New to Matcha, and was wondering why my Matcha wasn't foaming as much as I've seen, but now I see I was using about half as much powder as is needed to get the good foaming action. Thanks!
Thanks for the presentation, but I have a question about the tea itself, hope u or anyone can help. I just bought some matcha tea and it have a strong fish or seaweed smell that make me can hardly taste the tea so I want to know if that’s how it suppose to smell because this is the first time I bought this tea and I'm not sure about it?. So I hope someone can answer me my question.
@tunzi Where do you buy the green tea from? I just bought one, but I thought it was too pricy for me. I bought another for the same price and was a lot more in quantity... I love the foam part :P
@JesusGodHolySpirit3 where I live their is a large Asian grocery chain line store.T &T
they have various ones from 5.00 all the way up to 20.00. I have purchased the 5.00 one and it does not smell fishy either ...makes me wonder about the brand you have purchased. I find that the asian grocery stores are much cheaper then if I find it or buy asian products from the main stream grocery stores
I have a question to anyone who is experienced. when I make matcha...which is only occasionally...my tea tends to taste like the bamboo whisk that I use to whisk the tea with. the water I use is just about 2 to 3 degrees under boiling. I use Ito En ceremonial grade matcha. I haven't been pre-moistening the whisk...would that be part of the reason? Or do I just need to get a better whisk? Why is the bamboo taste getting into the tea?
@tsukimichan It's actually new. It wasn't a cheap one either. I've actually experimented a little and it seems pre-moistening it and thoroughly drying it afterwards solved the problem. But thanks for the reply.
I had no idea you were suppose to sift & wisk it! And here I am just dumping it into hot water and stirring like a crude neanderthal. I still love the taste, though...does it really make a difference or is it mostly for presentation?
@kjnyankee It makes a difference IMO. Not only is it more presentable, but the fine foam actually has a sweet taste to it. And making sure that there are no clumps in the tea ensures that it isn't bitter.
Hey, i was wondering can you give me a brand name of a good matcha powder that is not too bitter. I know some are more bitter than the others. And also where I can buy them. I ma in Toronto.
Thanks. Great video. I had been putting in far too much water so now I know why I wasn't getting the foam.

Don't ever use boiling water when making green tea and especially matcha. It just won't taste right.
