  • Wonderful to see that these fellows look not like the action hero's children watch today but like the real one's. Thanks for sharing this.

  • Those who say that highlanders are cute and suck come say that to my face and say it to the members of the highlanders

  • @stefan19909 Oh , WHOA HALT HERE !!!

AS Canadian , who has served overeas & will return .. And has a FAMILY HISTORY WITH THE CANADIAN BLACK WATCH ,, I agree with you Sir !!! :)) But , no need to get testy !! I am sure a lot of you were & are Cute !!! ( meaning nice good looking fellows ) BUT IN NO -WAY !! DOES That other Epithath Apply !!! Who ever said that , should hang their head in Shame !! perhaps they did not know what they meant ?? Regardless , you have my Best

  • my grand fater served in the ppcli for almost 20 years and was a master corporal.

  • the pipers are wearing the red plume of the Black Watch but can someone tell me why they are wearing what appears to be the Royal Steward Tartan instead of the Black Watch Tartan?

  • @Sammy1234568910 Because they are not Scottish they are Canadian zero to do with Scotland

  • @dave777blaster well I know they are canadian but the riflemen and drummers are in the blackwatch tartan, I wouldn't say zero to do with Scotland, areas of canada like ulster cleary have strong Scot heritage and tradtions hense anglo-scottish regiments. I have noticed difference of tartans between pipers and other soldiers in the british black watch or rather the royal regiment of scotland as it is now called?

  • @Sammy1234568910 I meant the personnel attached to regiment are not necessarily Scottish decent ,but of course Canada has a lot of Scotsman and bonnie lasses too

  • @dave777blaster Canada's first prime minister and father of confederation was a Scot, Sir Alexander McDonald and Scots are Canada's third largest ethnic group, I am a second generation Canadian whose parents are from Scotland, our two countries have historical connections,

  • @mothman64 I'm of a fifth gen of Canaian family of English decent,Aye laddie historical connections .The regiment is Canadian not scottish

  • I have a friend who served in ppcli 2 for 7 years. I mentioned the black watch to my fgriend travis, and he became very solemn. I asked him why, he implied that there is a hierarchy of regiments and units, and that the black watch is very respected.

  • i could tell you they are real,,,,,,,,,in early 80" i was a 3rd field eng,we drank a lot in both Mess.

    good old time.

  • I hear Black watch were one of the best of the best

  • Agreed. I live in Maine and have spent a lot of time in the Maritime Provinces. It's been my privilege to know no small number of men who served in Canadian battalions of Scottish regiments. Most notably of the Black Watch and of the old Seaforth Highlanders. Most of those acquaintances gave their service in WWII, and I treasure the cap badges and arm patches that they've entrusted me to keep for them.

They served His Majesty well. Don't discount their service of their battalions.

  • @cantfindafkinaccount what the fuck are you talking about. This past year there were 500 reservist fighting for Canada in Afghanistan, the reserves took Normandy (3rd Canadian Infantry Division) They took Vimy. The CF would not be able to operate without them. They fought both World Wars. They fight and they die that's real shit.

  • @Freepepsi42 those did a great job but they are minority in the force anyway lets not start a debate :P

  • Any FRENCH Canadians in that unit?

I'm looking for a good used rifle.

    Dropped once and never used.

  • @SHM1953 Both of my grandfathers invaded Europe in WW2 and told my sister and I some pretty crazy stories about it on their deathbeds. Both of them are Acadien-French(origin of American Cajun), of the eastern coast of Canada. The American stereotype built around European French (Yeah, even I admit they're bitches) can't really be applied to French Canadians. Yeah, some Quebecois believe they should have their own country too. Isn't that what the charge of treason is for? I LOVE CANADA!!

  • @SHM1953 you my sir a db

  • Scottish-Canadians make up the second largest ethnic group after the French.

  • @zacharymullin

I agree with your comment, I serve with PPCLI and alot of our history leading up is alot of British history. Great history tho between the two nations. Very Proud to be Canadian.

  • @Panzer883 respect for ppcli, for hill 677, for the ric a dam doo.

  • The coats at 00:52 are classy as fuck.

  • @KeepEuropeWhite I can't believe some guy from europe thinks he has the right to teach canadians about their ethnicity. Canadian isn't an ethnicity, Canada is multi-ethnic.

  • @shamino1000

We get it in the USA too. American is a state of mind. But Canadian is an Ethnic Group. You are probably using a different definition of the word than used in the USA, but I know what you are getting at. We would say, Canadian is not a race. But I presume that even Canada has a unique culture that is shared among the Sub-ethnicities. Almost every ethnic group has sub groups.

  • Im curious as to how this regiment was formed. Does the Canadian army also have a "Gordon Highlanders", "Coldstream Guards", "Grenadier Guards" etc etc or is it just the blackwatch?

  • @dog75k You can google Canadian Regimental History and you will find all the information you seek.

