So lets say my employer was paying 500 a month in premiums for my health care. Obama says that this premium will go down by 3000 %. 3000% of 500 is 15,000. So 500 - 15,000 = -14,500 So by Obamas logic my employer will now get paid 14,500 a month for health care. Somehow this doesn't add up.

A reduction "by" is not the same as a reduction "of." A reduction "by" means you divide (by), ie if an employer pays $10,000, a 3000% reduction is $10,000/ 3000% = $333. A reduction "of" would be $10,000 multiplied by 3000% giving you the crazy numbers, and that wouldnt be a reduction! It would have been simpler if he had said employers may be paying up to 3% "of" their current cost. But then what sounds more profound, 3 or 3000? After-all it is politics.
Even if the distinction you claim was true, mathematically $10,000/ 3000% has no meaning. 333 is 3.333% of 10,000. 10,000 reduced by 9,667 to 333 is a change of -96.67%. It is impossible to claim a 3000% reduction in cost because it is impossible to reduce a number by more than 100%, unless it becomes a negative number.

A reduction "by" is not the same as a reduction "of." A reduction "by" means you divide (by), ie if an employer pays $10,000, a 3000% reduction is $10,000/ 3000% = $333. A reduction "of" would be $10,000 multiplied by 3000% giving you the crazy numbers, and that wouldnt be a reduction! It would have been simpler if he had said employers may be paying up to 3% "of" their current cost. But then what sounds more profound, 3 or 3000? After-all it is politics.

Even if the distinction you claim was true, mathematically $10,000/ 3000% has no meaning. 333 is 3.333% of 10,000. 10,000 reduced by 9,667 to 333 is a change of -96.67%. It is impossible to claim a 3000% reduction in cost because it is impossible to reduce a number by more than 100%, unless it becomes a negative number.
This was simple lying, not a grammatical misstep. Obama is contemptuous of Americans and over reached in his assumption they cannot think but only react to sound bites.

Take a guy who makes like $40k and has employer provided health insurance. He's totally working class, probably only has 1 or 2 paychecks worth of savings. When gov't healthcare comes in to effect, that dude's taxes will inevitably go up, his employer will drop his insurance knowing he can get the gov't insurance and he most certainly will NOT get a raise.

@kronichaze, I remember when he was campaigning and said DOCTORS were the culprit of medical cost. People cheered when he said no more to surgery that doesnt need to be done! And then the doctors came out and bitch slapped him so he had to find another villan. Insurance companies! THEY are the cause of medical costs! No. Your CAR insurance company doesn't affect the cost of a brake job.
He wants a single payer system and this is opening the door....

do you REALLY think you're going to pay taxes on this for 4 years and congress is gonna put that money under the mattress 'til then? NO. They're going to spend it / "borrow" it and it won't be there in 2014. THEN WHAT?

They are als working on diverting 401s and other retirement investment vehicles to T-bills. No more investing in private industry like insurance. All profit making businesses will get run out of Dodge.
