershop and fx-sabers sites for information, help, forums and wiring guides, etc.
In general, you'd need electronics & soldering experience, along with the general understanding of batteries/voltage & LEDs.
@sugarkid33 I built them... you should have a look at more of my videos on the channel, and a lot of your questions will be answered.
I also just finished my latest "Sound Compendium CD" (#3), which includes a ton of new lightsaber sound sets... along with other "sword type" sound sets 100% of my own creation/design. Check 'em out... :)
@isomikieee the tubes alone are transparent, hollow polycarbonate. In order to capture the light and bring out the brightness, a good technique of diffusion is required.
How you diffuse light is really up to you... but there are "better ways" and "crappier ways", hahahaha.
We use the better ways, lol. It's hard to explain here on a short y-tube message though. Look us up at thecustomsabershop or on FX-Sabers...
They can be difficult to make, depending on which you mean, and how complicated + outer dia & inner dia of the parts comprising the "hilt".
They do indeed handle a beating. See my "Balance of Power" live stage performances for that... and yes, the electronics & parts (when soldered correctly) are nearly impervious to shock/collision damage.
I have to say , i've seen quite a bit of they sabers you have both made and also modified, and i have to say that they are all excellent most defiantly. You have much of my respect on them Novastar and also to all the ones who have helped in making them. Keep it up :).
@Gustavo0929 it's listed right on the video (via Y-tube), but it is called Tomoyasu Hotei, meaning Battle with no honor or fighting with no respect/something to that effect. :) I believe it is from the "Kill Bill" film by Quentin Tarantino.
Actually, this person on the video certainly gets more girls and lives greater experiences than you will ever do. Considering the fact that this guy is a great fencer, a pretty respectable tricker, eletronician, comedian, and still finds time to upload silly videos to entertain us all, I'd rather look up to him than you.
@HerrTenko ... Thanks, Herr... I appreciate that, but I will say:
No need to give h8terz any kind of feedback, or even the time of day. When we all get right down to it--respect should be shown to ANY & EVERYONE who is out there working hard... living/doing their dreams... & helping OTHERS to achieve their own dreams/goals.
Fattyspins109fatty may have his/her opinion... & although it's grossly inaccurate & charged by "knee jerk" reactive hatred... it doesn't reflect on anyone but him.
@Xenatai ... hi Xenatai... yup, the whip is a fantastic innovation that my friend "Gravy" made. His y-tube account is "robodragonsdf1", and you can see more about the whip in both of our accounts.
@Nandorunit ... nope. They are made for heavy punishment, and you can see what I mean if you look at my most recent video as of April/May 2010 (Gravy Time) or even my more "traditional"/"big project" saber fights called "Balance of Power", episodes I & II (2006/2007)...
@concon... each of the sabers are very different, and each cost differently.
In general... you are seeing sabers that cost anywhere from $80 to $400. Just for the parts alone. I don't really count labor... since I (mostly) make them myself. :)
@dwj99... if you can read, you can see the link in the "more info" section to the right. :)
And hey, if you don't dig... you might like "Mi-Jinn-Gonn"--the geek name of the guy who wrote and performed the theme song for "The Custom Saber Shop". It's pretty funny.
ROFLROFLROFL! I'll always be rewarded for watching your vids all the way through. Thanks for the laughs and Gravy-flavored eye candy. R.I.P. 2009 - you were a good year. -e57
@ Evilgotthone... I'm afraid not. I'm not much of a sabersmith anyhow, and you can certainly commission someone to help you out. Check out my links to the sides for more 411...
congratulations on your wedding best wishes to you and many thanks for all your tutorials your vids actually got me interested in the crystal focus sabers thanx -Darth Malor
Kant... you know what? You're covering a very important concern--the photometric output of all LEDs will vary... withing the SAME BIN CODE.
In other words... just because you have a Lux V green with bin X and another person has exactly the "same"... the photometric output can vary greatly, and it doesn't appear to be "regulated" in a super precise manner--at least by Lumileds.
Anyhow... it's too bad that they are being discontinued, but... oh well.
@Xeo & KenobiJeff... the song is "Tomoyasu Hotei", and yes that is battle without honor/respect.
I first heard it on the Kill Bill soundtrack. I was just screwing around and decided it'd be fun to use for this video. Granted... I just noted my vid is "blocked in some countries". Nice. >(
The Thrasher font is gnarly, indeed! I fear for the life/sanity/ego of anyone who tries to burglarize your house while you're making one of these videos....lightsaber to the face. :-D
@ Goodman... I'd need to have a thick-walled blade ready for that... but... hmm--it's true, a saber with a thick-walled blade can CERTAINLY be very deadly.
Don't I know this... from the BOP I days... when (as mistakes DO happen) some of us got bopped in the head! :)
I noticed some of the sabers light kinda fades towards the end of the tip. Does that have to do with the led, mirror tip, or power source? The guitar one was pretty sweet! lol
Keisuke--the fading near the tip can certainly be from what you mentioned, but the camera "bias" can show this as well.
In general, they are all pretty bright, but--in this case--the Luxeon V blue *blows them all away*. I don't know why the Luxeon V green isn't as "vibrant" as my blue... but I've been told that it could just be a "not as ideal" green/bin.
The bin # for LEDs is important for obtaining the right color hue and brightness/vibrant look.

