ANY BODY KNOW WHERE I CAN FIN THESE RECORDINGS. I DIDN'T KNOW HE WAS A SINGER BUT HE WAS GREAT.I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE ALL HIS RECORDINGS.brendajarrell60
@jollyroger1889 Agreed...Mitchum was cooler than the other side of the pillow. He'll always be the only "Max Cady". I think John D. McDonald would agree...he was a menacing character in that flick man.
@monceau27 Not sure if this matters anymore 8 months since you asked, but it's actually Jane Russell, not Rita Hayworth. I know people get them confused for some reason. Robert and Jane did 'His Kind of Woman' and 'Macao' too.
How cool! I was always a huge fan of the late great Bob Mitchum as an actor. Now I know he also had a FINE singing voice! How delightful to know he was a nice fellow offscreen. He never seemed to take himself too seriously. THANKS for your heartwarming comment! :)
I have to say Robert Mitchum is the LAST person I ever would have expected to record a song, let alone several records... it's odd that he's actually not half bad.
Thanks for the post. Great! This is a new song to me and I've been a Mitchum fan since 1950. He actually got a top 10 hit with 'Little Ole Winedrinker Me' and his recording of 'Thunder Road' hit the charts in the mid 50s. He could do about anything he set his mind to it seems, poetry, music, writing, etc. Quite a guy, and nothing phony about him. He was harder on himself than anyone else could ever be.
This was the b side to ' Ballad of Thunder Road' which is also a great song. Recorded on the capotol label around 1958. I've got the single.

Who's this woman at 1.32 with bob?

@monceau27 That is the gorgeous Rita Hayworth. Her and Bob made a movie together in 1957 called "Fire Down Below".

Great video and song. I believe he was known as Hollywood's tough guy back in the day, 5

Thanks V.C. He was a pretty tough man but no thug. A really decent intelligent man... with a devilish sense of humor.

Where the HECK did you find a recording sung by Robert Mtchum?!!!! Never heard of this!!!
Great tone to his voice...wonder if he made any other recordings?
cecefranki 3 years ago
Yeah, actually Mitchum made quite a few recordings. Most notably a calypso album around 1957, which is absolutely great!