  • @dog75k

There are Guards Regiments, one in Montreal where the Capital used to be and one in Ottawa. There are a number of Highland Regiments in Canada. But no we don't have a Canadian Coldstream. As far as the RHR came to be it was previously the 48th Battalion during WWI, King George V granted the 48 to wear the Red Hackle and to be called the Black Watch.

  • @dog75k Scottish Units of the Canadian Military: 1st Air Defence Regiment 48th Highlanders The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders The Black Watch The Calgary Highlanders The Cameron Highlanders The Canadian Scottish Regiment The Essex and Kent Scottish The Lake Superior Scottish Regiment The Lorne Scots The Nova Scotia Highlanders The Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders The Royal Highland Fusiliers The Seaforth Highlanders The Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Highlanders The Toronto Scottish Regiment
  • why are some men wearing pants

  • @mrpaintballhead

The remembrance day parade is composed of a number of Regiments, the Black Watch has the lead, followed by the other infantry regiments in town: CGG the RMR and the FMR.

  • @LastThree804 thanks

  • BATTLE IS WON.MARCH MY SON.pipes drum .march and fight 4victory my son.

  • Its no skirt its a kilt I tell yeh!

  • @Alaskaofto, Keep your sectarian shit out of a fine place. There are so many wonderful people in Canada that care enough to keep the Scottish tradition alive, I am Scottish, living in Asia and I love to see the pipes and drums anywhere in the world. Keep it up guys

  • @KeepEuropeWhite and where did those white canadians come from?

from the irish, british, and the scots, and of coarse the french

without the four, there would be no white canadians

we as canucks owe a great debt to our scotish cousins :)

    CHEERS FROM CANADA :)

  • @Alaskaofto IRISH BRITISH AND THE SCOTS..... THE SCOTS ARE BRITISH....BRITISH MEANS ENGLAND SCOTLAND WALES AND NORTHERN IRELAND.........PROTESTANT ULSTER.....YOU SURE YOUR NOT AMERICAN

  • @TheTwollocks

Why is it so important that you must write Ulster be Protestant?, I sure hope you're not a Religious bigot by any chance.

  • @Cybopath

The fight is nothing about religion. That is what English Racists say . It is like say ZIONIST, when you mean Jewish. Catholic = Irish People. Protestant or Ulster means foreigner from Great Britain squatting on Irish land.

BTW, no, I am not Irish. But I am familiar with the Crowns way of twisting language for gain.

  • @haitipi

You're catching the end of a conversation/argument that happened a month ago. I'm not English nor a Racist.

  • @TheTwollocks

Are you sure you are British. Ireland is NOT ON GREAT BRITAIN. It was part of the United Kingdom, but has not been part of Britain since the last Ice Age. And you say Americans don't know Geography.

By the way, the USA is also independent of Great Britain's rule.

  • Nemo Me Impunne LAcessit......

Let no one strike me with Impunity

  • @Royalhighlander

What's funny is that they didn't understand the American Revolutionary equiv in English, "Don't Tread on Me". They Tread, Americans Bit.

  • god bless the canadians, still got the old country in ye. supported britain through thick and thin. thank you, brothers.

  • @MrJimmyboy1972 Canada has two proud motherlands, England and France, how could we have gone wrong? haha... We remember where we come from. My granddad told me once that Canadian pride is like a frozen river, it's quiet, sturdy, it knows where it came from, it knows where it's going. But if you don't respect the frozen river, if you try to hurt it, it can be extremely dangerous and you'll find it runs very deep. I always liked his analogy, something about it rings true for me.

  • @illgieyeaskelpitlug i apologise, the skirl o the pipes and the tartan got to me. i of course know of the french side of canada. these, as you know, are two peoples come as one, still maintaining individual traditions, but part of the whole. from the period of Montcalm and Wolff, the modern Canada has arisen, and we thank god for it.

  • @illgieyeaskelpitlug

"Canadian pride is like a frozen river: it's quiet, sturdy, knows where it came from, and knows where it's going." I love that! Such a wonderful summary of the difference between the demured patriotism of Canadians versus the blow-hard, borderline jingoism of...welll, "other" countries.

  • @MrJimmyboy1972 Great comment mate,The Canadians, Aussies, New Zealanders and all the commonwelth came to Britains aid in it's darkest days.God bless each and everyone of them.A proud Brit and Scot.

  • looks a good turnout, I would like to visit the Canadian Black Watch museum in Canada if I can, I am going the in 2 weeks time.

  • Salute to our comrades....... UBIQUE

  • @KeepEuropeWhite

Yes, the largest ethnic group in Canada today are white Canadians however, Canadians of Scottish decent are the second largest, happy?

  • Scotland and Canada have a special relationship - Christ, the Scots are the second largest ethnic group in Canada.

I'm extremely proud to be a Scottish-Canadian and continue the surname MacGregor.

  • 00:41 I really wish i could learn how to spin the mallet or w/e its called like that lady xd

  • IT IS AN HONOUR TO HAVE THE BLACK WATCH REGIMENT IN CANADA !