how much do thoses cost
concon5978 2 years ago
@concon... each of the sabers are very different, and each cost differently.
In general... you are seeing sabers that cost anywhere from $80 to $400. Just for the parts alone. I don't really count labor... since I (mostly) make them myself. :)

And hey, if you don't dig... you might like "Mi-Jinn-Gonn"--the geek name of the guy who wrote and performed the theme song for "The Custom Saber Shop". It's pretty funny.

ddrmegamixer 2 years ago
@ ddrmega You're pretty close--in order to get the "right curve", Grayven used a "Rainbow" vaccuum tube section.
Otherwise, you'd need expensive machinery to take some special pipe-work and bend it at the correct angle... WAAAAAY too expensive... :)
greytale 2 years ago
One of us must have gotten an odd Lux V blue - my blue is definitely dimmer than my Lux V green.
I really need to figure out how to do the Rebel clash flash thing myself - since the Lux I, III, and V are going out of production.
And EPIC WIN ON THE GUITAR FONT! \m/
kantlavar 2 years ago
Kant... you know what? You're covering a very important concern--the photometric output of all LEDs will vary... withing the SAME BIN CODE.
In other words... just because you have a Lux V green with bin X and another person has exactly the "same"... the photometric output can vary greatly, and it doesn't appear to be "regulated" in a super precise manner--at least by Lumileds.
Anyhow... it's too bad that they are being discontinued, but... oh well.
greytale 2 years ago
Regardless, and especially if I ever get my hands on a CF board, looks like I gots me some learnin' and researchin' to do.

KenobiObiJeff 2 years ago
Yeah, its from a ddr game, either supernova (probably :P) or ddr extreme. I can't remember what its called and its bugging me lol.
xeodisc 2 years ago
HA, its called battle without honor or humanity.
Tank you amazon adverts LOL somehow it figured out that was the song. Must analyze the sound or something....
xeodisc 2 years ago
@Xeo & KenobiJeff... the song is "Tomoyasu Hotei", and yes that is battle without honor/respect.
I first heard it on the Kill Bill soundtrack. I was just screwing around and decided it'd be fun to use for this video. Granted... I just noted my vid is "blocked in some countries". Nice. >(

The Thrasher font is gnarly, indeed! I fear for the life/sanity/ego of anyone who tries to burglarize your house while you're making one of these videos....lightsaber to the face. :-D
Goodman078 2 years ago
@ Goodman... I'd need to have a thick-walled blade ready for that... but... hmm--it's true, a saber with a thick-walled blade can CERTAINLY be very deadly.
Don't I know this... from the BOP I days... when (as mistakes DO happen) some of us got bopped in the head! :)

My,my,my.l i forgot how busy Novastar was this year. With Loopkicks and all.

Doing jump kicks off the furniture makes the future wife unhappy, BTW, HAHAHA!
Cool to see what you have done with Jay's BS-18...that saber deserves a sound upgrade for sure.

Jokerprodution 2 years ago
haha nice video, when the saber with music came on i was like 'HOLY SHIT WTF IS THIS?!"
the ending was really nice, and btw, nova, do you actually build sabers like a sabersmith?
ulamss5 2 years ago
ulamss5... yes, I indeed build sabers, lol... and just for example:
* 5 of the sabers shown in the vid were exclusively built by me (although Erv re-did 1 for electronics)
* ALL but 2 of the sabers shown I have "had a hand in"... some in significant ways, others in minor ways
* I'm usually too busy making USE of the sabers vs. showing vids about them in full detail... but I do what I can
* I generally do not sell any sabers at this point.
So in some ways--I am like a smith... in others--not.
greytale 2 years ago
Oh wow! Gratz dude! lol Marriage isn't that hard. Communication is the hard part. lol
Keisuke42 2 years ago
I noticed some of the sabers light kinda fades towards the end of the tip. Does that have to do with the led, mirror tip, or power source? The guitar one was pretty sweet! lol
Keisuke42 2 years ago
Keisuke--the fading near the tip can certainly be from what you mentioned, but the camera "bias" can show this as well.
In general, they are all pretty bright, but--in this case--the Luxeon V blue *blows them all away*. I don't know why the Luxeon V green isn't as "vibrant" as my blue... but I've been told that it could just be a "not as ideal" green/bin.
The bin # for LEDs is important for obtaining the right color hue and brightness/vibrant look.
