Haha, how absurd. University isn't for everyone!! Why should it be provided free? When the government already get raped by our schools and colleges to provide us with free education (which I agree with, and we pay for with taxes).

Free* university education would mean higher taxes for everyone, and would mean many more people going to university just for the sake of it, as another step paved for them.

I am all for better conditions.

But for a public education system, they should also be provided by the public.

Otherwise you have a "two class education system". Those who can afford it get the "better education" and others no "higher education" at all, cos they can't pay for it.

Free and Emancipatory education is essential for a proper democracy.

Well, the point is to have an education system where all people (no matter what social class they belong to) can have access to it.

Please also note that to me the primary purpose of education is not to increase once own "human capital" on the labour market, but to enable each individual to critically reflect his/her (social) environment. This needs to be learned. And this should be the primary task of a public education system.

And having access to such education is a right, not a privilege.

And again...you have access to education but not the luxury of not paying for it. still you can ahve a scholarship or a loan...and many people have a job to pay for education - so do I. and guess what...it works!!!...

And there is absolutely no reason why students should be forced to take up loans to receive (the basic necessity in a democracy) access to the education, they like to receive.
