"There are things on here for the USA. Can they do it here? Cross, and Dempsey's denied again...and Donovan has scored! Oh, can you believe this? Goal! Goal! USA! Certainly through. Oh, it's incredible! You could not write a script like this!" - Ian Darke is amazing.
"Here comes Landon. Passes it to Altidore, gives it to Dempsey.....who juuust misses. Now here's Landon again, and puts it in. US takes the lead. Let's bring it down to Pam Oliver."
Anytime I see video of this goal or the crowd reaction to this goal, its chilling to my body. Reminds me of the goal that gave the US the lead versus the Soviet Union in the 1980 Olympic Hockey miracle.
I think this has to be up there with one of the great all time sports calls ever - not just because it's USA. But the way he delivers the call - building up the drama as the play builds - bring it up to an absolute zenith of hysteria - amazing call!
The eleven algerians on the field and their coach disliked this

Unfortunately, I didn't get to hear Ian Darke's live call of this.... because I was at the game.

I can't wait for Ian Darke to call his first national team game since the World Cup for ESPN. I'm wondering if he might be calling MLS Cup.
