  • David snake... Oh I mean Wolfe my bad..... Lol

  • "Well when you're married you'll understand the importance of fresh produce"- Tony Soprano.

  • I don't like juicing. I prefer eating raw food raw, organic and whole. I love RAW organic kale. I don't know why raw foodists insist on juicing as opposed to eating it whole. I really believe that food oxidizes when you process it though blenders and juicers. Even cutting kale with a knife starts to aler the food and it starts to oxidize. The less processing the better. Pick from the ground and eat. Simple.

  • he looks like johnny depp in this interview!

  • I liked your video very much.

  • More people Should see this! Spread it!

  • he sells colostrum ants and deer placenta he is sick

  • can u feel his passion

  • At Wal-mart, can you find a good variety of raw items?

  • @heartcenter333 Walmart is definitely not the best place to find healthy food or sustain your community for that matter. Look for farmer's markets, health food stores or regular supermarkets. If you don't have those it's because Wal-Mart killed them.

  • mom's cooking sucked and buying food is so much better than gardening. dirty nails ewwww

  • @zorbatheok Well then have fun eating food that has been touched by all kinds of people and lacks the nutrition you could get by gardening yourself. Not to mention it has been shipped and was in dirty boxes. Wear gloves If you don't want to get your hands dirty.

  • I don't believe in juicing. false gurus are talking about juicing. The fiber is there with bioflavonoids. This guy is not an expert. I spoke to a great nutritionist who is progressive who also agrees that juice is inferior. We need fiber to keep our digestion strong. I dilute juice occasionally and most eat raw veggie and and limit raw whole fruits that are organic. I like juicing ONE THING..wheat grass. This guy is commerical

  • @gojiberries1 I am close to David Wolfe's age and I also look alot younger than him. I look twenty years younger than my age.

he is not a health guru and I will not follow false commerical gurus.

  • @gojiberries1 I agree, smoothies are the better choice when compared to juices. However, juices are amazing when you want to give your digestive system a rest and get nutrients straight into your bloodstream. Both are very healthy methods. Do not forget fiber though!

  • @gojiberries1 Yeah he's commercial and he's selling LOVE sweet LOVE.

    :)

  • lol a "wild foodist" at heart! ;D

  • Morel, if you were telling the truth I'd give you a thumbs up. Unfortunately you just seem to be another immature person spreading your own misery that you are too polluted to even see exists.

  • The most powerfull and muscular animals are they eating meat? no only green veggies.

  • Such good advice, I love David Wolfe

  • He's absolutely right on 2:05-2:17. Thanks David.

  • I don't know what planet this guy's from--Earth, maybe? But living in cities with really no Earth references we may as well be on Uranus. I know cement, asphalt, concrete are but scrambled & hardened Earth, tho fairly well disguised. I know more community gardens are being started around North America. But when people rent in the city, there's scarcely the incentive to work the land. Landlords these daze are worse than back in feudalism. Tho even in an apartmt we can sprout for nutrient density.

  • if you have access to a balcony, porch, or patio, its possible to have your own garden using the new Square Foot Gardening method, as written about by Mel Bartholomew. google his name, find his website, get his book from your local library. it is worth it.

  • I finally saw 1 of Mel's vids & saw expertvillage's further explanat'n. I C there's not much 2 it. Just 1 plant per sq ft. R we sure that's optimal spacing? Any closer crowds both plants? Either way, this would B much more nourishing with companion planting. Then further distance should be kept between the same kind of plant, so the decay of other types of plants will far better nourish than insane monocropping. then mycorrhize & microbe'ize cuz symbiosis between microbes, mushrooms & plants.

  • My husband and I started 'square foot gardening' but we are coming across major bug problems, plant crowding, dying off, overgrowing etc... It's not working for us (yet!) but fortunately we have an outdoor garden to rely on. Still, we'd like to get the method down so we can just reach over and grab it.

  • yes. Growing your own fresh food.

  • I'm ready to grow some zucchini, if it would ever stop snowing!

  • Right on David and Jenna. I'm with 8stepsifu on your comment. People are just too darned lazy - and greedy and that's what's wrong. Now, let's focus on DOING what's right! Rock on...

  • Americans complain about the economy and everyone has a front yard, then they say they can't afford vetetables and watch t.v for hours a day. That is grotesque, wealth, laziness and apathy. Poverty is a natural consequence of that lifestyle. Vegetables need to be eaten ASAP, fruit/potatoes can wait, veggies can not. Best to have them in your yard.

  • Another tip if you can't find organic produce is to print out the guide from foodnews dot org

Also, my naturopath once told me that if one can't find organic food one should take chollera and spirulina to detox the body .