  • I fail to understand why any Scotsman would be upset by Canadians who are proud of their Scottish heritage? To be upset and insult us for honouring your culture, from which our Canadian culture originated, is to insult your own people. I'd like to point out that as someone whose family is from Cape Breton Island, they speak Gaelic fluently at home and even four generations later, have not lost touch with the language most Scots in Scotland can't even speak.

  • @canadian1000 I wouldn’t use the label “Scotsman” to literally here, more “Trollman” . Trust me 99% of Scots and 100% of Gaels know the tie to Canada, We know about Eilean Cheap Breatainn, we know about the woodsmen of Quebec, the prairie farmers of Alberta, and we know about the Canadian Scots who gave their lives at places like Vimy Ridge , many Gaels amongst them. Our Great and Great Grand Parents are the same people. Suas leis a' Ghàidhlig!

  • @canadian1000 YOU KNOW ALOT OF SCOTS ARE'NT GAELIC

  • @TheTwollocks

You mean a lot of SCOTTISH are not GAELIC. Scots are. I know, it's semantics, but I was lead to believe by my Scottish kin that SCOTTISH is a NATIONALITY, whereas SCOTS is, among other things (besides the Dialect of English) the Ethnicity.

  • Respond to this video...

It is often said that the United States of America is a Melting Pot. I agree, but it's a British Pot!

  • @canadian1000

Ignore idiots my friends a lot of Scots feel some pride we had a small hand in future nations. But I must point out Scotland had two 'native' tongues Gaelic and Scots, because of the Highland clearences it was mostly Highlanders who left for North America and New Zealand bringing a very strong culture with them. You could say some lowland Scots look at highland traditions in the same way someone from Detriot may look at cowboy traditions.

  • Anyone who takes the Queen's shilling and dawns the kilt of the farty twa. or any other sister regimentr, is, to me, a heilund brother/sister and I am from so deep in the West Highlands 2 steps north and I would be in the sea. Forget NOT from whence you came... And the Children of the Exiles will arise and reclaim their clan lands.

  • r u fucking high Gwaii Eagle

  • fuck you Cape Berton is BAD ass i got my grandparents their and they are some bad mother fuckers you cant handle the turth 'GwaiiEagle'

  • bonjour.....votre vidéo est très joli j'adore

  • Comment removed

  • @GwaiiEagle1 Scottish fiddle music, kilt wearing and bagpipes does not constitute Scottish culture.

  • Comment removed

  • @GwaiiEagle1 I think the connection is nothing other being over emotional. The highland clearences is irrelevent. They are not Scottish because they do not come form Scotland. Regardless of whther their ancestors were forced out or moved out voluntarily .

  • @kingdomofdalriada: Thank God. What else 'ave ye got? Besides haggis and whiskey? And a bad attitude? I hope you don't work for the Scottish Ministry of Tourism, Kingdom Of DalRUDEia, ya jerk.

  • @kingdomofdalriada Most Canadians came to Canada for a better way of life and they got it. I can always remember my dad trying to talk my mother into going back to Aberdeen for a visit. She would always say why would I want to go back to that place when I came over here to get away with from it. I wish you Scots with your superiority attitude would quite degrading our military heritage we are Canadian and proud of it we don't pretend to be part of your culture & wouldn't want to be.

  • @GwaiiEagle1 You are no different from Plastic Paddies, and "Cape Breton" is nothing but a cardboard cut out of Scotland.

"Nova Scotia" is a void term, there is only ONE Scotland!

  • ouch marching in kilts in canada during winter :O that must of caused massive shrinkage.

  • Comment removed

  • BlackWatch Fucking Rocks!!

Can't wait to march with you guys!

  • Awa the Jocks !!

  • @HUMPTYNUGGET There are no Jocks in this video, they are all Canadian, they are not Scottish. And this is not the real Black Wacth, its the Canadian one

  • @kingdomofdalriada.... "Awa the Jocks " is a figure of speech....and they are Jocks by thier heritage , hence the kilts and bagpipes , you anal fuckwit !

  • @kingdomofdalriada well of couyrse this sin't the real black watch. this is the unreal black watch, formed in 1862

  • @UpstairsMaid The Canadian Black Watch is not composed of Scots, it is composed of Canadians.

The only Scottish thing about it is its name.

  • @kingdomofdalriada and your point is? I objected to someone who stated that the canadian black watch isn't real. are you saying that the only real black watch is the scottish one? tell that to the families of canadian black watch soldiers who died defending freedom, yours and mine, that their sacrifice wasn't real and their unit was a lie.

  • @UpstairsMaid Of course they are real and Canadian society, particularly in Western Canada, shows the imprint of the social virtues that are characteristic of Scottish society. I am an Englishman that was educated in Scotland, the Scots that I met were proud of their Canadian cousins and held them in high regard. We all owe a huge debt to the Canadian Black Watch.

  • @netherledy here here

  • @UpstairsMaid

you just cant teach Canadian history without teaching british history first. For better or worse our nations are tied.

  • @zacharymullin For better, I'd say.