  • Go in the forest, search a linden tree, pick your leafes. You cant imagine how good they taste. For me they taste better than spinach, better than any salad. They taste soft, nearly sweet when you chew them well and not even bitter. I am sure that most people who are into raw(also those who cant become 100% raw[Allen Carrs Method will help you!]) WILL LOVE IT. Get your linden leafes you re going to enjoy them like you re enjoying durian... i learned to enjoy green leafes so much!

  • 6 days progress 100% and high amount of green leafy veggies: max strength 41 arm pushups before, after 6 days 48 arm pushups. Of course the same speed :D

  • I want to grow a garden of fruits and veggies... but how do I get rid of the pest without using harmful pesticides??

    Anyone?

  • use f.e neem oil and other plants that keeps bugs away. i don know but there are some plants that keep bugs away. look it up

  • garlic and onions can repel some pests. Nasturtiums and marigolds also repel some pests. You can also get shit like....praying mantises and ladybugs through the mail et cetera that hunts down pests. There's also picking 'em off by hand. The little old lady that used to live next door to my grandparents would be out in the garden every year, picking potato bugs off of the potato plants and dropping them into a coffee can with gasoline in it.

  • Yeahhhh right on brotha' man!!! GROW YOUR OWN FOOD!!!!! SAVE THE WORLD!!!

  • I agree what you say about potatoes- just don't tell the Irish this.

I think you will agree that RAW diet is dependent on sugar as the main source of energy. Tomatoes are the only fruit with little sugar. This is why I eat lots of tomatoes.

I think RAW vegetables need either cooking or pulverizing in a food processor. Raw nuts and seeds need a similar treatment as chewing is not enough. We are not equipped to digest whole nuts or seeds- we have not got a "gizzard" like birds.

    Thanks for reply.

  • The raw food diets usually consist of fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and sprouted grains. You won't typically find a raw foodist who eats raw potatoes. They are high in starch and have almost no nutritional value.

  • A bit on RAW potatoes- Pigs can't digest RAW potatoes, neither can humans.

Cattle have difficulty even with their multi stomachs containing the right bacteria and cud chewing-see below

Maybe RAWS chew their CUD ? Come on, own up ! tell us your secret !

  • Department of Agriculture and Aquaculture

    FEEDING POTATOES TO CATTLE

    Murray Snowdon, Livestock Nutritionist

    Cooking

Potatoes are an excellent energy source for ruminant livestock (cattle and sheep) but the presence of anti-nutritional factors, as well as the difficulty in digesting potato starch make raw potatoes low in feed value for pigs. Cooked potatoes make a good energy source for pigs but feeding raw cull potatoes directly to cattle usually makes more economic sense.

  • The big problem with RAW is that most high starch RAW foods such as rice, potatoes and unripe bananas are indigestible. They contain so called "resistant starches" which cannot be broken down in the small intestine for digestion. These starches pass intact into the large intestine and contribute to the fiber content of our diets. RAWS have to eat large amounts of sugar, either from over consumption of fruit or added to their RAW food to make it palatable.

  • Go to Wikipedia 'control of fire by early humans'

  • i think that all the things we got by our fast evolution are not primarly needed. What you need is: health, healhy rawvegan food, water, a warm place to sleep, some people u love and love by some people. Thats it. The rest can come and go, thats live! The evolution is so fast because people never ever get enough. They need more of everything. The more worse the human diet get, the faster the evolution is. Because with our killing food and livestyle we create a hole in ourselfs need to be filled!

  • sciencedaily(.)com/releases/2007/12/071224125524.htm

  • how can you grow a garden where it snows 6 months out of the year?move?what i know grows here in warm months is berries, tomatoes and i think you can grow greens, lettuce, kale.can you grow food in the winter anywhere?of course, cuz how else would people be eating in the winter?storage.i know nothing of gardening, planting, how does one make that happen?a move,a garden, pray?

  • Look into hydroponics. It's possible to grow salad greens, tomatoes, etc. soil-free on your countertop. There are small kits available to do this. You may also want to check out Mother Earth News. I have never lived in the North, but they have published plenty of articles on how to keep your garden going in cold, hardy climates by building a hothouse or other type of shelter.

  • What nutrients can't you get from fruit that you can from vegetables?

  • Greens are filled with chlorophyl and calcium.

  • why do you think you need to eat chlorophyl?

Calcium is found in hazelnuts, dried currants, figs, egg yolk, Brazil nuts, tamarind and olives contain the most, but walnuts, raisins, oranges, kiwis and mandarins

  • Chlorophyl has many anti-inflamatory, antioxidant and wound healing properties. It contains magnesium and helps blood carry oxigen to body tissue. It is also been found to reduce body odour and is used in many toothpastes, gums, and mouthwashes(but its best in plant form.)

  • I seriously doubt that the magnesium component of the chlorophyll molecule is bioavailable at all. Despite the rhetoric from the alt. health industry, chlorophyll has no biological activity in humans.

  • Vegetables, especially leafy greens tend to be much more MINERAL dense than fruit or to put it the other way around, eating only fruit might have the tendency to contribute to a mineral deficiency somewhere down the road. We do need greens.

  • Where can I get all the episodes of this programme/talk. Thanks. I have found four on utube. 13, 19, 23 and 27, I couldnt find any more. Thanks anyone.

  • Yes! Eating more organic veggies is the most healthy change you can make in your diet.

  • It probably doesn't matter if they are organic or not. Epidemiological studies have shown clear health benefits from eating non-organic produce.

  • I started my own little organic co-op a few months ago and it's great! We get the best organic produce at wholesale prices. Everyone should start one. Support your local organic farmers and eat up all those surplus fruit and nuts that just fall to the ground and rot. See how I do it:

  • Historically, the longest lived societies in the world do eat some meat even though the bulk of their diet is vegan. For example, the Hunzas are one of the longest lived societies/civilizations in history but they do eat some meat, for example goat. Can anyone point to a civilization past and/or present that are completely vegan with longevity? How about a civilization past and/or present that are completely RAW FOODIST with longevity? I'd really like an answer on this...

  • No civilization in the past has had as much access to raw foods as we have today. I can order almost any food from any country in the world, and it can be at my doorstep within a couple of days. So what's the deal with meat, why would that make you live longer or shorter? Who cares? Meat has to be cooked, and when it enters your body, no matter who you are, you will get an extreme white blood cell reaction. Eat healthy rawfoods and you won't.

  • Again my question to the audience remains - can anyone point to a civilization past and/or present that are completely vegan/raw food with longevity?

  • Brillpod, you said, "So what's the deal with meat, why would that make you live longer or shorter? Who cares? " I would care if eating meat made me live longer.

  • Brillpod, science is continually making new discoveries, reversing facts it had once stated as valid. You mentioned you will get an extreme white blood cell reaction when you eat meat. I've also read where you don't get that reaction when you eat meat with raw foods. I think large amounts of raw foods in one's diet is important for health, but I'm not sure whether a strict raw foods diet is the answer for optimum life longevity. The longest lived civilizations ate small amounts of meat.

  • Brillpod, it's true that food can be delivered to your area from around the world, but in most scenarios, the most nutritious foods are locally grown. Transit time and soil conditions affect food quality. The Hunzas mineral rich glacial irrigated gardens and civilizations noted for longevity in South and Central America even with their temperate climates, which allowed the growing of foods locally in rich soil year round, still ate some meat, and experncd some of the oldest living humans.

  • I understand organic food from the garden is the best. However, I can't grow superfoods (such as Cacao) that are wild.

  • I have eaten more cooked meat in my life than I have raw foods. However, I have switched to raw foods less than 2 yrs ago. If meat is your food (or part of it), then more power to you. And just because longest lived civilizations ate meat, doesn't mean meat was their secret to longevity. What point are you really making in that statement (let alone what societies have you named?)? Are you saying meat will help fight the environmental issues and pollution today that cause people to die early?

  • It's funny, there's a quote David Wolfe brings up a lot, which is "One person's panacea is another person's poison". What does this mean? Meat is good for some people, just as dairy products are good for some people. However, not everyone likes to or can eat meat or dairy products. David Wolfe's not hardore when it comes to "not eating meat", his current stance is due to ethical issues on animals, and understably so. But what nutritional values in meat do you find to be so healthy?

  • Brillpod - in answer to your question, "what nutritional values in meat do you find to be so healthy?", there are probably nutritional values that I'm not aware of - just as science is continually making discoveries of new enzymes, minerals and vitamins. Don't get me wrong, I'm just trying to educate myself on the subject. I'm just curious to know if there is a civilization past and/or present that is completely raw food/vegan with longevity?

  • Past civilizations didn't have access to as much raw/super foods, so logically they would have had to hunt and consume meat. Not only that, they had to hunt animals for clothes, shelter, etc, and instead of wasting the meat, they'd eat it as part of their diet.

I wouldn't trust meat from any animal in the US now, nor in the future. Another good question might be: do we know of any individuals that were rawfoodist/vegetarians that outlived meat-eating civilizations?

  • Brillpod. Your question, "Another good question might be: do we know of any individuals that were rawfoodist/vegetarians that outlived meat-eating civilizations?" is also a good one. I'd like to hear some answers on this from the audience.

  • Highly bioavialble protein for starters. true if you are sedentary or not trying to gain lean tissue, protein requirements can easily be met with a vegetarian diet. However, procuring adequate protein from non animal sources is very difficult for most people trying to accrue lean mass.

  • There's nothing more "highly bioavailable" than the protein from raw greens (and fruits) - simple amino acid chains, easy to disassemble and assimilate and undamaged by heat.

Gaining new muscle tissue requires no more than several grams of extra protein/ day and even much, much less according to the late elite class bodybuilder Mike Mentzer. He calculated only 1 gram of EXTRA protein per day, per 10 lb yearly muscle gain need be consumed on top of what's needed to maintain basic bodyweight.

  • the essenes..

  • Thanks....I will investigate the Essenes and report my findings.

  • The Essenes were lacto-vegetarians. The Essene diet is a raw food diet of raw sprouts, wheatgrass, vegetables, and fruit. Use of raw dairy is explicitly authorized by the Essene gospels, so the diet is often lacto-vegetarian rather than vegan. Many Essenes use fermented dairy products, specifically yogurt. For more information, Google these words: Essenes lacto-vegetarians

  • green2lean. Per your statement, "I don't think how long a civilization lasts is a good indicator of the success of their diet." - I'm really not addressing how long the civilization lasts, but the average life span of the longest lived individuals within that civilization

  • gfitz, okay that would make more sense, but is that well documented? How reliable is the information? Also, you have to take into account things such as health care. For instance we live longer now because we can be at a hospital in 5 minutes. Things that would have killed someone 60 years ago due to no access to medical treatment is little more than an emergency room visit today. Lifespan is not only related to diet.

The lifespan in the U.S. has steadily increased but so had disease.

  • green2lean. In any statistical analysis, you subtract out variables that really don't relate to the a specific factor you're taking statistics on. I'm addressing "average life span of the longest lived individuals within that civilization based on diet". The factors you're mentioning here are irrelevant. Having emergency care like a hospital and access to a hosptl quckly would probably increase the number of people able to live longer or to a ripe old age but it has nothing to do with diet.

  • We both have good points, but I think you miss mine. Suppose that a tribe of gatherers survives on moving from location to location based upon available food. Do you think if one breaks a leg or starts slowing down due to age that they have as good a chance to live to 100 as someone living in a Roman city? It's impossible to separate all the variables out when it comes to life span.

  • green2lean, my understanding is opposite to yours - producing meat consumes 4-5x as much resources as producing veggies. Putting it another way, you can feed many more people by feeding them the produce of the earth then by feeding it to cows and pigs and then consuming their flesh. Try researching it.

  • Your vegans are high and mighty aren't you. People should get on their knees and bow before you and worship your purity and sinless life that does no damage to the earth or animals. Your wealth of knowledge is amazing and completely accurate.

My statement is factual. Currently there is not enough raw food to support the world population. Raw food means eliminating processed foods. Look at a grocery store. What % is raw? The raw food would be gone in an hour and the rest starve.

  • Supply and demand!! If more ppl demanded raw foods, we would knock down those processing, energy-draining factories and replace them with organic farms. Problem solved!!!

  • @tanpm0620 Its happening too!

  • @sexgodofwomen YAY!!!! Let's visualize this paradise together! I just drove by a house that advertised "EAT YOUR LAWN!" and teaches people how to grow food on their own property instead of wasting it on fancy pretentious lawns.

  • @tanpm0620 I so agree with you!!

  • @tanpm0620 problem is. People are too addicted on processed foods . Only the true dedicated ones can survived on raw foods. I guess?

  • @green2lean:

Start a garden & grow your own shit. It's yours to eat whenever you want & it's a money saver. $1.99+tax for a packet of seeds & $30 for some miracle grow. There you have it & there you are.

  • i love you david wolfe! you have changed my life!

  • Wolf is right. With how the economy is going, the ebst thing to do is grow your own food this spring and stock up on stuff liked sun dried seeds and fruits for the bad times, because the economy is going to get much worse. Avacodo trees, coconut trees, and other fatty fruits are key for hard times.

  • 1 of my avocado trees died. Need another for to pollinate. I have a different ripe fruit in my yard every day. This spring I'm filling the yard w/an edible forest.

  • What's up cris. I'm trying to grow a few avocado trees from it's seed, is there anything besides this that I need to grow them. I ask because you mentioned pollinating....thanks.

  • I'm in Florida. I'm growing the "Florida variety", native to Carribean I think. My understanding was I only needed 2 of the same strain when I bought them several yrs ago and the bugs will do the pollinating for me here. I was eating guacomoli a second ago. These avocados are fickle about water, other times I've grown a Haas variety from seed no problem. I'm on it again though. Good luck!

  • Yeah I'm groin Haas Thanks a lot

  • love Jenna and David Wolfe! great stuff

  • Superfoods: Brocoli, spinach, tomato, wheat-grass and avocado..

    They're great, taste them!

  • He is such a genius! Thank you. Keep posting this man! He rocks!

  • Yay, David Wolfe....Post more if you have it please!!! Thanks so much :)
